00:14true true that's uh it's funny to see that uh a lot of reactions and response on the on the
00:23video
00:23and uh yeah only so yeah good obviously um but also a bit strange because yeah you uh you say
00:32goodbye to
00:33something that you you've been doing your whole uh well yeah i think it's it's more a mixture of it
00:39it's um it's somehow a strange feeling because you say goodbye to the thing that you yeah you lived for
00:47you trained for you you did your whole life but at the same time i already was in a period
00:53in the last
00:53couple of years where i would say that uh it was costing me a lot uh also with energy uh
01:02the fun
01:02part the mental part so i'm also a little bit um yeah how can i say it right it's it's
01:11not that i'm
01:12happy but it feels like there's a lot of my shoulder you know like weight on my shoulder
01:16that is a relief a relief feeling yeah so um and that's yeah so it's it's it's a mixture obviously
01:25um but i also can feel that it's it's okay at the moment so yeah so it's it's been obviously
01:31a period
01:32of of years thinking um considering many injuries uh going from the highest level obviously to
01:40some clubs that are yeah they were playing lower and i saw that my level was dropping i saw that
01:46my
01:47confidence was dropping a lot i get a lot of self-doubt the last couple of years and why now
01:55um again i was in a moment of um not knowing what's next so i i stopped my season in
02:04in in new york
02:06had a very tough injury over there and hip injury um knowing now that i need to go again for
02:14another
02:14surgery um so all these things and then thinking about another rehab thinking what it cost me
02:20especially mentally fighting my way back every time um i said it's it's it's enough so um
02:30yeah it's it's i think it's it's difficult to say why now it's just i think uh like all these
02:36moments
02:37together they came to a point now that i say okay i i just don't wanna wanna do it anymore
02:43i don't wanna
02:44um go through the same pain in a rehab again i don't wanna go through the same uh thing of
02:53finding
02:53a club for months not knowing what's going on not knowing what my salary is gonna be without any
03:00any financial uh situation that is yeah covering obviously players that are uh without clubs so um
03:08for me it was um yeah just all these moments together were just for me the yeah the right
03:15moment now to say it's uh it's enough and i don't want to do it anymore it's always the the
03:22closest
03:22friends obviously family um also some coaches that i can can can chat to um but also i think that's
03:31also very important for me like teammates people that have been going through the same um same things
03:37and i i had a moment of of like this conversation in my own head before we start this uh
03:43this interview
03:44obviously that what happened to me yeah being like at the top level and then dropping it's i think
03:51that's that's happening happening maybe to most of the players that are they are suffering like they
03:57are not playing they have an injury they are sitting on the bench they don't know anymore if they are
04:02the same player that they once were um they are struggling with this type of of of mental uh conversations
04:11in their own in their own heads um and for me all the conversations that i had with my with
04:18my
04:18girlfriend with my family with my friends um it's it's it's was costing me too much to say i just
04:26want
04:26to keep going and keep going and keep going i just want to say now stop because i i feel
04:32like there were
04:32moments that i wasn't able to uh to be fully in the present to be um to have a good
04:39night of sleep
04:40because i was overthinking everything and um now it's just a time to say okay it's um that's it
04:49yeah the physical part is um it's okay and let me say it like this obviously i had i had
04:56these
04:56injuries and i said you said seven surgeries right yeah seven surgeries i had from the age of 17
05:04till 25 so almost every year one and i have to go through another one again um so uh it's
05:15costing
05:16obviously a lot physically so that also you feel like that you are maybe missing these last percents
05:24that you in the beginning had so with sprinting with turning with um with with these little things
05:32to make the difference maybe at uh at the top level um but what is costing me more and you're
05:39completely right there is just the mental uh stuff like the the mental health stuff to uh to enjoy the
05:46game um i always said to myself everyone starts playing football because they like it obviously
05:53um they love to play with the ball they start playing with you start playing with your friends
05:58but that at at some point i just played because i wanted to show everyone that i was still the
06:05same
06:05player that i was like when i was 16 that i was still the same talent that i was the
06:12player who
06:13uh was so good and everyone said that i was so good but if you have injuries if you are
