DOJ confirms ongoing coordination with Czech Republic on Zaldy Co’s detention

Department of Justice (DOJ) Acting Secretary Fredderick A. Vida said the Philippine government is still working with the Czech Republic on the possible return of former congressman Zaldy Co. He emphasized that diplomatic relations are strong and that talks are happening on equal and respectful terms. Vida also clarified that no formal summons has been issued to the Czech ambassador, and that decisions on custody will be made by the courts, especially the Sandiganbayan, in accordance with legal procedures and hearing requirements.
