00:00My name is Natalia Moreno, also known as Bulina Moreno, I am an activist in human rights with emphasis on
00:06disability.
00:08A person with disability is, above all, a person and has rights to all spaces and places possible than the
00:15rest of the human beings.
00:17I, at least, have found many barriers to access in terms of infrastructure.
00:26For example, I want to take a coffee to a certain place where I want to go and I can't
00:33enter.
00:33Everything because there are stairs, because the place is not accessible, because the place is not wide, etc.
00:40Although there was a first national disability law that was in the year 97,
00:48Colombia, let's say, has stayed a lot.
00:50For example, in terms of public transport, we have almost 15 years of delay in that topic,
00:57because at that time we were talking about that transport should start to be accessible,
01:02and, unfortunately, today we find that buses are not accessible.
01:05In other topics, such as education, work, we find many barriers,
01:12and that is one of the issues that Colombia should start to transform.
01:17We have been in many situations of segregation and isolation.
01:22People with disabilities practically keep recluse in their houses,
01:26because many times they can't get out of their homes.
01:29We have found special education institutions,
01:33because children with intellectual disability disabilities can't be in inclusive spaces when that is not true.
01:43So, we believe that we should start to break with these views,
01:47with these concepts that are also very linked to the prejudices
01:51and stereotypes that we have about that person,
01:55about the other person who is not the same as me.
01:56In that sense, we need to build societies more conscious,
02:01so that we can also generate a recognition of the other
02:04and also have the possibility of sharing with the other,
02:11regardless of the diversity or the difference that that person has.
02:15So, thank you.
02:17We'll see you next time.
