00:00This time, on Highway Through Hell...
00:03This is just gonna be ugly.
00:06...rocking the rollover...
00:07She's a little heavy.
00:08...a fresh team...
00:10It's smokin'!
00:11...over the edge...
00:12No!
00:14It's not good.
00:16...Jamie...
00:17Back end's going over.
00:18...holds on...
00:20Oh, oh.
00:21That's stiffy, eh?
00:22...and aggressive...
00:24Hold on, hold up.
00:25...gets down and dirty...
00:28Oh!
00:32Anybody know how the crow's nest is?
00:35On Southern British Columbia's Highway 3...
00:39Take your time on a good windy and flat tail.
00:46Truckers navigate the Twisting Route...
00:50Just be careful on a couple of the turns there, eh?
00:54...through the Cascade Mountains...
00:57Anybody who's traveled Highway 3...
00:59...knows it's a switchback area.
01:02Rock face on one side...
01:04...then there's a cliff on the other.
01:06Very narrow roads.
01:09But as daylight fades...
01:12When she gets dark, it's a whole different game, you know?
01:18...and there's an accident.
01:25Oh, man.
01:28Right across the entire highway.
01:32Heading to the mess...
01:33...in a reliable towing pick-up...
01:36Speed is a lot of the factor around here.
01:40Merritt Regional Manager...
01:42Lane Perry.
01:43If you're not coming down that hill right...
01:46...somebody's gonna get hurt.
01:48This is my backyard.
01:50I like to be one of those guys that make sure that...
01:53...we're up there cleaning the roads up.
01:56Let's go!
01:58Following in reliable's 35-ton heavy...
02:01...big bloom.
02:02Got a call from the RCMP like an hour ago.
02:06Junior Operator Josh Bunz.
02:09We're just trying to get there as quick as we have.
02:13I come from a mining background...
02:15...and it's got a lot of similarities with towing.
02:19I always admired the tow trucks...
02:20...and I always thought the wreckers were...
02:22...very impressive pieces of equipment.
02:24Yo!
02:26Man, this sucks.
02:29That looks like it was a nasty ride.
02:31This is just gonna be ugly.
02:35Okay.
02:38Also on scene, another reliable 35-ton...
02:42...with Junior Operator...
02:44...Katelyn Weldry.
02:46This is my first rollover and recovery at night.
02:50What a bunch of carnage.
02:52Right?
02:53It is on its side, totally blocking the road.
02:56She's a little heavy.
02:58This is a fully loaded trailer.
03:00The cargo is produce.
03:02Mainly apples.
03:05With the wreck blocking both lanes of the highway...
03:10Okay.
03:11...the team needs to act fast.
03:15We want to get the truck off the road as quick as we can...
03:19...so everybody can carry on with their life.
03:23It sounds like it's gonna be a fun trailer pickup.
03:49It sounds like it's gonna be a fun trailer pickup.
03:51The road's closed both ways.
03:56Yeah, there's a trucking trailer across the road.
04:00The pressure's on.
04:02Concerning, right?
04:03For Team Reliable to clear a semi blocking the road.
04:08Okay.
04:08It is a very critical artery from Vancouver to Alberta.
04:14Definitely a priority right now is to get the trailer out of the way and get the lanes open.
04:20Apparently the driver was okay but he's brought to the hospital.
04:26Half an hour earlier, the fully loaded semi lost control.
04:35Slamming into the rock face before rolling over.
04:45We're gonna pull the trailer away from the truck.
04:48The quickest way to clear the highway...
04:52Drag it right off the road.
04:55Shriek!
04:56...is to do it one piece at a time.
04:59I want to get Big Blue straight on right here.
05:03Okay.
05:03We're gonna hook up Big Blue and hopefully just drag the trailer off to the side of the road.
05:12Jay!
05:13Bring it back.
05:15Right here, bud.
05:18We ran a snatch block just to make sure we were doubling our pulling power.
