09:25¡Gracias!
09:43Obviously, we saw the pictures from the fans in the grandstands putting the umbrellas up.
09:48It's been described by a couple of team managers as a day to stay alert throughout the day.
09:54Certainly, as we go racing later on, both of the bikes, one will be wet, one will be dry.
09:59Everybody will be doing a flag-to-flag practice at the end of the day.
10:03You just feel it's one of those where quick reactions, quick thinking could be the decider between a big result
10:10and a poor result.
10:11It's going to be a day where, as we often like, those that risk a lot could pick up big
10:17rewards.
10:18Yeah, thanks very much, Jackie.
10:20We're going to be getting sore next looking at the skies, aren't we, throughout the proceedings.
10:24Are we going to be in for another flag-to-flag scenario?
10:27John Zarco won't be too bothered, if that's the case, after all of the drama we saw in front of
10:31his home crowd at the Le Mans circuit.
10:33Mark Marquez, yesterday, by his own admission, says he might have to reel himself in a little bit this afternoon
10:40because he said, yeah, it was fantastic to win that 10 sprint, but he took a lot of risk to
10:45do it.
10:46At times, I think he was talking to himself in his home with that little devil on his left shoulder
10:50saying,
10:50what are you doing? You're leading the world champs, you're like, Mark, what are you taking all these risks for?
10:53But he's trying to fight his natural killer instinct, isn't he, to just go for the jugular.
10:59And that's natural killer instinct, which has made him such a phenomenal rider of the years.
11:03That's why he's had over a century of poor positions across all classes.
11:06That is why he's won 68 MotoGP races now, chasing a 69th today that would take a clear in second
11:13place all time.
11:14One ahead of Giacomo Agostini and just 20 behind the great Valentino Rossi.
11:19This is 200th MotoGP start today, Mark Marquez, and he's looking to celebrate it in the grand manner.
11:24He was thinking of a championship at a stage of the sprint, but as he pointed out, once he got
11:29down to the final lap,
11:31once you're in a final lap, head-to-head for the victory, no thought at all about the world championship.
11:37Here he is then, at the moment, on course to maybe top this pre-race warm-up session.
11:44Lane all shine, he's beaten in the mix. It's been spectacular to watch at times.
11:47There's been a few big scares throughout the weekend for Mark in both dry and wet conditions
11:53when he passed Fabio Quattararo yesterday to take second in that sprint.
11:57He almost lost the rear, dropping down through turn two.
12:00He got tight late on with Marco Betsechi.
12:04Let's not rule out Bez from being a serious contender if it is wet this afternoon, of course.
12:10He's first.
12:11Probably a front-row start delivered yesterday in Q2.
12:15Bez's first ever mother G2 victory, of course, was in the wet
12:18for VR46 Ducati in Argentina a couple of years ago.
12:23So a very, very strong wet-weather rider is best, Eki.
12:26Perhaps the big surprise of the sprint yesterday, given the conditions,
12:28was Fabio Quattararo taking third place for the factory Yamaha squad.
12:32Just his second sprint podium, and suffice to say, it's his first sprint podium in the wet.
12:37It says that ultimately, when it comes to Yamaha in wet conditions,
12:40it's all down to the level of grip being put out from the circuit.
12:43Some circuits are much grippier in wet conditions than others.
12:47You might recall Quattararo finishing on the podium in Mandelica in the wet a couple of years ago
12:50when it was especially grippy in wet conditions.
12:54And there was quite a lot of water on the racetrack too,
12:55which helped Quattararo, who qualified in seventh place,
12:58but produced certainly one of the best first laps,
13:01our first three corners we've seen for quite some time.
13:03Well worth a look.
13:04If you go to MotoGP's social media challenge, you can ride on board with Fabio Quattararo
13:07through the first three corners.
13:10He went around the outside of Alex Marquez,
13:11and then around the outside of the recovering Marc Marquez
13:14in consecutive corners, and completed that first lap in third place.
13:18Just the second sprint podium in 50, of course.
13:20It was right here in the Saxon ring three years ago.
13:24The Quattararo was last victorious on a Grand Prix Sunday.
13:28Far, far too long of a barren run for a rider of this pure and undoubted class.
13:35Marquez, smart that is, has taken control of this warm session,
13:38just as we thought he would do.
13:40Pedro Acosta comes through turn eight this time around.