06:19losing your
06:20self-confidence if you are feeling that you're somehow not touching that level you get all these
06:26questions in your head and the frustration in your body and the um the self-doubt that that makes it
06:33so hard to just keep close to that joy feeling and that fun feeling of why you started playing so
06:40um
06:40that's that's one of the of the things that i would say like i really want to help players with
06:46that
06:47um because i think that's something that um is not only happening at the top level i was obviously
06:55fortunate to play at real madrid but i think it already started semi-professional maybe the highest
07:00amateur or professional level where people are starting to get injuries sitting on the bench what
07:07i said having these conversations in their head and to stay close to why you started to to smile and
07:15to be
07:15with the ball that's that's just the feeling that i lost and i hope that i can find a way
07:23with the
07:23platform that i'm building that people can can stay close to that feeling yeah 100 i think
07:30we as a as as a player if you have a big injury you're working five months to get back
07:35to hopefully
07:36the same level or even even better again um but when you are back um it's difficult obviously to be
07:45again that player but we and i also i hear everything you know like when people they see it they
07:52are
07:52chatting they are like oh is he still the same player oh what happened with him oh he walks a
07:57little bit different that's just the injury part but then you have also the part of of you're sitting
08:02on the bench so you're gonna start in your own head like oh wow did i not recover well from
08:07that
08:07injury um the coach didn't like is not like me anymore you need to have like a lot of um
08:14yeah to
08:15stay close to your self-confidence at that point is so and so difficult and what i feel now with
08:21the
08:22social media stuff with with um that's going on is it's it's very hard for for for players just to
08:30stay really close to their own uh feeling when uh when you see everything that's happening and when
08:37you then obviously also get injuries or uh whatever happens in your career so yeah i agree with that
08:44yeah no i started playing when i was six years my father always said my first word was was ball
08:53so it was like the first first love obviously no father no mother both yeah both both both
09:00yeah we don't know maybe my father's lying just to
09:05no but no it was uh no i had already a big love for the game when i was uh
09:11when i was younger and
09:12um i started playing in the amateur team here close to my hometown um it's called nijmegen um and i
09:21did well um at the age of eight i was already um basically scouted by a team called yeah team
09:29called psv obviously you know psv yeah um and also two other teams for my for close from uh from
09:37my
09:38hometown nijmegen uh nec nijmegen and vitesse but i i chose to to go for psv uh played there five
09:47years did really well obviously you're young so you just enjoy playing you're not thinking that much
09:54you're just going to the training and it's just me it's just you with the ball basically and at that
10:00moment um psv saw that i was uh i had more talent or i was more gifted with the ball
10:09than other uh
10:10players from that age so i moved up a team uh then later on i i was scouted by uh
10:16by ajax
10:18ajax obviously they had also a very good youth academy at that time um i made the decision at
10:25that point to to go to uh to the ajax youth academy with 14. and with ajax was the same
10:32a bit as as
10:33with psv i was i was performing well with my age group i was playing for the dutch national team
10:39and then at the point of 16 um you are i'm not sure what the rules are now your generation
10:45of ajax was
10:46like matthijs de ligt frankie de jong right yeah my gen obviously matthijs de ligt is even one year
10:53younger than me uh frankie de jong is one year older but my my the players that i've played with
11:00i have many because i train sometimes with with one year older then matthijs de ligt he went also
11:06up so we played also together sometimes with donjal male with uh with psv with cody gagpo for example
11:14like these were all players that i that i played with in my in my youth career and i forget
11:20a lot of
11:20them because yeah the youth the youth academies in the netherlands they are very very good so many of
11:28these players uh yeah play now at the top level uh champions league uh national team so it's um it's
11:36also nice to see that i obviously played with with with with them um but then i moved from um
11:4316 years
11:44from ajax to real madrid um they saw me play uh national team uh they saw yeah some stats i
11:54think
11:54online then i signed for real madrid um i couldn't let them go yeah it was my father actually said
12:03that
12:03and uh i was like okay wow that's that's crazy but at the same time i was also a little