05:23You guys ready?
05:24Give her.
05:26Lane takes on the controls.
05:29Babe, we're separating.
05:31So Josh...
05:33...can be his eyes on the kingpin.
05:35Okay, hold on. Go slow.
05:38This trailer is fully loaded and it seems very heavy.
05:42Yeah, they're separated.
05:44Okay.
05:45Whoa!
05:46With a loaded trailer weighing 45,000 pounds.
05:51We're gonna get you to...
05:52Turn around.
05:53Turn around and be pointed towards the front of this.
05:56Lane opts to clear it off the road.
05:59Then we'll see what we can do.
06:01Okay.
06:02Before they figure out how to ride it.
06:06Because there's so much weight in the trailer...
06:08That's good, Josh!
06:11We need to find the best angle to pull the trailer out.
06:14There's holes right here past me in that chain.
06:20Soft strap around the front.
06:24Strong enough?
06:26I think I'm gonna double it up if I got enough chain.
06:29Good.
06:30Boom!
06:31Two.
06:32Two.
06:34I want somebody on that end to just watch the trailer.
06:38Yeah.
06:38And then I want somebody on that end to watch the trailer.
06:41Okay?
06:43I'm worried that we may rip the trailer in half.
06:47The integrity is what we're worried about.
06:51Because all the weight is pushing on it and it's not sitting up right any longer.
06:56Okay.
06:56Here we go, boys!
06:57Stay!
06:58Get!
07:06Keep going, yep!
07:10Just making sure that the trailer moves as one unit.
07:15Because we don't want it to break up.
07:18Yeah, it's all moving as one!
07:20Yep!
07:24Smoking!
07:26But as the trailer, inches off the road.
07:31No!
07:33Hang on!
07:49How is highway going to the valley?
07:53180 kilometers west.
07:56Rush hour.
07:59On highway one.
08:04Wow!
08:06Look at that!
08:08A green 50 ton is on the move.
08:11Just another night on the highway one.
08:14With Al Quiring at the wheel.
08:18Fifth wheel pin came disconnected somehow.
08:22Heading out onto the highway for a trailer disconnect from a tractor.
08:28Not a great spot.
08:30The semi was traveling at speed.
08:33Something happened.
08:35When the trailer separated.
08:40Probably made some sparks, I bet.
08:44It's definitely clear that it came disconnected and fell off the back of the truck.
08:50It's a lot better than being flipped over on its side, that's for sure.
08:54And maybe when it pinned in, it didn't pin in right.
08:58With rush hour just starting, Al needs to remove the dangerous distraction.
09:05The traffic is horrendous out there.
09:08Backed up everywhere on the highway.
09:10It's good as night as any to plant potatoes.
09:16With the front of the trailer flat on the road, it's pretty hard to get a chain underneath the trailer.
09:24Al is forced to feel his way in, to hook his chains.
09:29I've told many, many broken trailers.
09:33It's just a process of getting the chains set up.
09:38And that'll give me enough that I can pick the front of the trailer out.
09:45But as he finally lifts the trailer...
09:51A closer look...
09:55Reveals the trailer is severely compromised.
10:00The trailer frame is completely broken.
10:01This is going to become a real issue due to haul this unit off the highway.
10:07Just going to have a look in the trailer before we lift it right up.
10:10I got to see what the actual load consists of.
10:13And see how much weight is on the front of that trailer.
10:17At this point, we're hoping maybe we can just get it down to the parking lot here.
10:22Toll man's worst nightmare.
10:24It's got a full load.
10:26And the trailer frame is broken.
10:29Oh, are you kidding me?
10:34Anybody know what's happening on Highway 1?
10:37Rush hour in the Fraser Valley.
10:41Recovery in process.
10:44Oh.
10:46What is this?
10:48A dropped trailer.
10:51Fragile, whatever it is.
10:53As Al, in a delicate situation.
