00:07With all the investments coming into Johor, it is understandable for certain parties to
00:15be a bit concerned on whether Johor's economy is overheating. But today, Wei Wei, I want
00:25to give you assurance. I want to give everyone here assurance that things are under control
00:34and it is manageable. So, you mentioned energy, water and talent, yeah? So, when it comes
00:46to energy, Wei Wei, in terms of demand, currently there is about 1,400 mega volts that is in
00:59demand, right? I'm looking at Datu Asni because he looks and helps look after energy for Johor.
01:06He does a lot of things for Johor, by the way. So, but in terms of supply, we still have
01:16about 1,900 mega volts. So, in terms of utilization, it's just at about 72%. So, clearly, in terms
01:28of energy, we're not overstretched. At the same time, Wei Wei, when it comes to renewables,
01:35renewable energy, our PDT, GLC, Pemodalan Darul Takzim, is Datuk Ramni here, by the way? PDT.
01:45So, they look at renewable energy. They are now planning to come up with a solar farm and I think
01:56they're looking at about 4 gigawatts of renewable energy. So, that is a huge amount of energy when
02:03it comes to renewables, not just to cater for domestic demands but also, I think, enough to
02:11supply to our neighbours in Singapore. So, I think in terms of energy, rest assured, I think
02:18things are manageable and it's not overstretching it. When it comes to water, Wei Wei, people are
02:30very worried about data centres. And we've been also very careful when it comes to water. We don't
02:37want to overstretch. In terms of demand, I was informed by my ex-co that we are looking at 1
02:46,200
02:47MLD. But in terms of supply, we have about 1,500 MLD. So, there is a margin of reserve of
03:00approximately
03:0016%. But depending on location, that figure can vary. So, we are taking measures and steps
03:09to ensure that there is enough water supply in Johor, especially around the JSSEZ area.
03:19I am pleased to inform everyone here today that, so far, we have gotten approval from PETRA, the agency
03:30or ministry that looks after water for the state. They've approved nine projects when it comes to water
03:39catchment and also when it comes to the facilities to treat the water. And when all these nine projects
03:51complete, it will give about 1,100 MLD of water supply to the JSSEZ. So, it is a challenge and
04:05we are ensuring
04:07that we have enough water. At the same time, we are also looking at alternatives. So, that is through JSW,
04:16Johor
04:17Special Water, whereby we look at using sewerage water. So, we are in collaboration with IWK, Weiwei. So, they
04:28treat the sewerage water and then they transfer it to the data centres to be used. Because, you know, the
04:36water
04:36required by data centres in terms of quality is not the same as consumers at home.
04:45At the same time, I think one data centre, I can't remember.
04:51They are actually taking water from Sungai Tebrau and actually processing it to be used in data centres.
04:59So, these are measures that are taken. On top of that, we have a committee that is co-checked
05:08by three ex-cos. And in that committee, we've got all the relevant agencies to approve whether
05:17a data centre can be approved in terms of operations in Johor. So, we are taking many steps and measures.
05:25Firstly, to ensure that there is enough water supply. And then, we are taking the measures
05:31in terms of controlling what type of data centres that come into Johor. So, usually, it's tier
05:37three, tier four data centres that are allowed to come into Johor. And usually, at that level,
05:43they will focus on air cooling systems. So, they will actually use higher technology to run
05:53the operations of those data centres. So, we've cleared electricity, we've cleared water.
05:59Talent.
06:00Now, in regards to talent. Can I just have a sip of water?
06:05Of course, please.
06:07She's pressuring me.
06:09But it's good. So far, I want to say Datok, you've shared a lot of new insights.
06:14I appreciate your candor here. Thank you. Come.
06:18When it comes to talent, we've created the Johor Talent Development Council.
06:27And again, just like IMFCJ, we are getting all the federal agencies and state agencies
06:37to meet the demands of the investors coming into Johor.
06:44And at the government level, obviously, we've got Johor skills.
06:52We've got the Exco involved to spearhead this initiative.
06:57But at the institution level, we're getting all the local universities to come on board.
07:07So, we've got UTM, we've got UITM, we've got UTHM, and we've got KYPJ as well.
07:17We're also working with schools. We're working with all the other institutions
07:23so that there is a steady flow when it comes to supplying the talent.
07:30So, the function of JTTC is to create a job matching.
07:37We upskill and reskill the people to meet the demands of industries coming into Johor.
07:45But I guess this is where you also need that partnership with the private sector.
07:49I mean, earlier on today, you were sharing some of your investors are sending local employees over to home country
07:57for training.
07:59I think, Dato, this probably, I guess, this is a tough one.
08:02Actually, I pity the head of your JTTC.
08:05Because the demands are coming in so swiftly, it takes time to build talent.
08:10So, I think this is one space I presume will be high on your radar in one of your many
08:15excoves to chair.
08:16Yeah, it is definitely an interesting challenge, Weiwei.
08:26We've received feedback, you know, some of the companies from Shanghai that are here today.
08:34We are giving that initial leeway for companies that are coming to Johor, especially in the high-tech area,
08:44where they need their colleagues from China to come to Johor.
08:49But we're giving a certain timeframe so that they train up our locals.
08:55So, that is actually happening as we speak.
09:00Now, at the same time, while we re-skill and up-skill, again, we also have that collaboration with the
09:09companies coming into Johor.
09:11We are also encouraging them to offer a slightly higher salary, what we call a premium salary.
09:24And we've been successful in that venture as well.
09:30Take, for example, Ecoceres. I don't know whether Ecoceres is here today.
09:36They recycle used oil and transform it into jet fuel.
09:43So, they've got a big plant here in Johor.
09:46And most of their employees are Johorians.
09:50And they've managed to offer a premium salary.
09:55So, a lot of Johorians and Malaysians who initially worked abroad are now coming back to Johor
10:04because of that slight increase in terms of salary.
10:09So, you know, it is a challenge, but it is something that we can resolve together.
10:15And I think in JTDC, we are taking steps to ensure that it will be a matter of past.
10:25But I do need to introduce you to two very important people that are spearheading the JTDC.
10:32I hope they are not out for lunch.
10:34So, first and foremost is Mr. Fahmi and also Mr. Helmi.
10:40So, these two gentlemen, if you have any matters in regards to talent, development and human capital matters,
10:50these are the two people for you to meet.
