00:00Today is a great honor for both the House and Senate to welcome His Majesty King Charles
00:06III to address a joint meeting of Congress.
00:09It has been 35 years since a British monarch addressed the elected representatives of the
00:14American people.
00:15In that time, the world has changed dramatically.
00:18But in many ways, the same tests remain before us.
00:22Conflict still grips regions across the globe.
00:25Russia grows more aggressive.
00:27The Middle East remains unstable.
00:30And the future of the Transatlantic Alliance hangs in the balance.
00:35Today, the visit of King Charles III should serve as a reminder to the President of the
00:40United States and to every elected official in this country, friends and allies matter.
00:48And most of all, for the security of Europe, NATO matters.
00:53I encourage His Majesty to impress upon the President the absolute importance of NATO.
01:00I hope he's able to get Trump to listen and understand the stakes.
01:04NATO must endure.
01:06It must stay strong.
01:09Our national security depends on it.
01:11The security of much of the world depends on it.
01:14To walk away from NATO would be a terrible mistake that will reverberate for generations and make
01:19Americans far less safe.
01:21Trump must listen and understand the stakes.
01:25As our nation wages Donald Trump's reckless war with a dangerous and erratic enemy,
01:31And as the Department of Homeland Security is still not funded because of the hijinks within the President's
02:01of the United States and the United States and the United States.
02:03Does Donald Trump roll up his sleeves and say, let's solve these problems?
02:08No.
02:08He's focused on this ballroom, this gilded, gold-plated, taxpayer-funded ballroom, instead
02:16of focusing on the important national security issues facing the country.
02:21Trump's values are perverse, just perverse.
02:25If the President and House Republicans truly care about our national security, fund DHS,
02:33fund the Secret Service, fund CISA, fund the Coast Guard, fund all the crucial law-abiding
02:39agencies that every Democrat and every Republican in the Senate unanimously voted to fund.
02:47Not once, but twice.
02:50Now House Republicans say they're tinkering with technical changes to our legislation.
02:54Speaker Johnson, our bipartisan bill doesn't need any changes.
03:01Just pass the damn thing.
03:04Pass the damn thing.