13:43On the black stuff, because yesterday he was running pretty strongly
13:46in that podium battle in the sprint yesterday,
13:50when he had a real big scare as well, washing the front out.
13:52I think a couple of riders were reporting there was a puddle on the inside of turn eight.
13:56It was, you were on a tightrope in that turn eight,
13:59because if you were too close to the inside, there was a puddle to negotiate.
14:03Of course, if you're on the outside, the white line was really, really precarious.
14:06We saw a few riders caught out in the rain conditions.
14:09And Acosta went off-roading and did a great job on the RC60.
14:14He recovered, actually, to score the last point in yesterday's sprint.
14:18Acosta was ninth after Brad Binder led the KTM charge yesterday.
14:23A very rare visit into the top six on Saturday afterdoons for the South African.
14:28In fact, it was his best sprint finish in 18 since Emilia-Romagna last year.
14:32One place behind Jack Miller, who also shone in that wet sprint.
14:36The Aussie, his best sprint in 20 since the road ball ring last year.
14:40And of course, with the depleted field we have now,
14:42just 18 riders we start at the South News German Grand Prix.
14:45It has led to a bit of a reshuffle of the grid.
14:48Front row is the only row on the grid that remains unchanged.
14:51Marquez, Arco, Betzechi.
14:53But Acosta, Alex Marquez and Quattararo is now your second row play.
14:56Jijan Antonio is promoted up to seven.
14:59They have Miller and Brad Binder, who is now on road three.
15:02And Pekka Banyaya, who, of course, qualified down in 11th place,
15:06does get promoted up into 10th on the grid for this afternoon's German Grand Prix.
15:12He needs every position he can get at the moment.
15:15Quattararo, then, is the first rider in this formal session to take out the chequered flag.
15:20Best he can hope for, then, is fifth place with a 129.723.
15:24What a ride it was by Quattararo.
15:26Yesterday, somehow holding off the Giantonio.
15:30Zarko goes off-roading himself.
15:32He was on a real hot lap, actually,
15:34a potential warm-up session topping time there for Zarko.
15:38Not on the outside of the inside of turn 11, wasn't it?
15:42It is down at the pittal of the corner, isn't it?
15:44He's just down at the bottom of the hill.
15:45Zarko's gone all the way up into the gravel trap.
15:48So, presumably lost it on that downhill descent,
15:50the braking zone into the pittal of the corner.
15:52Another final two corners, two of ten on this circuit, but turn left.
15:57Dramir, then, on the back trip, Honda.
16:01Nothing really going for HRC yesterday with Mir down in 14th place,
16:04looking really 16th, and, of course,
16:06Joan Zarko is slipping out of podium contention very, very early on.
16:10Well, unfortunately, of course,
16:12the R46 Ducati down to one rider after Fanky Mordelli's
16:15really horrendous, scary get-off at turn 8 in the sprint.
16:18And, yes, they are punctual speed and recovery for Fanky.
16:21Fabio with the Giantonio, then they're low warrior this afternoon.
16:24Let's get the thoughts of the boss, Pablo Nieto.
16:26Who's with Jack?
16:26Yeah, absolutely.
16:27As you say, it was a scary one for Fanky yesterday.
16:30Not racing today, Pablo.
16:31Just bring us up to speed exactly with how he is this morning.
16:35Yeah, unfortunately, he cannot race.
16:38It was very big for us, and we were a little bit scary about the situation.
16:42But we make some tag and some resonant magnetic,
16:46and it looks like a little bit better.
16:48No colobon broken, nothing broken,
16:50but maybe some tendon, something like that,
16:52that we have to check tomorrow in Italy with our doctors,
16:55and then we will see.
16:56What did he say happened exactly?
16:58Because, obviously, that was a tricky part of the racetrack.
17:01Maybe did he touch the white line?
17:02Yeah, exactly.
17:03He told me when I was with him in the doctor,
17:05he told me that he made a mistake.
17:08He was a little bit more inside of the corner,
17:10but he touched the line white,
17:12so it was a small mistake that, in this case,
17:16you can make a big crash.
17:18It's the good news, nothing broken,
17:20but it's a quick turnaround to next weekend.
17:23And Bruno, you say he goes back to Italy tonight, is that right?
17:26And from there, what's the plan over the next couple of days?
17:29The plan is just going back home,
17:32trying to see the doctor tomorrow morning as soon as possible,
17:34and then after we see the doctor, we will decide it.
