Transcript
00:00It's not Andy and Randy only to start the show.
00:03Uh-huh.
00:04Yes.
00:04Well, uh-huh.
00:05We have a third co-host to start the show here on a hump day,
00:09Pastor Troy in studio to kick the show off.
00:12Let's get Pastor Troy and Mike on real quick.
00:14There we go.
00:15Let's do it.
00:15Hey, now we here.
00:17What's up, baby?
00:17How are you?
00:18I'm doing great, man.
00:19How y'all boys fit?
00:19Doing great, man.
00:20Thanks for coming in.
00:21I appreciate it, man.
00:22Big Mac, what's up, baby?
00:22What's up, family?
00:23I'm chilling.
00:24We got a text.
00:24When was it?
00:25Sunday, about 6.30.
00:27Pastor Troy's coming on.
00:28Hell yeah.
00:30Hell yeah, he's talking about what I want to come on with us.
00:32He's always welcome.
00:33Georgia boys.
00:33So, of course, welcoming everything like that.
00:35And you're here because Hawks are in the playoffs.
00:38Yep.
00:38You're going to be performing or hyping the crowd up.
00:40Yep, man.
00:41They let me get loose tomorrow, man.
00:42Everybody, come on down, man.
00:43Grab your ticket.
00:44I don't care if it's standing room only.
00:45We got to give it a real atmosphere down here, man.
00:48We're trying to build something, man.
00:49And these boys look good.
00:50I agree.
00:51I mean, the way that they played in the first two,
00:53obviously coming back and getting game two.
00:55Now you get to come home with the split.
00:57With some motivation, man.
00:58You know what I mean?
00:59We got soldier boy performing.
01:01My boy, Mike Clark Jr. performing.
01:03And I'm doing my thing, man.
01:04We're going to really just – we really want to be that, you know,
01:07that six man for real to make a difference in the game, man.
01:10I have no doubt that it will.
01:11I mean, that's the thing.
01:13Like, playoff atmosphere at State Farm.
01:15It's crazy.
01:16When the Hawks are going.
01:17I mean, it's been a little bit.
01:18But I remember four or five years ago when they went on that run with Trey.
01:22It's crazy.
01:23Yeah, fun.
01:23It'll be just like that.
01:24Yeah, man.
01:25Hey, man, make sure we buy those tickets up because there's a lot of NYC here.
01:29Right.
01:29And they will be in the building.
01:31So, we got to make sure there ain't no home game for them.
01:33You know, we got a bad case of that here in Atlanta.
01:36Hey, Troy, when you go back to this whole season, you know,
01:39obviously expectations when you get Porzingis and guys like that.
01:42Yeah.
01:42The trade of Trey.
01:43What was your initial thought process?
01:45Man, you know what?
01:46I saw the boys playing while Trey was hurt, and they were winning so many games.
01:51Then when Trey got back, they just started playing a different kind of basketball.
01:55It was like they were force-feeding it to them, man, and they weren't winning.
01:58You know what I mean, man?
02:00I hate to say it.
02:02I know a lot of people may not like it or agree with it,
02:04but I was down for the trade when they made it.
02:07I was down for it.
02:08Yeah, I mean, if it would have been a couple years ago,
02:10I think a lot of people would have had a bad reaction to it.
02:13Different understanding, yeah, yeah.
02:13But it just kind of felt like, you know,
02:15and it's nothing against Trey the player.
02:17Trey had some great moments, but it just felt like the time had come.
02:20It was just time for us to – they were playing team ball.
02:23It wasn't nobody.
02:24It wasn't just a go-to person.
02:26It was everybody, you know what I mean?
02:27Not anybody, everybody, you know.
02:29So I like that kind of ball they're playing, man.
02:32If my boy Dyson and my boy Jalen get on finally and play their game,
02:37man, we would blow them boys out.
02:38But please don't blow them out tomorrow night down here in Atlanta.
02:41Boy, whoo, whoo, it's going to be a party.