10:56You don't want to see a big, fragile sign.
10:59The load is ceramic tiles, weighing 80,000 pounds.
11:05My mom always said I was a bull in a china shop.
11:10And I see that, it's like, whoa, let's close the doors.
11:16To get the compromised trailer off the road.
11:20We're just going to slide the axles at the back.
11:24Al will need to use every trick he has up his sleeve.
11:29It's the power of will.
11:32See if we can get the axles underneath it a little.
11:35We're going to move the wheels forward underneath the trailer a little bit,
11:39so it's carrying more weight.
11:41Yeah, going, going, going, going.
11:45Well, you got to go a couple of feet, but it's sliding.
11:49Yeah.
11:51Transferring it more onto the wheels than the tow truck end where it's broken.
11:57Yeah, we're locked.
11:59Are you able to get through there or is the traffic held up?
12:01With the pressure of traffic building.
12:05All we can do is try our best.
12:08Because we only got one time to lift it.
12:12Al gambles on the trailer holding together.
12:16Like a house of cards.
12:18Be very ginger when you're making your moves.
12:27Whoa!
12:31What's going on?
12:33Two hours east.
12:35The semi roll over.
12:37Hang on!
12:39On Highway 3.
12:41What's the problem?
12:44Reliable's tipped semi.
12:46The door bungled in.
12:48Threatened to spill its load.
12:51And it started to open up more and then the whole door just...
12:54This load definitely needs to be unloaded.
12:57The trailer's just going to break apart.
13:00On a hairpin bend.
13:03The semi lost control.
13:07Smashing into the rock face.
13:10And flipping onto its side.
13:15I'll watch right here.
13:17Offloading the cargo now will take hours.
13:21Not getting through.
13:23But with the wreck still blocking the highway.
13:26I think I'm gonna keep going.
13:27Lane risks it all.
13:32You have to do what you have to do to get it open.
13:38Easy.
13:42Again?
13:44Okay.
13:46With the trailer off the road.
13:49We're good.
13:51It gives enough room that both lanes of traffic can actually continue.
13:56I think we ought to disconnect.
13:59And we'll go and focus on the truck now.
14:03Okay.
14:05This truck is broken in three places.
14:07So there's no real structural frame to grab.
14:11We'll grab from the rear axle.
14:12We'll grab from the spring hanger there.
14:14Absolutely. I like it.
14:15Okay.
14:18Okay.
14:20The plan is to get this tractor back on its wheels.
14:24Hooked up to a tow truck.
14:25Towed out of the way.
14:27Just need all this stuff out of these live lanes right now.
14:31I'll start feeding it through the holes on the rim.
14:33If you could just help me make a loop.
14:35Yeah.
14:38Just make sure that your hook isn't in the bite.
14:42Okay.
14:42That's when the sucker comes back over, right?
14:44Yeah.
14:50Okay.
14:51Okay.
14:51Here we go, boys.
15:02Keep going.
15:08There we went.
15:10Hell yeah, bro.
15:12Okay.
15:14Pretty exciting to see it land on its wheels.
15:18Good.
15:20Next thing we'll do, Josh, get you right up in here somewhere where we can just drag this thing off
15:27the road.
15:33With a quick re-rig.
15:35Good?
15:36Yeah.
15:37Okay.
15:40The tractor.
15:44You taking your truck for a walk?
15:46Yeah.
15:47Got a little leash on it?
15:49Is off the highway.
15:51Traffic control on three, tow trucks are off the road, copy that.
15:55Copy that, thank you.
15:57In 90 minutes.
15:59Keep going.
16:01He-haw!
16:03Highway three is moving again.
16:05Very impressed with everybody's work.
16:08But the job is only half done.
16:11That'll get unloaded in the morning during the daylight.
16:15I think is the safest.
16:18For now.
16:19We're pretty well good to go, I think.
16:21Hell yeah.
16:22Yeah!
