00:03A piano society in Sunderland is searching for a new home for a rare century-old instrument,
00:09as its current venue prepares to close. The Sunderland Piano Forte Society keeps its Model
00:14D Steinway at the Museum and Winter Gardens, which is due to shut for a major redevelopment
00:19later this year. The group says the piano is extremely valuable and difficult to relocate
00:24because of its size, sound and specialist requirements. It is believed to be one of
00:28only six in the world made in that style. Society members hope to return the instrument once
00:33works complete, but say they may need to move elsewhere in the meantime. Recitals are expected
00:39to continue at the Museum until the end of October.
