00:00Absolute Batman may very well be the best Dark Knight story in decades.
00:04I'm going to label with you here.
00:05When I first heard about this series, I wasn't convinced.
00:08You see, I got a fundamental problem with DC's obsession of making Batman poor.
00:12In the real world, we know, billionaires suck, they're the worst kind of people out there.
00:16But in the comics, it's fantasy, it's an opportunity to explore what would happen
00:20if someone with great wealth didn't actually do great things for everyone else around them.
00:24But, I must say, this series has actually won me over.
00:26But, in this alternate universe, Bruce Wayne doesn't lose both his parents.
00:30It's only his father who dies, so it's his mother who raises him.
00:32Yet, he doesn't have the wealth that he did before.
00:35So, he needs to kind of build himself from the ground up.
00:38Now, we've seen all the memes of how hulking big he is,
00:40and, you know, the ridiculous gadgets he has, and the size of the suit.
00:44But, it actually all works here.
00:45And, what the creative team has actually done is they've twisted the story around a little bit.
00:49In this universe, for example, he's friends with the Penguin, and the Riddler, and Killer Croc from childhood.
00:54Where somebody like the Joker is actually a rich industrialist.
00:57But, what he turns into is super terrifying.
01:00So, the creative team has done a really good job of taking what we know about the character,
01:04and turning it on its head, and exploring it from a different angle.
01:07So, yeah.
01:08Absolute Batman.
01:09I've got to give that two thumbs up.