16:23The newest reliable members call it a date.
16:26I love working with Kalen and Lane.
16:29Fearless leader.
16:30Let's go.
16:31Good work, man.
16:33Good work.
16:34Really good.
16:35Proud to be on this team.
16:38It was always exciting for me when we bring on a whole new group of people.
16:44The recovery is done for the night.
16:47Right on, thanks guys.
16:52This is nice.
16:54On highway one.
16:56Uh-oh.
16:58Al's fragile trailer.
17:01Thing is bugging.
17:03Has started to give way.
17:07Pick something up that's broken and you're gonna hear settling, crumpling, banging.
17:12Saving the 80,000 pound load.
17:16We'll fix that.
17:18Will require some roadside engineering.
17:23I'm just gonna chain the underneath with a truss.
17:28I'm hoping I can get it picked up.
17:32To reinforce the trailer, Al will use blocks to support the frame and a chain to secure it in place
17:42while he attempts to tow it down the road.
17:47Think in your mind what you need to do and use the equipment that you have available with you.
17:54Okay.
17:55Tighter up.
18:02There you go.
18:04Yeah, yeah, yeah.
18:07But the true test.
18:09Okay, here we go.
18:11We'll be transporting the fragile cargo.
18:15Come on, sweetheart.
18:1914 kilometers.
18:22Heave home.
18:24Back to the yard.
18:26My biggest concern is we're one big bump away from...
18:31...a mosaic anywhere.
18:35Can't really see it, but I've got a tight grip on my seat.
18:41Will just take your time?
18:43We're top dancing here.
18:44I'd rather just be a couple extra minutes, be cautious.
18:50As long as we don't hit a big bump, we should make it to the yard.
18:58Easy, easy, easy.
19:03After 25 long minutes.
19:05Right on.
19:06Happy landing.
19:07Al finally eases the trailer into home base.
19:16We always look forward to getting that load over the county line when we pull into the yard.
19:22Beauty.
19:23Every day is a challenge.
19:25That's what I enjoy.
19:27It's the diversity of the recovery business.
19:30We made it home for dinner.
19:33Oh, I've never seen it this pretty out here.
19:46The next day, back on Highway 3...
19:52...reliable towing's heavy metal is on the move.
19:56We're going up to a rolled over trailer.
19:59...with lead operator Andy Cullow.
20:03Lane and Josh had taken care of the tractor.
20:07I'm going to come up and take care of the trailer for them.
20:14Hours earlier...
20:15That one goes there.
20:17...50,000 pounds of apples...
20:20You're just building middle out.
20:22...were removed from the trailer.
20:25Beautiful, beautiful.
20:29Now...
20:32I see a trailer on that side, right on the side of the room.
20:36Andy gets his first look at the empty trailer.
20:43Let's try and have a look.
20:48Mmm, apple pie.
20:52Door is toast.
20:54The trailer's looking kind of rough.
20:56That's not going to be very nice.
21:01If you get it wrong...
21:02...the box could crumble and end up across the highway.
21:08Nobody told me it was this bad.
21:12The trailer on its side there.
21:15On Highway 3.
21:16The whole wall's messed up.
21:19Andy's in a solo face-off.
21:22Nasty.
21:22With a beaten up trailer.
21:25The back door got pretty ripped up.
21:27When we stand this up, it could fall apart.
21:32Being the flagship truck guy...
21:36...you're the person they call on to solve all their big issues.
21:40Working by myself.
21:42But when you're out alone...
21:45...you need to be on it.
21:50You holding?
21:52But to recover the trailer...
21:55Holding.
21:56...he'll need to shut down the highway.
22:07There's always a crunch on time.
22:11You don't want to block the highway any longer than needed.
22:16With a line to the top of the frame...
22:18...and a line to the rear axles...
22:23...and he starts the pull.
22:26Andy starts the pull.
22:26Andy starts the pull.
