Durante los últimos meses aumentaron las solicitudes de asilo de ciudadanos nicaragüenses para vivir en otros países, debido a la persecución y represión política del gobierno de Daniel Ortega. En Costa Rica, unos 120 mil nicaragüenses han pedido asilo desde el 2018, tras estallar las protestas contra el presidente de Nicaragua.
