00:05From the Philippines, an island nation in the Pacific, comes Pedro and the monster.
00:10The story of a boy who, like Hansel and Gretel, overcomes a gluttonous monster by using his head.
00:21Pedro was a little boy who lived in the Philippines.
00:25Outside his house, the land was beautiful, but Pedro stayed inside because he was afraid.
00:35He was afraid that one day he would open the door and there would be a monster on the other
00:43side.
00:44That was Pedro's great big fear, number one.
00:49One day, though, Pedro's parents went away and left him in the house all alone.
00:56And then, there was a knock on the door.
01:00And when he opened the door, there was a monster outside.
01:06It was Barocca.
01:08She had the head of a witch, the wings of a bird, and the legs of a horse.
01:17Worst of all, she ate children.
01:21You look delicious.
01:23Then, she snatched Pedro and flew away with him.
01:29She took him to her nest in the mountains.
01:33Every evening, Barocca would take a red handkerchief and pull out a single thread.
01:40That thread would burst into flame and light her fire.
01:45Next, Barocca would take a white handkerchief and squeeze it over a pitcher.
01:52Pure water would drip down and fill the pitcher.
01:56Finally, using the fire and water, she would cook a big supper for Pedro and force him to eat every
02:06bite.
02:07Pedro began getting plump.
02:09Soon, he would be plump enough for Barocca to eat.
02:14So, he decided to try and escape.
02:17She was so surprised that she fell over and dropped the colored handkerchiefs.
02:23Pedro grabbed them both and jumped out of the nest.
02:27Pedro ran as fast as he could, and he could run pretty fast.
02:32But Barocca summoned more monsters from all over the world.
02:37In the world, hundreds of monsters ran after Pedro and flew after him and crawled after him and jumped after
02:44him.
02:45Pedro threw down the red handkerchief, and it turned into a fire that burned the wings of the monsters.
02:53But they kept on coming out of the ashes.
02:57Then, Pedro threw down the white handkerchief, and it turned into a tidal wave.
03:04And all the monsters drowned.
03:08Thank goodness.
03:10Pedro found his parents, and they were glad to be together again.
03:16Pedro learned a good lesson, too.
03:19He had faced his great big fear, number one.
03:25And he was still alive.
03:27There was nothing left to be afraid of.
03:32Whatever day!
03:47And he was still alive.
03:48Be the brave man.
03:48And he had fallen to a large Port dran by the British Christian checkers.
03:51And there was noüstого, thatling of the sea.
03:51And there was nothing left to be back.
03:53His wife had made NO吧.
03:54He was still alive.