17:39We cannot say at the moment if we can race in Brno or not,
17:42because, first of all, the doctor have to say hi to everything,
17:45and then we will see.
17:46Thanks, Pablo.
17:47Thank you.
17:48Yeah, yeah, that's the best possible news.
17:50Thanks, Jack, and thanks to VR46, to Catibus, Pablo Nieto,
17:53because it was a horrendous crash at 4-1 with Delhi yesterday.
17:57You have to say he's been rather fortunate to escape any kind of serious injury,
18:01so the best possible news.
18:03And fingers crossed that Frankie is fit and able to compete next weekend in Brno
18:07because he was on the last Czech Republic podium five years ago.
18:13Sandwiched in between the race winner, Brad Binder and Zarco on that occasion.
18:17So he's set himself up.
18:20He's primed and ready then to attack for what would be a ninth Mudder GP victory here
18:26at his favourite Saxon ring.
18:28Mark Marquez leads the warm-up session with a 128.802.
18:32You're going to see every rider do a flag-to-flag practice bike swap, no question,
18:37because with the rather unpredictable weather forecasts around for this part of eastern Germany,
18:45well, who knows what the elements will be throwing at us by the time we're set for race action in
18:49Mudder GP.
18:502 p.m. local time here in Germany.
18:5330 laps, the best in the world will do battle.
18:56Of course, it's not particularly hot here.
18:57It's very un-Saxon ring for July, isn't it?
19:00For other chilly conditions, only in the mid-teens yesterday,
19:03which is exactly what we have at the moment.
19:05We were expecting the temperature to go up a little bit for our Grand Prix Sunday,
19:10but with this heavy cloud cover still over the circuit,
19:12track temperature also is still very, very cool.
19:15But, of course, they've had no dry running since Friday afternoon,
19:19since that practice session over 60 minutes,
19:21which Mark Marquez ended in third place,
19:23and he was already thinking about this particular scenario
19:26when he went back out at the end of the session on a used medium rear tire.
19:30He was recognising the fact that dry running was going to be limited,
19:33if not zero, on Saturday and needed to get all the homework done possible.
19:38So some riders potentially with a lack of information heading into today's Grand Prix.
19:53I think it was a thumbs-up there from Diego Gabellini, his crew chief,
19:57but Fabio doesn't seem particularly happy with the situation.
20:01It shouldn't be the session result, because he was up inside the top six towards Quattararo.
20:05Of course, we did see him yesterday rather cross when he completed FP2,
20:08because his rear ride height device was stuck on.
20:10Let's hope there's been no repeat of that.
20:12Yeah, and, of course, while we've been rather chilly and rather wet here this weekend in Germany,
20:15our World Superbike colleagues back home in the UK have been experiencing a heatwave.
20:18It's been 30 degrees at Donington Park, of course.
20:21It's a great day of two-wheel motorsport action coming your way, of course,
20:25with the Donington World Superbike, Superpole Rakes and Rakes 2 today.
20:29They're getting pretty interesting in their championship fight, isn't it,
20:32with top-ranked mascot, the Oglou, closing in now on Niccolo Bouliger.
20:36And, of course, we've got three great Grand Prixs coming up here in Germany to match as well.
20:41Now, Peko Banyaia got a little bit caught up with his Ducati
20:43when he tried his flag-to-flag practice earlier on in the weekend.
20:46That was much more slick and clean for Peko Banyaia,
20:49who, I guess, will be looking for all the chaos that we can potentially throw at this German Grand Prix
20:54later on.
20:55Might well bring him into play.
20:56He does want a clean, dry race, but you feel the more variables that we could potentially throw up,
21:01it might just change his fortunes.
21:03But so far, it has been a weekend to forget.
21:05Alex Marquez, for the first time in a sprint in 2025,
21:09we did not see Marquez at 1-2.
21:13No great surprise, given the fact that Alex came to this German Grand Prix
21:17a little bit patched up after his heavy crash with Pedro Acosta in Asuna a couple of weeks ago.
21:24The legacy of that aim, fractured index finger on his left hand for Alex.
21:28To be fair, he's had a pretty strong weekend,
21:32considering his sort of physical deficiencies here this weekend.
21:35He did pick up a couple of points in the sprint yesterday.
21:38As Marco Betsechi starts his little post-warm-up debrief.
