00:47at Madison Square Garden.
00:49Get beat by 30 by the Knicks,
00:50obviously following what happened in Game 4,
00:53which was a pretty thorough beatdown as well.
00:57And one of the things we talked about, Randy,
00:59coming into the game yesterday was the Knicks kind of showed you
01:01who they were in Game 4 in terms of toughness.
01:03The backs were against the wall.
01:04They had to muster sort of a different level, flip a switch,
01:07whatever you want to call it, playoff speak.
01:10Did the Hawks have that last night?
01:12And I don't think it's an effort thing.
01:14I don't think it's a – they don't have the dog in them
01:16or anything like that.
01:18I just think the Knicks are better and executed really well.
01:22And, you know, the last – what's 48 plus 48?
01:25The last 96 minutes of basketball have proved that pretty well.
01:28Yeah, I think, you know, as we started off the show,
01:31their big people decided that they were just bigger than you.
01:34But they're bigger.
01:35But it's like, I'm going to sit on this perimeter
01:37and let y'all just guard me.
01:38I'm going to go down here and I'm going to punish y'all little asses.

01:42They went – but, you know, more than anything,
01:44and I'm going to stand by – I'm not saying it's the reason why they lost,
01:47but the officiating was a bunch of crap yesterday.
01:50It's a whole bunch of crap because the Knicks got away with a lot of push-offs.
01:54The trip on Jalen, I mean, that was a whole bunch of crap.
01:57But that's not why they lost.
01:58They lost because the Knicks are better.

02:01And the Hawks are in a position where you made a great point

02:10And they have a guy who we know he's an all-NBA player every year in Jalen Bross.

02:17And the Hawks are in a situation where they don't have that.

02:22and he's not playing like that now.
02:24And he didn't play like that the whole series.

02:29and this is what I'm saying, if they do beat the Hawks
02:33and they go play the Lakers, watch how they defend their perimeter guy.
02:36These dudes – O.G. is a – because he's just as big as Jalen.
02:39He's not as athletic as Jalen, but he's just as big, just as strong.
02:42And they kept giving him different looks that he just wasn't ready for.

04:03but it was mentioned when we talked about what it was going to take to beat them.

04:12Like, when you're bringing in, like, intangible stuff,
04:17and you're like, you've got to get in their heads,
04:19and you're going to have to try to –
04:21maybe there's a little bit of a crack in the foundation between this player

04:25Maybe this player you could kind of take advantage of.
04:28When that's a key, that's not great.

04:31Because I don't have a lot of basketball keys for how the Hawks could,
04:34through seven games, win four of them.
04:37You were hoping that maybe the town stuff would pop up a little bit
04:41and he would, you know, get uncomfortable and you could get in his head or whatever.

04:45But, I mean, he's played really good the whole series, Andy.
04:49But he's been bigger in these last two games, meaning –

05:18And it's hard for people to guard him.
05:20He can also dribble and shoot.
05:21And they have to respect the perimeter.

05:25He's like, he's got all the tools that you would want in a player like that.
05:28And some nights he shows up and looks like the best guy on the court.
05:31And some nights he doesn't.
05:33And some nights they ignore him and all that.
05:35But the last couple games he's been a big key.
05:38And they try to throw a wrinkle early.
05:39And I get it.
05:40I respect it.
05:41You've got to try to do everything you can.
05:42Man, they put Dyson on him.
05:44And that means Dyson's not guarding Jalen.

05:46And when Dyson doesn't guard Jalen, Jalen scores 39 points.
05:49And that's what happened last night.
05:51He's got to pick a poison, man.
05:52But, I mean, you're not going to win a lot of games when Dyson downs 17 points.

05:57I mean, when we look at his –
05:59Oh, when he leads the team in scoring?

06:01No, I mean, Jalen had 19.

06:04So, when you're in that situation, that's just not good.
06:07I mean, that's nothing against Dyson.
06:09But, Andy, he was getting into the lane and would not shoot it.

06:14Yeah, the problem is Dyson went 7 for 11.
06:16Dyson should have gone 14 for 22.

06:19Dyson should have shot twice as many times as –

06:22Like, there was a stretch in the third quarter where the Hawks' offense went just completely dry.
06:27And exactly what the Knicks wanted was what they would get.
06:31The shot clock would wind down and it would be Dyson on the perimeter.
06:34It's like, all right.
06:35The Knicks would let Dyson shoot 100 open threes if the Hawks wanted to do that.
06:40Because even if he shot 100 open threes, they'd score like 60 points.

06:44Long rebound.
06:44Because he's a 20% three-point shooter.
06:47I mean, literally the worst three-point shooter that's ever taken 100 threes in a season.

06:53In the history of basketball.

06:57So, the Knicks are like, sure.
06:59Be my guest.
07:01As much as we would love Josh Hart to shoot, they triple love Dyson to shoot.
07:05And there was a stretch where they couldn't get anything else.
07:07The other thing is they can help off him so there's a double team for whoever might be able to
07:11go.
07:11And a lot of times that was CJ.
07:13And that led to CJ having, you know, more turnovers than field goals made last night.
07:20So, tough one.
07:24Tough one for the Hawks last night.
07:25Hopefully they can come home and muster something in game six.
07:28But the Knicks are a good team, man.
07:30They're really well built.
07:30And if Carl Anthony Towns is playing like this, they're going to be hard for anybody to beat.