02:46Please don't do that.
02:47Well, I mean, everybody knows you, you know, you love all Atlanta.
02:50Obviously, you love them dogs up there.
02:52For sure.
02:52What is your outlook for these Falcons?
02:55Because the draft's tomorrow.
02:55They don't have a first-round pick, obviously.
02:57But, you know, new coach, new regime.
02:59That worked out in our favor, man.
03:00We would have had a problem tomorrow.
03:03But, you know, usually draft day,
03:04we do the big event at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium and all that stuff.
03:07But we don't have a first-round pick.
03:08So I guess everybody will be at the Hawks game.
03:11But I'm looking forward to Stefanski, man.
03:13Just got to give him a chance, man.
03:14What can we change?
03:15He's the head coach.
03:17Preach.
03:17You know what I mean?
03:18Preach.
03:18So we just want to see what it do.
03:20If y'all going to boo him and stuff, man,
03:22get that over with during the preseason games, man.
03:25Please don't embarrass our city booing him on the first home game.
03:30Please.
03:31Pastor Troy joining us here on the Midday Show with Andy and Randy
03:34to kick off the show here on a hump day,
03:36getting ready for the Hawks game three tomorrow night against the Knicks.
03:38I know before you came in, kind of a fun little passing of ships there
03:43with you coming in with us.
03:45Yeah.
03:45And Brian Snitker was in with the Steakhouse
03:47because he's going into the Braves Hall of Fame on Saturday.
03:49Oh, man, that's so dope, man.
03:50To be able to catch up with Coach,
03:51I was able to tell him that I went to game five of the World Series here
03:55and we lost.
03:56We already knew.
03:57We were like, man, they're going to win in Houston, man.
03:58We jumped straight on our flights and went down there.
04:00And they did it, man.
04:02I was telling them that when we first got to the game,
04:04our seats was up in the nosebleeds, man.
04:06You know, by the time we got to the seventh, eighth inning
04:09and they saw that they were going to lose,
04:11all the Houston fans let out of there.
04:13And all the Braves, man, man,
04:15we were down to the dugout when they won, man.
04:18So it was cool, man, just to share that with them.
04:21Who's your favorite Brave right now?
04:22My favorite Brave right now is my boy Acuna.
04:25I love him.
04:25And my boy Mike Harris, man.
04:26I'm proud of both of them boys.
04:28They hold it all the way down, man.
04:31The Braves looking good, man.
04:32The Braves looking good.
04:33Had a crazy game last night, but we'll be all right.
04:35Yeah.
04:36They can't win them all.
04:37Yeah, spit it out.
04:37Yeah.
04:38Like they say, man, the beginning of this year was the first time
04:42that I really paid attention to if you win the series,
04:46you'll be in the playoffs.
04:47You know what I mean?
04:48So it ain't even about winning all three games and sweeping everybody, man.
04:51Win two.
04:53You know what I mean?
04:54Win the series.
04:55I haven't lost one yet this year.
04:56And they, look, they're in good position to beat the Nationals in this series, too.
05:00And we were talking a little bit beforehand.
05:02Acuna got plunked a couple times the other night.
05:04Man, I liked it when they went right back there out there and plunked they man, too.
05:07You know what I mean?
05:08Oh, yeah.
05:09Old school baseball.
05:10Randy wants them to go fight.
05:11I want to go fight.
05:12You want to fight?
05:12I'm just like, you know, it's just one of the things where.
05:15I do too, actually.
05:16I agree with Randy.
05:17He ain't throw it.
05:18Just a hard step at him or something.
05:20Our pitcher ain't throw the ball and hit the National player harder as I would have threw
05:24it.
05:24But, you know, he didn't throw it back and hit him.
05:27So I was like, okay.
05:28You know, it's all game.
05:30But that old school baseball, man, they definitely don't do it like that no more, man.
05:34What you think about them dogs, right?
05:36The dogs going to be all right, man.
05:37I like what I saw in the spring game, man.