22:26No.
22:30Time to kill.
22:32Oh my God.
22:34No.
22:42No.
22:44Oh no.
22:44No.
22:45No.
22:46No.
22:47No.
22:48No.
22:59Look at that.
23:02Wasn't too bad.
23:05Roll went good, nice and quick.
23:07Fun times.
23:10In less than 10 minutes...
23:13You can let him go both ways.
23:16The highway is reopened.
23:18Yeah, thank you.
23:22They opened it up.
23:25We're gonna hook to the front of the trailer
23:26and get it off the highway.
23:28Perfect.
23:32Nice.
23:33Nothing to it.
23:36Looks not too bad.
23:38We're strapping the door
23:39because the door frame
23:41is not so much a frame anymore.
23:48The two-day recovery...
23:54...is finally done.
23:57It's not just one person or two people.
24:00It's our whole team work together.
24:02I'm really proud of the people that we have.
24:06Everybody's starting to help out in the business.
24:09It's good to see you.
24:11They cleared up that wreck.
24:13Let's go home now.
24:30Watch the snow.
24:33580 kilometres northeast...
24:36Winter conditions.
24:37...in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains...
24:41We've got to go trail, man.
24:43...a lone 4x4 wrecker...
24:47It's quite a ways up there.
24:49...and Jamie Davis...
24:52...are in search of a wreck.
24:55It's deep, the snow.
24:58The off-road jobs can be quite interesting.
25:01You don't know what's gonna happen.
25:05Ten kilometres into the bush...
25:08...Jaime arrives to a luxury motorhome...
25:12...teetering on the edge.
25:14It's kind of straddled a ditch on the right side...
25:16...so it's got to lean to it.
25:18Hello.
25:19The vehicle's owners...
25:20...are tourists visiting from Europe.
25:24I come slowly...
25:26...and don't see the eyes...
25:28...then from one second to the other second...
25:31...it's go right.
25:32And then it's finished.
25:35You'll get people from out of town...
25:37...or travellers that will go on the back roads...
25:39...and that will become really treacherous for them.
25:43This one.
25:45He's done a good job of making sure...
25:48...his camper van doesn't flip over.
25:50But while the owner's makeshift rigging impresses Jamie...
25:55...I think we could take this off.
25:57I'm afraid.
25:58He falls.
25:58You're afraid that it's gonna fall?
25:59I'm afraid.
26:03Yeah, I think we have to undo if we can.
26:05It's time for the professional to go to work.
26:09You just need the right tool for the job.
26:11Okay.
26:12Thanks.
26:13I'll hold that.
26:14Okay.
26:18I'm in a plough by a little bit...
26:21...and then I'll back up.
26:22Okay.
26:23Okay.
26:24They've shipped this unit from Switzerland.
26:26It's their prized possession.
26:28So it's really important to pull this unit out and let them carry on the trip.
26:34Now in position, Jamie can start hooking up.
26:38We're gonna pull on two points so that we're steering it back on the road...
26:41...and bringing it out at the same time.
26:43But rigging to the $200,000 camper...
26:47It's plastic.
26:48...is a delicate operation.
26:51Yeah, it's not good.
26:53They're made to look pretty.
26:55They don't have heavy rigging or pull points.
26:59Jamie rigs a round sling to the rear axle.
27:03If you don't do the right things, you could have more damage.
27:06Just around like this one.
27:08But for the second pull point...
27:10I'm gonna put the block in there.
27:12Jamie turns to his surroundings.
27:15We'll put this in there.
27:17Yeah.
27:19We've got some really good trees.
27:20We can redirect the angle of our pull using snatch blocks.
27:24Okay.
27:25Locked on.
27:26Chain's good.
27:27Yeah.
27:28Okay.
27:30The toe pin, a little bit weak, but we will try.
27:33Weighing over 8,000 pounds...
27:37Jamie gambles on his rig point.
