Green Party leader Zack Polanski says that St George's Day is an opportunity to recognise English values of inclusivity and compassion, arguing that "there needs to be a reset in this conversation from the toxicity that's been offered by Nigel Farage, but so often parroted by the Labour government that's actually about anti migrants". 00:00The Prime Minister is speaking about English values today for St George's Day.
00:03What do English values mean to you?
00:05I think values of this country are about compassion, are about care, are about being inclusive
00:10and loving towards your neighbour and towards strangers.
00:12And I really hope that there's a reset in this conversation from the toxicity that's
00:16been offered by Nigel Farage, that's so often parroted by the Labour government, that's
00:21actually about anti-migrants and so often is a really scary and hostile environment,
00:25particularly for people of colour in this country.
00:27And actually for me that's the opposite of British or English values.
00:30English values actually, we have a long history and tradition of this country, of being inclusive,
00:36of being caring and actually I think migration is one of the things that makes this country
00:40great.
00:40I hope on St George's Day we'll recognise that.
