00:00Fresh off of Coachella, straight to Billboard, Latin.
00:04Oh my gosh, from the desert.
00:07Becky G, cuéntanos, how epic was that Mami reunion?
00:11It's always epic cuando las G se juntan, that's all I'm going to say.
00:36For sure, full circle, yes.
00:39Esta noche estás recibiendo Global Impact Award.
00:43When was the first time that you knew you were making an impact with your art?
00:48You know, I feel like it's like, it's twofold.
00:52It's like, there's a part of you as an artist today, especially with the internet.
00:55You know everything you do can somehow impact someone or inspire someone or whatever.
01:01But I also feel like there's the other side, which is like, you're so in it.
01:05And it's important for you to be in it and so present in your own journey
01:08that you don't really realize it until it's happening.
01:11Entonces, cuando recibí la noticia that I was getting the Global Impact Award,
01:15I was like, what does that even mean for me today?
01:18Because you could also think, I don't know, I was like, is it, you know,
01:22I just went to Korea for the first time.
01:23Ay, how lucky.
01:24And I was thinking about how, like, hasta en España, like, you know,
01:29the reporters are like, Becky G de Inglewood.
01:32Yes.
01:33And I'm just like, how cool is it?
01:34Like, the little me that grew up in Inglewood, you know, proud to be Chicana,
01:38would have never imagined to go to all these places and then them know where I'm from.
01:42You know, it's just really cool.
01:43It's really special.
01:44Hablando de ese viaje a Corea, your new single marathon con Elkan,
01:49I'm curious because I was listening to it.
01:51It's a new sound.
01:52And I was like, is this electronic?
01:54Is this pop?
01:54It sounds K-pop-ish a little bit.
01:56It's like a fusion of, you know, I don't, I like to stay away from the word, like, era
02:02because I feel like, for me, it really just has been like an evolution.
02:06And this is like an expansion of my artistry.
02:09Después de Esquinas en Encuentros, my música mexicana albums,
02:12like, so much healing took place in that journey that getting to make new music
02:17and kind of returning to my other raíces, which is, me empecé como rapera, you know,
02:23like, going back to, like, the rap stuff and the pop stuff.
02:26It felt so different but so at home at the same time.
02:30So, marathons just a little taste of what's to come, yeah.
02:35A mí me encanta porque siento que te hemos visto crecer.
02:38No, no, no.
02:40¿Cierto o no es cierto?
02:42A baby casi.
02:43Yeah, yeah, no, es cierto.
02:44It's very true.
02:45¿Cómo estás ahora?
02:46¿Cómo te sientes?
02:47¿Cómo está esta Becky de 20 a 26?
02:50Me siento súper feliz con, no sé, con ganas, con mucha, no sé,
02:58querer de continuar explorando y descubriendo.
03:02I feel very playful these days.
03:05Y no has sentido eso en muchos años, you know?
03:07Yeah, so it's really nice.
03:08Cuéntanos un poco de ese homenaje que le vamos a hacer hoy a Selena Quintanilla.
03:13I mean, let me just make it clear that to receive the Global Impact Award is a very big deal
03:18and I know that I could technically use this opportunity to perform new music because it's
03:22coming very soon, but I wanted to do a performance that is inspired by the award itself.
03:27And I feel like Global Impact is not done alone, it's done in community and I wouldn't have been able
03:32to do it
03:33without the incredible women before me and Selena is one of them and she's inspired me so much
03:38as a Chicana, as somebody who sings in two languages.
03:42I really needed that, so it's an honor of her and also to the other 200%ers that we can
03:48hopefully continue to inspire.
03:50Thank you, Becky G, our cover girl.
03:54Thank you so much.
03:56I loved the cover, it was so cool, I didn't know what it was going to be.
03:58Peace out.
03:59Bye.
03:59Bye.