12:13bit of uh
12:15yeah a young guy who was like okay uh we will first see if that's really true and then we
12:23will wait i
12:23was i was not like no we have to go now the first day and i was like okay first
12:28let's wait what's
12:29going on and then they went to spain first so without me um and then i started believing like oh
12:36whoa this is a real thing now like yeah that's real fight it by yeah by real madrid and i
12:43was like okay
12:45now i yeah if i can make the decision and if and it's really true what's going on
12:50now then yeah obviously it's it's not a difficult decision at that point because yeah it's we speak
12:56about real madrid at that time they were already the best and they're still the best so it's um for
13:03me it's um it's it was a dream uh i came there signed the contracts i couldn't believe what i
13:10saw
13:10actually with the whole facilities with how big this club was and i was already at one of the biggest
13:18teams in europe with with yeah with ajax so then you see even how big real madrid is um
13:26i start playing with 16 straight away in the in the juvenila in the in the 19s
13:31um and then yeah i did well but i i got many many injuries my injuries started basically at real
13:40madrid um that was the first injury just a very unlucky one i i fell down in a game um
13:52and yeah
13:53broke it had to get surgery the same um the same night um so and from that moment on i
14:01got just many
14:03many many many injuries after that from uh unfortunate uh injuries like wrist injury uh that has to get
14:12surgery for that uh but also uh especially my ankles for a big yeah issue in my career i had
14:21like three
14:21surgeries there but um yeah what i said like i i played for almost four or five years at real
14:29madrid
14:29had some some loan periods over there um from madrid to back to the netherlands first league and second
14:39league netherlands two teams called vvv venlo and uh almeria city um also to jaida uh i went for
14:50almost six months and all these periods weren't also that great i didn't play much got some injuries there as
14:58well um always seen always seniors slowing you down yeah i was it's it's it's been very tough with the
15:07injuries and obviously when you have injuries you get a lot more than just injuries what we already
15:13spoke about like again yeah mentally you get a little bit um your self-confidence goes down you you
15:21feel like that you you're not able to um to get injured anymore you need to perform you need to
15:28train harder you need to um fix everything so you can make sure that you are now making the the
15:35steps
15:35that yeah you want but also you feel that everyone around you and the the media and also wants because
15:45you are that guy and that player that um it's it's amazing obviously because you are you get that
15:52compliment that that someone and that people at real madrid are saying these things so that means that
15:58they have a lot of trust and a lot of believe in you and um i felt like i also
16:06felt like that at that
16:07time and i didn't feel that i was losing these uh that self-confidence or that i got a lot
16:13of self-doubts but
16:14when you get injuries and you're not playing and then you start believing more and more and more
16:21that you have to somehow show everyone that you are still that that promessa you know that that
16:28that feeling of like okay yeah um so i had um i had a tough tough roller coaster basically with
16:40with
16:40a lot of also loan periods that didn't work out um so after that and that's also how real madrid
16:50is if
16:50you don't perform at your loan periods it's just it's normal that it works like that then it's just
16:57it's over i understand that because real madrid wants you to be in the first team if you are not
17:03able to reach the first team or if you're not able to perform well at your loan periods where you
17:09are
17:09playing basically in teams that are way way uh uh smaller way um yeah not not as big as as
17:18real
17:18madrid and you're not performing there then it's normal that they are saying yeah of course sorry but
17:24now it stops true yeah so i that's also what they said always like if you were able to play
17:30um
17:33obviously i was out for a long time but if i was able to play i was always showing enough
17:37for them
17:38that i could still be um really uh important player for the future for them and um i feel like
17:45that's
17:46the confidence that i always felt from them and that's also why they renew my contract and extend
17:52it for two more years um so yeah it's it's it's it has been like obviously a tough period there
18:02with
18:02with many uh injuries but at the same time i also had very good stats when i was playing so
18:08it was not
18:09that i didn't score or that i didn't have any assist it was even that i did very well when
18:15i played
18:16but i just didn't play much because i was just out all the time and um the problem was like
18:22to play