27:40Hopefully it doesn't break.
27:41A lot of weight in this unit.
27:43I'm a little bit nervous on the front toe pin being strong enough.
27:48They're not meant for pulling on sideways.
27:55Okay.
27:58Pulled it?
27:58Yeah.
28:00He's steering the unit in the right direction.
28:05Okay.
28:06So that we can bring that front end over.
28:21Yeah, we have to be careful a little bit.
28:26Pull.
28:27The trees start to realize the weight that's on it.
28:32I'm a little nervous.
28:35I don't want the tree coming down.
28:40The driver's wife...
28:45...spots a problem.
28:46Yeah, I see.
28:47I see.
28:49The back end's going over.
28:50Oh, oh.
28:53Oh, oh.
28:55On a back country road.
28:59I won't do any more on that one.
29:02A high-end camper...
29:04So we'll stop.
29:06...threatens to topple over.
29:10We better stop before we do end up flipping this thing over.
29:14It's coming up here.
29:15I don't like that.
29:16We need to get a different tree.
29:18The angle that we're pulling on is lifting the back end of the van up and wanting to tip it
29:23over.
29:25In there?
29:26Yeah, we got to go to that tree.
29:30We've got to re-rig it so that the angle that we're pulling on is going to pull down, not
29:34up.
29:37Satisfied with a new pull angle...
29:39Just hold on the brakes for a minute.
29:42Okay.
29:44Jamie and the driver restart the pull.
29:48Okay.
29:48I'll pull them up.
29:55Let them in neutral now.
29:57Yeah.
29:58Okay.
29:59Oh, that's tippy, eh?
30:07A little bit more.
30:17What do you think?
30:18Are we on the road?
30:20After a quick inspection...
30:23Yeah, it's on the road.
30:25...the luxury camper is out of the ditch.
30:28It really makes me feel good to give them a hand without any damage.
30:34The customer's doing all the hard work.
30:36But before they leave...
30:38Yeah, yeah.
30:39They get on as a swamper.
30:40Awesome.
30:41Okay.
30:43The owner chips in one last time.
30:47You know, he's hands-on.
30:48Perfect.
30:49Now we go back to Halifax.
30:50With more than 5,000 kilometers to go...
30:55For now shipping to Hamburg.
30:58The couple can continue on their journey.
31:01No, it's okay.
31:02It's good.
31:03I really enjoy the off-road, backwoods kind of recovery jobs.
31:08Jamie goes the extra mile.
31:11Just do your work, get it done, and it's all good.
31:16Plowing the road on his way out...
31:19I'm happy.
31:24Beautiful sky.
31:26600 kilometers southwest...
31:29Yeah, you know it.
31:30...in the Fraser Valley...
31:32Highway 1 looks great today.
31:35A 50-ton rotator heads to an early evening call...
31:40We're on our way.
31:41...with aggressive towing's Chris Mervin.
31:45We're going to head into Chilliwack today.
31:48A customer that fortunately has his truck in the ditch.
31:53When you enjoy your job, you don't really work a day in your life.
31:57I just passed a rotator.
31:59Four or five years ago, it was me getting all those calls.
32:02As I stepped back, Merv stepped up.
32:06Hot on his heels, in a 50-ton record...
32:10Accidents happen every day.
32:13...Junior heavy operator, Jaden Dick.
32:16I'm running Merv's old 50-ton now.
32:20Definitely a lot of pressure.
32:21There's a lot more that could go wrong.
32:2520 minutes ahead.
32:31The wreck...
32:32He's going to need it total.
32:34...is deep in the ditch.
32:36This roadway is actually a busy thoroughfare...
32:40...to get to the upper side of Chilliwack.
32:46...as daylight fades...
32:48...that plane, they're pretty good.
32:51...team aggressive arrives on scene.
33:02A lot of real estate.
33:04Yeah, tons of fun.
33:06It's a very narrow roadway we're dealing with.