21:45He was in ninth place, just a second off Marquez,
21:49who just looks, at the moment, rather invincible, rather unbeatable, doesn't he?
21:55And, of course, if it is a flag-to-flag scenario,
21:58Lamont aside, he tends to be so, so good.
22:01He was so good, that's what made him so strong at the end of the sprint yesterday,
22:04as the track did just start to dry out a little bit,
22:07and the rain has certainly eased off,
22:08and as the conditions were getting better and better,
22:11there's nobody faster and more adapting to changing conditions than the 93.
22:18So I don't think he's going to be too flustered if we are set for a flag-to-flag scenario
22:24this afternoon.
22:25Make it dry, make it wet, make it somewhere in the middle.
22:29Marco Marquez generally does very, very well, as seen around the Saksa Ring.
22:32He has won around here in all sorts of conditions, hasn't he?
22:34He has won in the dry so many times, but, of course, one of those many Saksa Ring wins.
22:38Of course, eight of them in MotoGP was in a flag-to-flag battle back in 2016.
22:43John Zarco, who once again was on that medium rear rain tyre,
22:48which certainly gave him mixed results yesterday in our Saturday programme,
22:52certainly worked out for him in qualifying,
22:54certainly did not favour him over the course of the 15-lap sprint.
22:58You can just see here, there, Zarco clipping that rear aero with his left boot
23:04as he hopped off the LCR Honda.
23:07So, yeah, the aero's great when you're out on circuit,
23:10maybe not so good when you're trying to do a flag-to-flag bike swap
23:14as you get your boot hooked into the aero.
23:16What was it that kicked him off of this, was it?
23:20I remember Manu Gonzalez did it when he was testing,
23:22but it has happened a couple of times through the course of the season.
23:26Of course, when you're trying to climb off those bikes,
23:27particularly when you're in such a rush during a flag-to-flag swap,
23:30you can't afford to give away a tenth of a second,
23:33never mind one or two seconds, trying to lift yourself off one bike onto the other.
23:37And, yeah, I guess when a rider is trying to get the change as quick as possible,
23:41the last thing from their mind is protecting that rear aero.
23:43You need some height, don't you? Aldeguer, Salvadori and Alex Marquez,
23:47they never seem to have too many issues.
23:49One of his now signature celebrations for Alex post-race
23:52is to leapfrog over his Grasini Ducati.
23:55That seems to have become his signature sign-off at the end of a positive Sunday.
24:00The Fermin Aldeguer fan club are looking to see what their rider can deliver here this afternoon.
24:08Aldeguer took the chequer flag in the sprint yesterday in tenth place.
24:12He was about 1.4 seconds behind Pedro Acosta, the two young, hot prospects,
24:18the two Spaniards toughed it out again, didn't they,
24:22for a good two or three laps towards the tail end of that sprint yesterday.
24:26But he's P1 on the grid, P1 in the sprint yesterday and P1 in the warning warm-up.
24:31Mark Marquez leads the way again.
24:32The top two on the grid with the top two in the warm-up.
24:35Mark Marquez from Joan Zarco,
24:36Miguel Oliveira not too shabby in the way himself.
24:39Third ahead of Pedro Acosta. Fourth, which is where he now starts later on.
24:42Alex Marquez, fifth from Fabio Quattararo and Luca Marini.
24:45The two factory Hondas, seventh and eighth, which are Mia next up.
24:48Mark Abetzaki, Peck up on Yair inside the top ten.
24:51Then came Jack Miller and Brad Bender, who had an entertaining battle yesterday over fifth and sixth.
24:55Ralph Fernandez, Fermin Aldeguer, Ayagora, who has not enjoyed this weekend
24:58when the track has been wet.
25:00Fifteenth ahead of Fabio Di Gian Antonio,
25:02who certainly has podium potential later on if the race is dry.
25:06Lorenzo Savatore and Alex Rins completing your depleted field of 18 riders.
25:12Well, it's going to be all eyes on the skies for the next few hours.
25:16Will it be a wet or dry or mixed conditions for the 30 lap German Grand Prix
25:20coming up later on this afternoon?
25:22What is in no doubt, Mark Marquez is going to be the star to beat once again
25:27as he looks to stand on top of the podium and reclaim the crown
25:32as the king of the Saxon ring.
25:42Will it be the star
25:44Paul?
25:46Is there a big difference?
