Ever wonder how the cheese on a frozen pizza lasts so long? This Food & Wine associate editor has the answer. 00:00You can kind of see like the distinct lines of where the actual shredded cheese shreds have
00:05fallen. And the reason for this a lot of time, and this happens with all sort of prepackaged
00:09shredded cheeses, is they have what's called anti-caking agents, which are basically things
00:14that are used to preserve and extend the shelf life. That's why for stuff like pasta or pizza,
00:19if you are making it at home, you do want to shred your own cheese because it's just going
00:23to melt a little better because it doesn't have those anti-caking agents.