33:09Not going to have much outrigger out either.
33:11No.
33:12Overall, not much room to play with.
33:15But this wreck...
33:17We're looking at...
33:18...the roll-off truck in the ditch.
33:21...is no ordinary dump truck.
33:24The roll-off truck, they can actually roll the bin on and off.
33:27This is going to be a big problem.
33:29It definitely is a specialized vehicle.
33:32Hopefully they'll hold up.
33:34It's not something that you can really yank on or pull on too hard.
33:38The unit...
33:40...the worst part is eventually it's just going to be a sharp drop-off and a sploosh.
33:45...is sitting in a foot of water.
33:48It's a very deep ditch.
33:49It has definitely got water flowing in the bottom of it.
33:53Holy...
33:53Man, it's like, all good, all good, all good, all bad.
33:57Anyone know what's going on?
34:00In the Fraser Valley...
34:07...on a narrow stretch of road...
34:09Is she empty or loaded?
34:11Merv and Jaden...
34:13Empty.
34:14...face a specialized roll-off truck...
34:18...stuck in a waterway.
34:20It's fully in the ditch on its side, pretty much.
34:24Hold on, big rig.
34:26Good enough.
34:28I don't think your boots are going to help you in that.
34:30Yeah, no.
34:32I'm not a huge fan of water.
34:33I don't really like swimming or being wet.
34:36Okay, so this cable goes to this rail.
34:39Working in tight quarters...
34:42...that way when I swing my boom it comes out proper, yeah.
34:45Merv takes full advantage of his rotating boom.
34:50We're looking to keep a lane of traffic open at least.
34:55And the rotator just makes it easy to achieve that.
35:00Hey, come hold the snatch block, I'll pop the ring up.
35:04Yep.
35:08With the 50-ton pulling the front...
35:11...and the rotator lifting the back...
35:14...they'll coax the truck out of the ditch.
35:21Try one, we'll see if we can start making that come up.
35:24We got that shackled siloed pretty good.
35:27With 16,000 pounds on the line...
35:33Watch your head, it may go flying.
35:35Okay.
35:37All eyes are on their rigging.
35:40Fighting the bank on the way up adds a lot of extra strain to the wrench cables.
35:46Keep going.
35:48But as they winch against the bank...
35:56...the wreck...
35:59...threatens to tip.
36:01Okay, hold on.
36:03I do not want to make the phone call to say it rolled over.
36:10Want that second line on or...?
36:12I think what I want to do is put a grey strap on it and come around the backside of
36:15the bin.
36:17We're going to wrap a strap around it just to give it a little more support.
36:20We'll chuck that up and over.
36:22This truck's probably worth, you know, $150,000.
36:25I can't see the other side.
36:27We want to make sure this thing comes up on its wheels and stays on its wheels the whole time.
36:33But rigging to the other side...
36:35Ah, I'm the wreck monster.
36:37...means someone has to brave the water-filled ditch.
36:42Still getting wet.
36:44Oh, that's cold.
36:45Yeah, mm-hmm.
36:47Being the junior guy on scene, I've got to get down in dirt when I have to.
36:52That's really freaking cold water.
36:54Oh, my.
36:57Yeah, it's not going to be warm water.
36:59Man.
37:00Cold water builds character.
37:01I have more than enough character, I don't need to be in that cold water.
37:08Okay, send her to the moon.
37:09Ready?
37:10Yeah.
37:11They don't call them swampers for nothing.
37:14Back to work.
37:16With the extra line now in place...
37:19Pull a little bit here.
37:21Pull a little bit?
37:21Yep.
37:24...they begin round two.
37:31Keep going.
37:33But as the roll-off truck...
37:36Yep, keep going.
37:37...makes its way up the bay.
37:42It's plowing a lot because we're bringing it up a very steep angle.
37:45That's all bound up.
37:48We're definitely adding resistance.
37:55Hey.
