00:00I'm Camila Zapata, I'm a orphan, victim of a feminicidio.
00:04My mother is called Maria Rocío Zapata, she was 43 years old.
00:08She, during many years, was a vendedor ambulant outside of a children's school.
00:13The last October 17th of October 2021, my mother was victim of a feminicidio.
00:22She had been denounced by the Fiscalía, she had an order of caution and alejation,
00:28but really never, never, never did nothing by the Fiscalía.
00:32Never took them seriously these denunciations.
00:35We stayed alone with my brother, we stayed at the deriva.
00:39We took the house where we were and we didn't have where to live.
00:43When we lost our mother, our lives broke in two,
00:48because we didn't have any more family here in Bogotá.
00:51And we stayed totally lost, we didn't know what to do in that moment.
00:57How to start our lives without a mother.
00:59I try to asumir everything as a mother.
01:01I try to take care of all the parties,
01:05of this judicial process that is so victimized here in Colombia.
01:09There are no guarantees, there are no support for the children who are orphaned.
01:15For me, it's victimized since the beginning.
01:18When they're captured by the police, they go to the patrol where the murder of my mother is.
01:24Although they have abandoned me in life, my mother is still alive.
01:27And this spirit, the strong and strong spirit that she had had,
01:31me it happened to me in this life.
01:33I always try to say to the women,
01:35no, no, this is not allowed to be allowed, this is machismo, this is violence.
01:40I think that she is happy to tell her story and make it visible.
01:46And we have to go ahead for them, for the memory of them,
01:50and to make it more resilient in what they were in life
01:52and what they are still for us in this life.
01:556.
