06:02And I looked at my own stepfather

06:04You know he sanded hardwood floors

06:08Three summers between 12 and like 15
06:11I actually got fired from that job
06:13Not that I was bad

06:16But it was actually a good reason
06:17He was like oh you don't want to do this work
06:19It's back breaking work
06:19You know I'm sanding these floors
06:20But I'm like yeah
06:21But you make everything so beautiful

06:40And that's where I tapped into

06:51But I always look back now

07:02And so I look back and I'm like

23:08This is like a great show to start with

23:18I mean I spent the last like 15 years
23:21Pretty much doing exclusively theater

23:23And I thought that was going to be my life

23:27It was it's such a great medical show
23:29I'm generally not
23:30I don't usually watch medical shows
23:32That's not usually my vibe
23:33But I watched it
23:35Because Noah came on
23:36And I was like okay
23:36I'm respectful
23:37Obviously you watch the thing
23:38And I was like I was addicted
23:39I hated him
23:40I was like I could not stop watching it
23:42I wanted to
23:43It was so hard to not keep going
23:45It was like 2 a.m.
23:46And I was cursing Noah Wiley
23:48I was like I
23:48I was like I couldn't
23:50It's so addictive
23:51It's so cool how it shot too
23:53It shot like a shift basically
23:56It's like one shift
23:57Do you
23:57This is what I find fascinating too
23:59You actors you're so lucky
24:01You get to learn from these brilliant people
24:02The skills that
24:03Whatever skill set you have
24:04That you're doing
24:05So do you all have like real people on set
24:07Like all these like things you're doing
24:09These medical scenarios you're doing
24:10Do you learn anything?
24:11Oh yeah
24:11Oh yeah
24:12I mean we have Dr. Joe Sachs
24:14Who is our like chief medical director
24:16He is a practicing ER physician
24:18He was also one of the head writers on our show
24:20As well as on ER
24:21Yeah
24:21And so he has been double dipping
24:23In actual healthcare work
24:25And television work
24:27For a very very long time
24:28And we got a whole team of people
24:30That make sure that everything that we do
24:32Is as authentic as possible
24:34And that was a very clear priority
24:37And a clear gesture of the show
24:39From the beginning
24:39Was we wanted to make a medical show
24:43For people who work in the medical profession
24:46Because I think we've seen a lot of these shows
24:48And you know I come from a family of healthcare workers
24:50I was going to say both your parents are from that world
24:52Yeah my mom is a lifelong ER nurse
24:54My dad is a lifelong paramedic
24:56And so it did not occur to me
24:58Until really the show came along
25:00Just like how much they kept from me
25:04In order to be present for me as parents
25:09And that sort of compartmentalization
25:11Was something that was definitely my way into the show
25:16And into the character
25:18And you know to this day
25:19Some of the most moving messages that I get
25:21I get messages from partners of people
25:24That work in emergency rooms across the country
25:28And they'll reach out and they'll write me a message
25:30And be like hey I just want to say thank you so much
25:33Because this show has given me an insight into
25:37It opens our eyes to what's actually going on
25:39Yeah
25:39And it has brought my relationship together
25:41And I think those are the messages that I've gotten
25:44That have really really let me know
25:47That we're sort of on the right track
25:48Yeah
25:49You know
25:49Y'all do a great job
25:50It's so
25:51It's you're respectful of the environment
25:53And it looks like you're respecting of what they do
25:55And it's also great storytelling
25:56And how it's done like in one season

38:57From six to ten p.m.