37:57Pulling.
37:59Hold on.
37:59Hold on, hold on.
38:02What's happening?
38:03On a narrow roadway...
38:06We're in clear.
38:07Pulling a truck out to the ditch.
38:10A 16,000-pound truck...
38:13Hold on, hold on.
38:14...has Team Aggressive...
38:17bogged down.
38:19I can make my end come up, no problem.
38:21But yours is a fight right now.
38:23Just with the way we're pulling, it wants to pull the nose through the bank.
38:27To encourage the wreck to roll forward instead of sideways...
38:32Pull forward five more feet.
38:36Jayden...
38:39...repositions his 50-ton.
38:44Try rolling her up and out now.
38:47We need to get it on such of an angle where the tire starts riding up the dirt.
38:51Tell me when.
38:52Yeah.
39:06Pulling a little bit more.
39:14Pull her up a little bit here.
39:19That's the first wheel.
39:20Yeah, keep going like that.
39:23Claws its way onto pavement.
39:25Almost there, buddy.
39:28Hold it.
39:30What we should do, switch that to the other side now that we're up here.
39:34A final re-rig.
39:37Okay.
39:38Give her.
39:40And Jayden...
39:44Pulls the second wheel.
39:47We're on the money.
39:49Back up onto firm ground.
39:51Okay, Nicky Bird. Head out of there.
39:53Leaving the rest to Merv and his rotator.
40:02There we go.
40:04Watch Merv do something like this, it's pretty interesting.
40:08Probably pretty close to your truck, so let's go take a look at that.
40:14It can be a difficult maneuver, picking one end of the truck and swinging it between two.
40:20Hell yeah, brother!
40:22Hey, she's ready to load.
40:23Almost. It's like, almost.
40:25The customer will probably be pretty happy that it stayed in one piece.
40:31I always enjoy working with Merv.
40:34Everything went smoothly and the truck's out of the ditch.
40:38Good job, homie.
40:40See you back in the yard.
40:42Jayden went swimming, he did awesome.
40:47Definitely nice.
40:48One day maybe having my own swamper.
40:52They got it all cleaned up.
40:55Gotta see, those guys do a pretty good job, eh?
40:58That's for sure.
41:09Days later.
41:11Let's go in there, bud.
41:12I'm just taking her easy, man.
41:15At Aggressive Tawings Headquarters.
41:19You still got four hydraulic lines that gotta be undone and fed through.
41:24Merv.
41:25Just checking to make sure I've got everything.
41:27And Jayden.
41:29Make sure the aggressive fleet is ready to launch at a moment's notice.
41:40Critical that we, we're not down a bunch of trucks.
41:44Past few years for sure, work-life balance has changed.
41:49Hi.
41:50How are you?
41:52Aggressive boss Jason Davis
41:57has been stepping back from the gritty part of the family business.
42:04Merv's now the forefront person that goes out.
42:06Just checking everything.
42:08And you know, the Jaydens are coming up in the world.
42:14The time that I missed spending with my kids growing up,
42:17I might spend that time with my grandkids for sure.
42:24Heads up!
42:25It's nice to know that your team is ready to go anytime.
42:30Yeah!
42:31You can rely on the do-whatever.
42:33Awesome!
42:35Yeah, it's perfect, it's great.
42:38Lunch break!
42:42Next time, on Highway Through Hell...
42:45Something burning?
42:48Indeed.
42:49Careful, careful.
42:50Merv.
42:51Test the waters.
42:56Crush.
42:57Truck destroyed.
42:58On the coke.
42:59It's friggin' frig...
43:01With Team Reliable.
43:03Wow.
43:04And Moving Dave.
43:06Sounds really good.
43:07For Jamie's precious.
43:09There? That's it!
43:27足.
43:27Never mind...
43:30Yep, come!
43:37Actually...
43:37Hey look, man.
43:39That's it, Denise?
43:40You
