African ambassadors welcome China's zero-tariff policy
Transcript
00:12In 2024, there was the summit here and President Xi Jinping outlined 10 priority areas for
00:20support and one of them is the zero tariff for goods from Africa that is coming into
00:25force on the 1st of May this year.
00:28That is significant because it's going to be a win-win partnership for Africa.
00:32I think it's a very important opportunity for Africa.
00:36China is the biggest market in the world, very lucrative market, very vibrant and to
00:41be able to access that market I think is going to be extremely important for our industrialization
00:47in Africa, for our modernization efforts but also for us to improve efficiency and effectiveness
00:55in our business models and production systems.
00:59But also for China, this will be also mutually beneficial.
01:09The zero tariff is a benefit for all parts of Africa, so I am sure the African products
01:19will come to China.
01:22For China, for us, the noix de cajou is our production.
01:27So, Guinea-Bissau produce more than 150.000 tons annually and we export all the cajou for Vietnam
01:37and the Yen.
01:37So, I am sure that with the zero tariff, Guinea-Bissau will profit and export the noix
01:46of cajou in China.
01:47And, already, the Guineans import a lot of Chinese merchandise on the Guinean-Bissau.
01:57So, this will facilitate the commerce between the two parties and I hope that it continues,
02:04the politics there continue for Africa and for the development of the two Etats.
