Seis jóvenes activistas se declararon en huelga de hambre desde finales de agosto, para forzar un cambio en la política alemana sobre el medio ambiente. Después de tres semanas sin comida, uno de los jóvenes tuvo que ser trasladado a un hospital, ya que sufría de fatiga.
