00:00We are here with the one, the only, Tom Schwartz.
00:02People were obviously very excited to have you back.
00:04I think they were a little bit more hesitant with Lala.
00:06You know, what do you say to some of those critics?
00:09Hmm.
00:10I understand where they were coming from.
00:14I just, I feel like, I think maybe she left a bad taste in people's mouths the last season of
00:20VPR.
00:20But she's so, she has so much humility and she's grown so much as a human.
00:25And also, I'm sorry, even if she is a polarizing figure, I think Lala is one of the greatest reality
00:30stars ever.
00:32She's just so quick with it.
00:34Her wit is unrivaled.
00:35It's like, the more fired up she is, the sharper she is.
00:38We were talking about this on Carl's podcast, I think.
00:41It's like, she is, like, the angrier she is, the more articulate and poignant.
00:46She's like Shakespeare when she's pissed off.
00:48Well, I'm very excited to hear that you have a girlfriend now.
00:51She's, ugh, a dream.
00:52Yeah, well, are we going to be seeing her this season?
00:54Because I know you kind of hinted in last night's episode.
00:56Like, in the beginning, we had just started hanging her out.
00:59Like, in real time.
01:00Like, we were hanging out, but it wasn't, like, super serious or anything.
01:03And I would, but, like, deep down inside, I was, like, falling for her.
01:06But also, it's kind of scary because I'm, like, I'm filming a no-show.
01:09It's like, the thought of maybe navigating, bringing someone who's not on the show into this world is a little
01:14scary.
01:15Especially if you are starting to catch serious feelings about them.
01:19But, yeah, we get to see, I call her Kiki.
01:22She says there's two women that live inside, that live inside of her, Kiana and Kiki.
01:26It's like a, anyways, we'll get into that.
01:28But, yes, we'll see a little bit of Kiana.
01:30Okay.
01:30She pops in a few times and, like, she's just so, she's so effortlessly charismatic.
01:37Yeah.
01:37You know what I mean?
01:37She just has whatever that it factor is.
01:39I know I'm partial because I love her.
01:41The last time we were here, you were telling me how much you love Katie's boyfriend.
01:44Has she gotten to meet Kiana yet?
01:46What does she think?
01:47Not yet.
01:48Okay.
01:49They have not met yet.
01:50And, I don't know, Katie, listen, Katie's going to love her.
01:53I feel like, I don't know if it's weird to say, I feel like they would actually be, like, besties.
01:58I'm not saying that they're, like, similar, but I'm just saying I just have a feeling like they would be
02:02really good friends.
02:03That's awesome.
02:04Yeah.
02:05Kiana likes to say she's my karma.
02:08I forget for what I did to Katie.
02:10Katie was just announced as a cast member in Stassi's new show that's coming out.
02:14Are you going to be watching that?
02:15I am so hyped.
02:17I actually, I don't think I made it out of the cutting room floor, but I think I was there
02:22when they did their pilot episode.
02:25Oh, my gosh.
02:26And I was never going to be on the show, but I love all those people.
02:29I'm friends with literally everyone on that cast, you know?
02:31I love Stassi, Bo, Katie, Christina Kelly, Rob is one of my dear good friends.
02:37Rob is, like, one of Bo's best friends.
02:39And I think it'll be exciting to get to know Rob.
02:41He's such a fascinating, funny human being.
02:45And, yeah, there's just, it's going to be a hit.
02:47I love Stassi.
02:48I think she's iconic.
02:49I think she's one of the greatest reality stars ever, to be honest.
02:53Again, partial because she's, like, my good friend.
02:55Right.
02:55But I just, Stassi, she does it so well.
02:58Well, shifting gears a little bit because I want to get into what we saw in this week's episode.
03:02During that singles night, all I could focus on was the cigarette behind your ear.
03:07Was that, like, your Dorit Kemsley moment?
03:10Honestly, I think, well, we don't have a lot of time in the world here, but something about, like, just
03:15everything becoming AI in an ever-digital world and everyone's vaping.
03:20Something about having, I'm not a smoker, but I like the, I think I like the idea and the aesthetic
03:25of, like, a Marlboro Man vibe.
03:28I like, I like the grit of smoking a cigarette in NYC.
03:32Maybe I'll roll around on the sidewalk to season it a little bit.
03:35Extra gritty.
03:36No, I, also, I think, I think I got drunk that night because I think I was going, I had,
03:44like, I felt like I was living a double life because I was quietly kind of, like, falling for this
03:48person.
03:49But also, like, I'm filming a show and I'm on singles night and I wasn't ready to, like, tell the
03:54group, my friend group, that I, about her.
03:56I was, like, hyper protective of her and, like, she's, like, perfect and I'm, like, oh, my God, the part
04:01of me is, like, George, you're going to screw this up.
04:03And, I don't know, I was a little secretive, but not, like, in a shady way, but I just didn't
04:07know how to, how to, like, tell people that I was falling for her.
04:14It sounds stupid coming out of my mouth.
04:16I just was, like, I don't know, I was torn.
04:19I was awkward as, by the way, I watched that, I was so awkward during that scene because I know
04:24what I was thinking.
04:25I felt like I was, like, kind of performative.
04:29Like, I was, like, okay, I've got to commit to singles night.
04:31I'm going to have fun.
04:32I'm going to flirt a little in an innocent way, you know, play the game.
04:35Last season of Summer House, you paid a visit to the Hamptons and you said, you know, cherish this moment.
04:42You know, it could be gone in an instant.
04:44Did you ever think that it would hold so much weight now given the recent events?
04:49It didn't feel, like, prophetic in the moment.
04:51I'm definitely not, like, clairvoyant or anything, but I just know how easily it can all fall apart, right?
05:00Entropy.
05:01Like, it's just, like, it's, they have, they had the same lightning in a bottle, same but different lightning in
05:06a bottle that we had with VPR.
05:08Like, authentic, long-standing friendships, lots of love, heartbreak, marriages, divorces, scandals.
05:16But, yeah, man, I, like, I wish, I wish it wasn't as prophetic as I, you know, me and Paige
05:23thought it would be in that moment.
05:26But, yeah, it makes me sad because I really love everyone on that cast.
05:30Like, I, I know, even Wes and Amanda.
05:34Yeah.
05:34Like, I, listen, there's clearly an ethical code violation here, without a doubt.
05:41And, like, they made their bed, they have Elena, yada, yada.
05:43But I, I don't know, I don't know, I feel kind of bad.
05:47Yeah.
05:47Even though it's, like, they, it's, like, they're dealing with the consequences of their actions.
05:51It's, like, you can't help who you've fallen in love with, but you can help control how you handle it.
05:57Right.
05:57I've been thinking about, last night I was talking with Kiana, and I was, like, like, there's an episode in
06:02Friends.
06:02Remember when Joey starts falling in love with Rachel?
06:05And it's so awkward.
06:06He's, like, I can't control how I feel.
06:08But he tells Ross.
06:10Doesn't he?
06:10He does.
06:11He tells Ross, as uncomfortable as it is.
06:13And Ross is, like, you know.
06:15I'm fine.
06:16Yeah, I'm fine.
06:16Yeah, that's right.
06:19He wants a margarita.
06:19The margarita night.
06:20Oh, my God.
06:21One of my favorite episodes.
06:22That's what's happening with Summer House right now.
06:24Yes.
06:25Totally parallels.
06:26But, hey, listen.
06:29Godspeed on that reunion today, guys.
06:31Yes, yes.
06:32Well, I'll take it from you.
06:33You've been there.
06:33You've done that.
06:34Not in their positions, but you've been in the, in the circle of it, and.
06:37I'm a survivor.
