00:06it's a simple recipe because it's just got standard cup measurements right through so
00:12it's easy for someone cup of plain flour a cup of sugar a cup of rolled oats and a cup
00:17of desiccated
00:18coconut so all those are pantry staples most people have them in their pantries the nicest
00:24biscuits obviously are if you use fresh ingredients so if your rolled oats or your
00:32coconut have been sitting in the pantry for a couple of years probably time to buy some fresh
00:37ones if you're going to make some of these biscuits then you've just got to melt your butter
00:43most people can often just do that in the microwave and put your golden syrup in the warm butter so
00:51that the syrup becomes soft and mixes add a bit of boiling water and your bicarb will make it all
00:58fizzy up which gives it that lovely texture and then just pour it all over your combined dry ingredients
01:07so yeah the recipe also says to just drop teaspoonfuls on of mixture on the trays but obviously
01:14people like different sized biscuits so if you like a bigger biscuit then you probably want some more
01:21so one of my other little tips is to use a little little ice cream scoop it gets all your
01:28biscuits the
01:29same size particularly if you're doing it for a competition or something then you want to try and
01:35have as many even looking biscuits as you possibly can and then as i said just pop them in the
01:41oven
01:42do do two or three on a tray first and test your temperature and your time so you know how
01:48long to
01:48bake them for and then um and then away you go you know if some people like them crisp then
01:55you can just
01:55leave them in for a little bit longer or just leave some in for a bit longer and take some
02:01out earlier
02:01a lot of people use backing paper but more recently we've been testing out some of the new silicon mats
02:09and
02:09um and so those also are very good if you happen to have some of those the other thing is
02:16you'll find
02:17there's quite a bit of variation in oven temperature so some recipes say to set your oven to 180 degrees
02:24and some say 160 and i've even seen recipes with 170 so that can be a bit confusing for people
02:31who are
02:31making um these biscuits particularly for the first time so i always recommend that you do
02:38put a couple of biscuits make up a couple and just stick them in the oven to test your oven
02:43temperature
02:43and try and find the optimum temperature temperature before you go ahead and bake a whole batch of 40
02:50biscuits and find that they're too crisp on the edge or they're not quite cooked enough and so it's always
02:57important because no two oven is the same and ovens vary and oven temperatures vary uh quite a bit so
03:07if you're not sure start off a little bit lower and then you can bring your temperature up if you
03:13need
03:13to so when they come out of the oven just let them sit on the tray for a little while
03:18to cool a bit
03:19before you take them off put them on a um on a cooling rack most people have one of those
03:26in their cupboards
03:27but if you're baking for a competition uh or you're baking to um you know you want something you want
03:36them to look really nice make sure you put a tea towel over your uh rack baking uh your um
03:45cooling rack so that you don't get rack marks and marks underneath the biscuits
03:50the biscuits not that people ever look too closely unless you're a judge obviously
04:02no