18:23regularly yeah and when you are playing at real madrid you still feel that you are a player of
18:30real madrid um so you also believe that but when you leave real madrid and then you have the same
18:36injuries every time and you're dropping that level um then you start somehow making this uh conversation
18:44in your head like you were there and now you're here and then after that i went there and then
18:49you
18:50there and there and then and then it gets tougher and tougher in your head like how is it possible
18:55that i am not performing or not playing first 11 at third league i don't know let's say or second
19:02league there and there and there how is it possible and then this conversation are you have in your head
19:09is also showing on the pitch basically so then your feet are not doing the same thing you're not not
19:16playing with a free mind you're not playing with the confidence that i needed to have just to be
19:23completely free and play and enjoy and don't worry about what's next and i was always thinking like i
19:31need to get back i go here for one season just to show and then i then i make the
19:36step again to
19:37the next spot because i am uh still this this this player that needs to reach that level that everyone
19:45around me in real madrid but those in ajax already succeed because yeah all these players they
19:51basically went to champions league national team and i was as good or maybe even better as them so
19:58that's that's a conversation that you have all the time and um uh i think it was around 20 um
20:06i was
20:06playing back in folandam um went back to the people that i that i worked with in ajax they went
20:13to folandam to
20:14help the team uh go to the to the area division to the first league um then i did i
20:22did well they said
20:23we just give you your time to adapt and to to get used to uh to everything but we also
20:30believe in you
20:31as a player and then i did okay i was getting closer and closer and closer and then i got
20:38uh the pain in
20:39my ankle and had to go out for two years yeah without playing any uh any games uh any training
20:49sessions
20:49and just being in the gym and uh and having uh three surgeries in uh after each other so uh
20:57yeah that's that's been um true i i i i was always and and that's why i also struggle a
21:07little bit with
21:07saying goodbye i always believed very much in if you do everything for it and you work more than
21:15yeah anyone and you just show that um that you believe and that you that you're not giving up
21:23your situation will change that was something that i that i really believed in um and
21:31that also um gave me sometimes uh a tough mentally time because i always said to myself just keep on
21:40going just keep on going don't listen to it don't listen to it just keep on going and show everyone
21:45that you have it um and now i feel after again having the news that have another need to do
21:53another uh
21:53uh surgery and need to go again to find a new club um and also especially also the feeling that
22:01i want to
22:02give a voice to that other voice in my in my in my head saying like mink come on man
22:08you did everything
22:09we are just done it's it's over you are you are going to uh to if you push again you
22:17maybe will really
22:18lose like uh maybe you have to to get away from everyone then for four months you know you know
22:24like yeah just say stop now um it's enough and enjoy having your family friends there's also another
22:33life besides football please um say yes to that part also and don't be all the time so hard on
22:41yourself and
22:42that was a big big um um step for me to make and also conversations that i had for already
22:50i think
22:51maybe eight years with mental coaches that i work with you've been working yeah i was already from
22:58the age of 16 17 i start uh working with mental mental coaches because i was always very important
23:05yeah yeah i was i was very um nervous before games um also a bit it's a bit in my
23:13character that i am
23:15that i just want to show everyone how good i am that's also one of the reasons i believe that
23:20when
23:21you have a lot of tension in your body and because of the mental stuff is is is is pushing
23:27hard there
23:28then you feel like okay uh there's tension in your muscles there's tension in your head like i have to
23:33perform i need to show everyone then obviously that's also gonna reflect on injuries and i believe
23:40that also was a big part of why i had that many injuries um i had like uh uh like
23:48a tear in my
23:50quadriceps three times at real madrid all these things were just because i think there was a lot of
23:55tension in my body that was saying um we need to perform we need to do better we need to
24:00show everyone
24:01how how good i am um and it's you and not people who are saying it i mean yeah it
24:08was also for myself
24:09yeah yes yeah most of the time it was for myself and then how that was formed that why i
24:15had these
