00:00former tobago west mp chamfer joe lewis and the former minority leader kelvin morris both
00:06remained confident on sunday that they would secure the win for leading the pnm in tobago
00:12i think a high turnout auger well for the people's national movement this is not about one person or
00:22about personalities this is about our duty to rebuild our party so if pnmites from all corners
00:32from all walks from all factions come out to vote no matter who wins tonight the party wins and then
00:39we have more people who have returned at least 500 new persons have signed up to become members in
00:46order to get ready for this election i know in my walk in my registration process i got a the
00:53majority of those persons on board so i feel rather confident it's a very tedious process here's a lot
01:00of waiting you know i mean the election supervisory committee they have done the best with the
01:06resources they have but of course it can be a bit of an inconvenience waiting so long
01:13i have tried to make contact with the supervisor to at least ask him to consider adding additional
01:21polling boots so that it would allow more people to vote at the same time um you know there's some
01:29teaching issues some errors in spelling you know some persons not finding their names on the list who
01:35would have voted in previous internal elections but all in all you know i'm happy that after 50 nil we
01:42have so many people still interested in coming out and ensure that they express their democratic
01:47right within the pnm tobago council to choose their next team of leaders for the executive of the
01:54pnm in tobago so i feel quite confident you know i'm seeing a lot of faces who would have pledged
02:00support so that's supposed to be a good thing for me and therefore i want to thank everyone who would
02:05have really uh who have already came out to this process a steady stream of voters across the nine
02:12polling stations the young the not so young even those in wheelchairs participating in the process
02:18and call for the new leader to bring about unity in moving pnm tobago farwin how long have you been
02:25a
02:26pnn member all my life and that is 76 years i was 76 yesterday and you feel comfortable with where
02:32the party is heading right now well i hope we're heading in the right direction i really hope so
02:39that this would you know bring some kind of guidance and stability and everything else you think you made
02:50the right choice in terms of the leader that you chose yes definitely how the process was this
02:55morning for you you are quite smooth so far quite smooth do you think you made the right choice in
03:03terms of choosing your new leader i believe so i believe so what do you think the pnm needs to
03:09do to
03:10return to power it was a small process everything went small do you think you made the right choice in
03:29terms of the leadership of the party i think so in terms of the campaigning do you think in terms
03:37of the
03:37campaigning that you would have made the right choice today yes because i usually look at it on
03:43television and i think i did make the right choice what do you think the pnm needs to do to
03:49regain power
03:52unite unite understand purpose understand people reach out reach out and unite unite because at the end of
04:05this process we are all one pnm the polls opened at 8 a.m and closed at 6 p.m
04:14a new political leader of
04:16the pnm tobago council would be announced soon elizabeth williams tv6 news
