00:00And just moments ago, Fox News Senior Foreign Correspondent Trey Yings, he sat down with Secretary of State Marco Rubio
00:06in an exclusive interview, and they talked about a lot of things, including the Iran conflict and the White House
00:11Correspondents' Dinner. He joins us from the State Department. What were your top takeaways, Trey?
00:23All right. Fox News speaks with Secretary Rubio after WSCA dinner shooting. Yes.
00:32And into effect between the United States and Iran. We talk not just about that conflict, but also the negotiations
00:38between Israel. Yes, they just talk about everything going on. Shooting, ceasefire, blockade, war, everything.
00:47And Lebanon and the ceasefire inside the Gaza Strip. But I also asked the Secretary about the White House Correspondents'
00:53Dinner he attended on Saturday night. Here's what he had to say.
00:56Hi. You were at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday night. I'm curious what was going through your mind
01:02when shots were fired outside of the ballroom?
01:06I didn't hear shots. I just saw a bunch of security people rushing in from the, I guess, the back
01:10of the room, front stage. So the first thing you wonder immediately, just knowing kind of what's out there is,
01:14is there an internal threat? Is there a threat inside of the ballroom itself?
01:19And then the second is, you know, what are they dealing with some mass event that's happening from the...
01:24Oh, damn. Security Rubio said, saw security people rushing to stage. That's what I see. Because they are so busy
01:32at that moment in the dinner.
01:35...outside in. So, but I saw them follow all the security protocols. I was watching the security steps they took
01:42around the president. It was pretty apparent at that point that they were trying to remove him from the scene
01:46as is appropriate.
01:48So, you know, look, I mean, it was sort of an unfortunate situation that happened there where one individual can
01:52disrupt what is, you know, one of the bigger nights in Washington, especially when the president attends. So that's kind
01:58of the world we live in right now.
02:00And you immediately went to the White House?
02:01Yeah, we did. Yes, they immediately went to the White House. And this is what happened that that exact moment
02:09when the shooting happened at the hotel.
02:12And we went backstage to the command center where the president sat in the back and sort of the first
02:16assessment that needed to be made was to be clear that, you know, all the continuity of government things were
02:21in place.
02:22Yeah, and that one more thing, important priority that everybody is safe or not quickly assessed to be the case.
02:29The focus for the administration this week remains on those negotiations between the United States and Iran.
02:36You'll remember Saturday morning before the dinner, the president decided not to send special envoys Kushner and Witkoff to Islamabad,
02:43Pakistan over questions about how serious.
02:45Oh, damn. First they said they are not sending the voice president to there and Jerry Vons and they are
02:51not even saying those two monkeys to there. Damn.
02:55...were about making a good faith deal. I asked the secretary about the Strait of Hormuz and reports that indicate
03:01the Iranians are willing to open it.
03:03Okay.
03:04Early on Saturday, President Trump canceled the planned talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, encouraging the delegation not to go.
03:14Negotiations 2.0.
03:15On Saturday, the president canceled the talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, keeping special envoys Kushner and Witkoff here in the United
03:23States.
03:24Yes.
03:24He said just 10 minutes later, the Iranians made a new offer on paper and it was better.
03:29What they mean by opening the straits is, yes, the straits are opened as long as you coordinate with Iran,
03:34get our permission or we'll blow you up and you pay us.
03:37Damn, we'll blow you up.
03:39That's not opening the straits. Those are international waterways. They cannot normalize.
03:47Iran's control of Hormuz. This is something exclusive we have right here.
03:53...normalize a system in which the Iranians decide who gets to use an international waterway and how much you have
03:58to pay them to use it.
04:00Two million dollars to four million dollars per sip are paying to go through the Hormuz.
04:06...secretary spoke about how the Iranians are actually willing to speak at this point given the pressure that was applied
04:12on the regime, not just economically with the US blockade against Iranian ports, but also the firepower during Operation Epic
04:19Fury. As for any possible resumption of...
04:22...firepower, firepower, damn. Epic Fury, Operation Epic Fury. Okay.
04:27...the secretary said it is President Trump's decision to make. Dana.
04:31...alright.
04:31...good to have you stateside. Thank you.