24:16feelings obviously because it's it's in my character but it's also because you get from a young age
24:24already the from everyone from the coaches from your teammates that i was deciding games by goals
24:31and assists i was making sure that we win i was making sure that um when i went home that
24:37i knew
24:38like yeah i performed really well but at some time you put like this standard and that you always need
24:43to get over it and when you feel like you are not able to reach it anymore that's gonna cost
24:49a lot of
24:50uh uh yeah self-doubt and a lot of uh yeah tough times in your in your own head we
24:58all know the
24:58stories of um of the best players obviously but like many of of us or many of these players that
25:06are
25:06even playing at academies of real madrid or whatever they maybe 10 is succeeding 10 is getting there but
25:13the other 90 also maybe stops because they are losing fun they don't know anymore why they played
25:20football they have mentally uh tough periods um they have all reason why um and what i feel like i
25:30really
25:30want to help uh uh people um especially players obviously with with yeah that this feeling is is
25:39is is is common it's it's it's it's it's normal to to have your to have yourself doubt and then
25:45i was
25:45thinking okay what what should i create for uh youth players from let's say the age of 14 till 22
25:54with a lot of pressure it could be from family it could be from social media it could be from
26:00teammates
26:00from coaches whatever could be injuries what we spoke about and i was thinking okay what what what do you
26:06need and i think what i'm building now could be really really uh helpful for the for the younger
26:13generation um and yeah i want to obviously tell you a lot about it but i need to be a
26:19little bit uh
26:21i need to wait a little bit when i was young i was always looking for things like i was
26:26checking if i
26:26could change my my diet i was doing meditation i was doing visualizations i was i was finding a way
26:33how i
26:33could please change the situation to being this great player again and that everyone would say okay
26:43he's back you know like he's he's he's he's really again that player um but i was not maybe doing
26:51it
26:51for the right reason i was just doing it for to show everyone that i am that guy but i
26:57want to i want
26:58that the players at that age do it for why they started why are they in love with the game
27:04why are
27:05they wanting it so badly um because if you are having fun you will be making way more steps on
27:13the
27:13pitch that if you have to somehow show everyone that you are that player and um you are not making
27:21that development that you are looking for so i think that's um that's the main idea that i want to
27:26to
27:26help players out with um and then yeah obviously i hope that that many players can uh yeah can yeah
27:36can that i can help out many players with it yeah true i got the um assigned jersey by all
27:42the the
27:43players from uh from the first team interesting yeah and um they uh they came to the well juni juni
27:53came
27:53to uh because it was juni who who signed you let's say yeah juni signed me back in the days
28:00um and um
28:02he came to the hospital with i have to think who was there yeah i remember that juni was there
28:08uh with
28:09a signed shirt with get well soon and um with all the signatures for all the all the big players
28:14obviously at first team with uh with the uh close number eight uh jersey and was he in your like
28:24your
28:25idol yeah it was funny because um he was was obviously number eight i was a little bit number
28:3010 uh at that time so he uh yeah juni felt like this is this is the nice gesture to
28:36because that
28:37someone he's from germany i'm from the netherlands maybe there's a great connection so i really appreciated
28:42that he felt like oh yeah close could be uh could be one of my uh my main place i
28:48was i was the biggest
28:49fan of isco back in the day yeah that was someone that i looked up to when i when i
28:55went to the games
28:55also the style of playing was similar to how i uh yeah like to play so um no it's uh
29:04these memories or
29:06i had one other story maybe i already said it somewhere else but i had a goodie a goodie as
29:11a coach
29:12yeah and that was this season of my third year at the juvenila where i was always number 10
29:21the season before was number 10 got the number 10 jersey for the youth league um but obviously
29:27goodie always was number 14 so he came to me after the when we started the season he said like
29:35mink i
29:35see a lot of myself in you as a player uh so i want to hand out my own uh
29:41uh shirt my 14 number to you
29:44this season so uh that's been uh one of the most uh best compliments that i ever ever had obviously
29:53yeah then i i watched some highlights again from him and i was like oh this this man is
29:57it's just on another another universe it's so quite happy to be called the the dutch goodie right yeah