05:39A lot of those running backs doing their thing, tight ends doing their thing.
05:42I'm excited about it, man.
05:44Just get out here and go hard.
05:45That SEC is tough, though, man.
05:46That SEC is tough.
05:50Pastor Troy joining us in studio, midday show with Andy and Randy.
05:53Kick off the show here on Wednesday, like he said.
05:55He'll be in the stadium tomorrow night, hyping up the crowd in the six-man section.
06:00I know Soulja Boy is going to be performing at halftime.
06:02You mentioned Mike Clark Jr. is going to be doing the national anthem as well.
06:05Man, it's going to be real dope, man.
06:06ATL, if you don't have no tickets, man, you don't have nothing to do, come on down and
06:09support the home team, man.
06:11Come get in the atmosphere, man.
06:12Come to a restaurant.
06:13Come to a bar.
06:14Just do it big down there at State Farm Arena, man.
06:17They're going to play your song, man?
06:18Oh, boy.
06:18We're going to have that thing right.
06:19Okay.
06:19You already know that, baby.
06:21I'm just going to say, what song are you doing?
06:23Man, I'm going to do no more playing jazz.
06:25Okay, come on, man.
06:25Hey, come on, man.
06:27ATL, yeah.
06:28Yeah.
06:29ATL, yeah.
06:29You know, everybody knows when that thing drops and when we could.
06:33It's time to party.
06:33When we used to be able to play other kinds of music.
06:36And Bo, my man Bo, who was our engineer back then, he would drop it.
06:38What up, Bo?
06:39And everything would just stop.
06:41Everything would stop.
06:42All the listeners would take over.
06:43All the listeners would be tweeting, oh, yeah.
06:45Because, I mean, I still remember the day when it dropped.
06:48We were up in Athens.
06:49I don't know where the hell we were at, Andy.
06:52And it's dropped.
06:53And we're like, what the hell is this?
06:54Georgia, we ready.
06:56We ready.
06:56Bro, man.
06:57What's so dope?
06:58Man, I dropped that album.
06:59That was 98, 99.
07:00Y'all boys first got a taste of that album.
07:02So, man, it's on the locker room playlist right now.
07:07You know what I mean?
07:07I mean, that's what I'm saying.
07:08It's a classic.
07:09I love it.
07:09It's a classic.
07:10So long ago.
07:10We started listening to it, like you said, about 99.
07:13And I remember it was on my playlist.
07:15It was still the last song from that time until the day I stopped playing football.
07:20It's just one of the things that's always got to be on the play.
07:22That's so dope, man.
07:23I appreciate that, bro.
07:24Because it did so much for so many players, man.
07:26I done met so many players through the music.
07:30You know what I mean?
07:31So many guys.
07:32I mean, Troy, I listen to Vice and Versa Thomas Davis.
07:34Yes, sir.
07:34I listen to Vice and Versa before every game.
07:37You know what I mean, man?
07:37Even Julio.
07:38I met Julio at a concert down at University of Alabama when he was on his recruitment visit.
07:45They like, Troy, man, it's this dude Julio Jones.
07:48I met like the Q-Dog party.
07:50He's like, man, Troy, it's this dude Julio Jones.
07:51You got to talk to him, man.
07:53You got to tell him to come to Alabama.
07:54I was like, all right, man.
07:55Whoa, whoa.
07:57I'm in Alabama.
07:58I'm at Tuscaloosa, man.
08:00What can I say?
08:01If you would have told him to come to Athens when he came to Athens,
08:04I wasn't going to say that in Tuscaloosa with all the Q-Dogs.
08:09I said whatever they wanted me to say.
08:11Look, man, they go get him.
08:14I'm like, what's up, man?
08:17He's like, what's up?
08:18I'm Julio Jones.
08:19He's about 17 years old, man.
08:21I was like, man, man, the boys want you to come to Alabama, man.
08:24He's like, I'm coming.
08:25I didn't know nothing about him.
