00:00Foreign Minister Ling Jialong is touting the Taiwan model of diplomacy as he visits Eswatini, Taiwan's only diplomatic ally in
00:08Africa.
00:09Ling oversaw Taiwanese businesses, signing a letter of intent to expand innovation investment in the African kingdom.
00:16He says that shared prosperity between Taiwan and Eswatini shows that Taiwan is a reliable global partner.
00:23Ling is representing the country at a jubilee celebrating the 40th anniversary of Eswatini King Maswati III's accession to the
00:32throne.
00:32But while there, he is also checking in on Taiwan's aid projects, including an oil reserve facility that Taiwan is
00:39building for Eswatini.
00:40Some analysts say projects like these are important for Taiwan to boost ties with Eswatini, but also help increase its
00:48footprint in Africa as a whole.
00:49So, having Eswatini to display what we have achieved so far, I think it's very important to remind African people
01:00Taiwan has been part of their economic development.
01:04Ling is an Eswatini on behalf of President Lai Ching-do, who was supposed to be there, but had to
01:10cancel his trip at the last minute after three nations along his travel path blocked overflight permissions for his charter
01:17flight.
01:17Taipei says that those three countries did so at the request of China, which claims Taiwan as its territory.
01:24Lin wrote on social media that the world is at a turning point as global supply chains are being reshaped.
01:31And as Taiwanese companies expand their footprint abroad, Eswatini is emerging as a key partner as well as a gateway
01:38into the African market.