30:07it's it's awesome so now all these memories of scoring goals or also seeing now some clips when
30:14we celebrate goals with hakimi or from gasilla or with these players and then but you played with
30:20valverde too right valverde yeah yeah yeah i played with him uh some games um always had a great
30:27connection with him as well he was always uh giving me a lot of uh trust and taking the the
30:33free kicks
30:34from him so uh that says enough so uh but uh no it's awesome to see now like where these
30:43players are
30:44now um but um now i i think that's that's the that's the biggest uh the biggest message here like
30:52obviously we can say like i didn't make it and then but i have memories that are staying for me
31:00forever
31:01um i'm also super proud that i played for for real Madrid um and yeah what happened next i think
31:09yeah
31:09i'm now it's gonna be part now of my journey to help other players to make sure that uh that
31:15i can
31:15help them out and and yeah and make sure that they are staying really close to themselves and hopefully
31:21not suffering that much in in their heads with the mentally uh health as as i had for for the
31:28last couple
31:29of years the best moment um why i had a few but i i have to go with with some
31:38moments at real madrid i
31:39had um this game in monaco that i just came back from my injury um that i came in in
31:46the half time
31:47we were losing and we played with an awesome team we had um valverde uh danny gomez oscar rodriguez
31:58hakemi uh seo seohana uh all these players were playing uh franchu yeah i can just call these names
32:08and it's just just just crazy how good this team was um um and i came in we were losing
32:17uh 2-0 if i
32:18remember right and then i came in i i i scored the 2-1 and then i scored also the
32:274-2 so we won that game
32:30um and we made it to the next uh next round and i remember that feeling of um scoring
32:39in that team with all these superstars now and the the the game was broadcasted here in the netherlands
32:47as well so many people didn't see me didn't see me play for the last couple of years but this
32:55game
32:56really could watch because it was broadcast on one of the dutch channels um and i remember that i
33:03opened my phone and it was just chaos like everyone was saying wow and that feeling of of being it's
33:11it's it's weird because you when you have a great game when everyone is just saying uh like congratulations
33:18that is a special uh feeling um and then scoring these goals for obviously real madrid if i if i
33:27think about it now it's just it's just awesome at that point you also feel it but it's just different
33:33because you're still one of one of the boys one of the main main talents main characters of maybe
33:40making it to the first yeah you are part of the movie you were part of the movie and now
33:45looking back
33:45to it you're like wow that feeling that everyone was there but also that feeling of um scoring these
33:53goals and making sure that we go to the next round isn't just awesome so i see sometimes these videos
34:00back and i'm like wow that was just without any i was just free there you know like playing enjoying
34:07um scoring passion yeah so that's nice to see yeah this was funny yeah i uh yeah ronaldo obviously
34:16played at that time uh at real madrid and he was yeah it was crazy and then obviously to go
34:24in the
34:24swimming pool and then as a as a young player you are not going to speak i am not going
34:30to speak with
34:31ronaldo that's not my character i'm just making sure that i leave a lot of space for him and how
34:36old were
34:37you i was maybe 18 19 yeah and then but i saw him there um and he was with with
34:45pepe at that time
34:46um and i was like okay what should i do but i had to do that exercise for my physio
34:51it was like the
34:53contraste the cold warm um so i was like okay yeah i have to go there now as well and
35:01then i was like
35:01i'm not going to say anything i just let him do his thing and then he starts speaking to me
35:06um and then
35:07we start speaking in english after some point because my spanish was okay but yeah we're not
35:12overly speaks perfect english as well and then he starts speaking with me he's starting to ask all
35:17these questions and then i said that i'm from the netherlands and they said i know i know a few
35:23words
35:23in the netherlands and then he said a few cursing uh cursing words in the netherlands so i think he
35:28learned it from maybe the dutch players that i that played with him in the in the in the first
35:33thing
35:33obviously so these type of memories are just just funny to to think about and i just yeah it's just
35:41awesome to uh yeah to to have these yeah also it's the weird conversation with cursing but it's still
35:48it's still a nice uh nice experience yeah yeah so i i trained sometimes with castilla then he was a
35:55coach
