00:00The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has intercepted a significant cash movement
00:06in connection with an ongoing investigation into army procurement irregularities.
00:12Its chief commissioner, Tan Sri Azambaki, said,
00:15M.A.C.C. officers seized approximately 2.4 million ringgit in cash
00:20that was allegedly being moved between residences by an individual linked to the case.
00:26He revealed the operation during a visit to Media Prima Berhad headquarters on Wednesday.
00:32The seized funds are believed to be proceeds from irregularities in military procurement contracts.
00:38Azambaki said the individual attempted to transfer the money from one residence to another
00:42before authorities intervened.
00:45The M.A.C.C. formally launched its investigation on December 23rd
00:49when officers visited the Defence Ministry to trace projects implemented through open tender procurement
00:55as well as procurements under the Army's Responsibility Centre.
00:59Initial investigations revealed that between 2023 and 2025,
01:06there were 158 military procurement projects valued at more than 500,000 ringgit each
01:13and another 4,521 smaller projects worth below 500,000 ringgit.
01:20On Tuesday, 17 company directors aged between 20 and 60 were placed under remand
01:27on suspicion of paying bribes to senior officers of the Malaysian Army
01:32in return for obtaining supply and maintenance projects.
01:36The case is being investigated under Section 16B of the M.A.C.C. Act 2009.
