00:03:35So the stakes are definitely higher.

00:06:50it takes a couple songs for me to get comfortable
00:06:52so it's such a challenge to speak
00:06:54because you only have one shot
00:06:55to really be authentic to who you are
00:06:59I grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana
00:07:01My mom sang Worship in the Church
00:07:04and we would sing together
00:07:06so that's kind of like where my love for music came from
00:07:09is my mom
00:07:09I moved almost eight years ago to Nashville
00:07:13and actually came to Belmont
00:07:14came here for maybe 60 days
00:07:17but we are still alumni
00:07:18and we're here for only 60 days
00:07:20This week, I'm singing Human by The Killers
00:07:25The song is a little bit more lively
00:07:28I'm not going to have a guitar in my hand
00:07:29so it's not really in my comfort zone

00:22:48is on for Sheldon who hopes to do the same. The new thing I've discovered about Idol is
00:22:54that it's really stripping me right back to basics. I've done a lot of TV shows and
00:22:59I've always completely covered up in a mask and it's avant-garde. There's crystals and
00:23:02diamonds, sequins, big gowns, big dresses. This is the most stripped-back, vulnerable
00:23:08version of myself ever. For this round I'll be singing Good Luck Babe by Chappell Run.
00:23:16The vocal in this performance is a lot bigger than my normal ones. I challenge
00:23:20myself with a big track.
00:23:27It's the first time my voice has ever cracked and it cracked bad, real bad. Am I freaking
00:23:33out about it? Yeah, it's definitely in my head.

00:35:57Rehearsal was okay. It wasn't the best. I feel like you're kind of wearing the mistakes. So like when you
00:36:05didn't hit the note, you're wearing it on your face.

00:36:15really hard on him.
