00:00A 29-year-old unemployed woman was fined 3,500 ringgit by a Johor Bahru magistrate's court
00:08for cheating a hospital Sultana Amina patient into handing over 700 ringgit.
00:15Noor Shahira Abdul Razak pleaded guilty to deceiving a foreign victim,
00:20identified as Ghazi Israfil, into believing that payment was required
00:26during the discharge process at the hospital.
00:28The offence was said to have taken place at the Auxiliary Police Unit
00:33and admission registration counter area of the hospital on April 21.
00:39According to the Statement of Facts, the victim would not have handed over 700 ringgit
00:45had he not been misled into thinking the payment was part of the hospital discharge procedure.
00:52Noor Shahira was charged under Section 417 of the Penal Code for Cheating
00:58which provides for a jail term of up to five years, or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
01:06Magistrate Nabila Nizam imposed the fine in default five months' imprisonment.
