00:03The defendant will be arraigned on Monday in federal district court, but make no mistake,
00:11there will be many more charges based upon the information that we are learning in this very
00:16fluid situation. Thank you. As the mayor mentioned, at approximately 8.36 tonight,
00:22an individual charged a U.S. Secret Service checkpoint here in the lobby area of the hotel.
00:28He was armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives. As he ran through that
00:34checkpoint, members of law enforcement from the United States Secret Service
00:37intercepted that individual. This is a very preliminary investigation at this point.
00:42We do know that law enforcement exchanged gunfire with the individual. We do know that a U.S.
00:48Secret Service Unicorn Division officer was struck in his vest. He was transported to a local hospital
00:54for treatment. He seems to be in good spirits at this time. The suspect in this case, he was not
01:00struck by gunfire. However, he was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated. Again, we're very
01:06early in the investigation. We have members of the United States Secret Service, the Metropolitan
01:10Police Department, and the FBI here to continue to investigate this matter. But at this point,
01:16it does appear he is a lone actor, a lone gunman that does not appear to be any sort of
01:20danger
