00:02Proceedings at the Salangor State Assembly were briefly disrupted today when an opposition
00:07assemblyman attempted to table a motion to refer Sirikambangan Assemblyman Wong Suu Kyi of Pakatan
00:13Harapan to the Rights and Privileges Committee over the matter of pig farming in the state.
00:18Taman Medan Assemblyman Dr. Afif Bahardin said he submitted the motion to the Assembly
00:23Secretary earlier this morning and urged Speaker Lao Weng San to review the matter.
00:28However, Lao said he had yet to receive or examine the motion and was therefore unable to make an
00:35immediate ruling. He also said that Afif could not invoke the standing orders to seize an opportunity
00:42for debate before the motion had been formally reviewed. Tensions escalated when several opposition
00:48assemblymen, including Gombak Setia Assemblyman Hilman Idham and opposition leader Azmin Ali,
00:53repeatedly rose to interject, prompting the Speaker to order them to sit down and
00:58refrain from disrupting proceedings. He also gave Afif a warning after the opposition assemblyman
01:04continued pressing for clarification on the motion's status. Yesterday, Wong, while debating
01:09the Sultan's address, said the issue of pig farming touched on the right to equality under Article 8,
01:14Subjection 2 of the Federal Constitution. Natasha Abused, FMT.