35:55there um so many times under him yeah it was just uh him as a coach also with guti when
36:08they speak you
36:09just listen it's uh it's just someone that um you look up to so you just want to make sure
36:18that everything
36:18he says you are able to to to learn from and um yes he done uh i didn't have a
36:26full season with him
36:27but i had many training sessions um yeah and he was uh yeah awesome coach obviously then he to the
36:34first team as well he did he did great so yeah he won three champions league yeah and then you
36:41were
36:41your coach by him so i mean yeah something that not everyone can say true true no so uh all
36:48these
36:48all these memories with with these coaches and walking there and everything was organized so well
36:55at real madrid was just just a dream yeah i would make the same decision um this is one of
37:05the the best
37:06memories obviously that i had to play for a team like real madrid so i would always make the same
37:12decision um i would like it's it's difficult to say because i think injuries have been a big part of
37:20of of of the whole story um but yeah i it's very tough i always try to find the solution
37:28what i what i
37:29what i should have or needed to do different or made maybe make sure that i could change the situation
37:37but it's it's very difficult for me to to really know that especially knowing that i had these
37:42injuries not not able to play for for many times um but yeah i um i look at back at
37:51it at that moment
37:52when i was 16 still with yeah 100 i would make the same choice and go for the dream to
37:58play for
38:01one of the things is uh rest in my head so i'm not expecting me to be uh already uh
38:13the big
38:13businessman or the best coach or trainer because i know they have to learn um so that that gives me
38:21a
38:21lot of like that i think like okay chill and and nice and but what excites me also is is
38:28is helping
38:28players um understanding okay what they what they been through uh helping them with advisors but i
38:36also don't want to do only that with advisors i only also want to stay on the pitch helping them
38:43with the technical abilities but i think i i can do both good and pretty well because i was always
38:50a
38:50very gifted player with with the ball um and now with the whole understanding how the football world
38:58also can be um i think i have these two parts now that i can really work together so i'm
39:04i'm really
39:05excited to to be uh to be a coach like a youth coach um i'm excited to be uh working
39:11on this this this
39:12new project that i am sharing here now um and then with that together i'm just i'm very excited maybe
39:22to see players with a smile on the pitch and just playing for free without having all these different
39:30conversations and what i feel now i already did it the last couple of years in my career that i
39:37was
39:37always doing that besides my own training sessions just maybe uh to understand that it was giving me
39:44a lot of energy because then you go back to why players started the smile the fun the uh just
39:52playing
39:53free um gave me a lot of gave me a lot of energy and i just want to keep on
39:58doing that making sure that
40:00um yeah that that i i stay close to why i also started with with with playing football yeah that's
40:08that's very nice and that's pressure like playing free i see i think that that's the the main thingy
40:14yeah true and by the way did you manage to answer all the messages you got on your phone after
40:22your
40:22announcement must be madness no uh i i try to i still have a few uh few left that i
40:29have to uh to
40:30answer but uh no but it's it's it's so nice that all people that i didn't uh spoke to for
40:35some time they
40:36all reacted very very nice and give me a lot of support and i think it's also good i'm not
40:44sure
40:44how it is in spain at the moment but in the netherlands this this this um this thing and that's
40:51i
40:51really like that that uh people are understanding that also for youth players or for players that are
40:57playing very high are are also suffering sometimes with mental uh health uh problems or issues in
41:05spain we are improving doing that yeah and that's and i think that's that's something that is necessary
41:11um definitely and um yeah i'm i'm i'm hopefully happy to be part of that uh or if it's in
41:19the netherlands
41:20or in spain or just with with one or two kids i'm just just happy to share my story happy
41:26to uh work
41:27on this new project to be on the pitch with players to make sure that is that it's it's it's
41:33a normal
41:34thing to share and to let them understand that this is also a big part of a big part of
41:40the game and
41:41that they need to understand that they can they can speak with with people around them to to help them
41:47so um yeah and in in in netherlands it's it's growing also there it can be uh be much better
41:54and improved but yeah i'm also happy to hear that it's in spain it's also uh yeah
42:17so
42:22you
42:23you