08:27Did not know he was going to turn into this.
08:29But we stayed in contact all through his college career.
08:32He called me after the national championship playing vice versa after they had just won it.
08:38Now we're friends.
08:38We're hanging out.
08:40And the Atlanta Falcons did all that trading up for me to finally have a friend that's good to come
08:46to the city.
08:47Oh, my God.
08:48I shared a deal.
08:49It came full circle.
08:50You did that in Alabama.
08:50It's so dope, man.
08:51But then the Falcons traded up to get him and he had a great career.
08:54I'm sitting up here like, wow.
08:55Usually, man, with me having friends that are good at football and stuff like that, they go to the farthest
09:00team with the first pick.
09:01You know what I mean?
09:02Like, oh, God.
09:03He went to Seattle.
09:04Randy always tells stories about when they were in college and the song would come on and how hyped everybody
09:09would get.
09:10Maybe some property damage is happening.
09:12From your perspective, you're the one performing the song.
09:15Like, what's the craziest you ever saw a crowd get when you're performing?
09:20I really don't see it get that crazy, crazy because by then I'm like, all right, I'm out of here.
09:26That's usually what you close out with, right?
09:28Yeah, yeah.
09:28You know, I set it off.
09:29It's like the last song.
09:31So I try to, those younger days, it was wow.
09:35But now it's done got so legendary, man.
09:37Everybody just have a good time with it.
09:39But you know we've seen a million fights and stuff to it, man.
09:42That's just what people used to do out the music.
09:44That's true.
09:44Exactly.
09:45That's what I'm saying.
09:46At least they weren't killing each other.
09:47It was just a good fight.
09:48It wasn't that because it was so funny.
09:51My wife sent me a video maybe a month ago.
09:54We got married out in California.
09:56And the DJ played that song.
09:58It was a special quest.
10:00And you can see, I got to find a video.
10:02It's me and all the groomsmen and everybody from Georgia that flew out to California, all
10:06my cousins.
10:07And that song came on and we went crazy.
10:09And then they watched my wife's family look around like, this is what she's married.
10:16What is this song?
10:18What is this song that got them this hype in this thing, man?
10:23But yeah, this is an awesome thing because we want this, like you said, we've been talking
10:27about it.
10:27I know all the other shows.
10:28Yeah.
10:28Like, this is a big game.
10:30Yeah.
10:30Like Andy says.
10:30Playoffs, basketball in Atlanta because it's a different vibe because the fact that, yeah.
10:36Just coming 1-1.
10:37Just being 1-1.
10:39Man, I watched the game by myself at my record store.
10:41I watched the game on four TVs by myself.
10:44You know what I mean?
10:44Just walking and pacing and saying, I do not want to perform and we are 0-2.
10:51I did not want to do that.
10:531-1.
10:54I'm over here doing interviews on 92.9, the game and everything, man.
10:58It changed the whole vibe going into Game 3.
11:00You know how I feel good about it.
11:01Pastor Troy, we appreciate it.
11:02Appreciate you, man.
11:03Much love, man.
11:04Appreciate it, man.
11:04Much love, baby.
11:05Have a great time on Thursday.
11:06I know you will.
11:06That's Pastor Troy.
11:08Like we mentioned, he'll be in the building on Thursday night.
11:10Game 3 for the Hawks hyping up the crowd.
11:12He'll be a part of the six-man section during the game.
11:14Soldier Boy going to be performing at halftime.
11:16Mike Clark Jr. is doing the National Anthem.
11:18And the Hawks have an opportunity to go up two games to one.
11:20They've got home court advantage.
11:22They've retaken it by splitting the series in New York and winning Game 2.
11:26All right.
11:27Randy and Troy are going to listen.
11:28He's going to show them the video from his wedding.
11:30All right.
11:31We'll take a quick break.
11:32We'll come back and get to what's trending here on a hump day.
11:34Thanks for being with us.
11:35Sports Radio 92.9, the game.
