00:01The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has clarified that the 230 million ringgit misappropriation case involving a non-governmental organization concerns
00:10public donations, not zakat funds, as was widely reported earlier.
00:15Its chief commissioner, Tanshri Azambaki, confirmed that the NGO received contributions from various sources, including commissions from certain collections, all
00:23of which were intended for those in need.
00:26Earlier on Wednesday, two men, aged 57 and 61, including the NGO's deputy chairman, were remanded for four days until
00:34April 25th by Magistrate Amira Mastura Kamis at the Shah Alam Magistrates Court, following an M.A.C.C. application.
00:43The pair are among three individuals arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of misappropriating the 230 million ringgit in NGO funds.
00:50In a significant development, the NGO has now been identified as Pertubuhan Ikram Malaysia, or Ikram, a prominent Islamic NGO
00:59that focuses on dakwa, education, and social welfare.
01:04Its president, Badlisha Shambaharin, confirmed in a statement that the organization has suspended all three individuals and is extending its
01:12full cooperation to the M.A.C.C.
01:14He stressed that the case involves the personal actions of individuals and does not directly implicate Ikram as an organization.
01:22However, he gave firm assurance that if the members are found guilty, disciplinary action will be taken to uphold Ikram's
01:28integrity.
