00:01I feel like my career has been successful. I've had ups and downs and I'm very grateful for my whole
00:07entire journey. I wouldn't change anything about it because I think it grew me into the person that
00:14I am today so I'm very grateful for that journey and to have so much success but I'm also really
00:19excited to shine a light on the sports world and to be here at Laureus as an ambassador to show
00:25everyone just like Mandela said that sports have the opportunity to change the world and we've
00:31witnessed firsthand that that is true and it is possible so it's super exciting. I feel like
00:37whenever I was younger it was a little bit overwhelming but obviously as I've matured
00:41and gotten older I've learned how to handle that pressure a little bit better. Of course I've had
00:47to outsource help to help me which is seeking mental therapy because at the end of the day as
00:54athletes we're so physically talented and successful but we have to make sure that our mental is up to
01:01par as well. The failures were hard but I have a great group surrounding me that teach me and help
01:09me through those hard lessons. I mean there are a lot of tears for the downfalls but there's always
01:15a beautiful story to come out of it so. The best advice I've ever received was from my mom. She
01:22always
01:22told me before every competition to just be the best Simone and that's always stuck with me so that I'm
01:28not trying to compete against anybody else because I can only control what I do out there and not what
01:33anybody else does so to just stay true to who I am. The best advice I have to give? I
01:39would say to have
01:40fun because sports go by so fast and before you know it you'll be old mature and retiring so really
01:48embrace that journey. Oh my gosh well the Paris comeback was incredible. I feel like it was a story
01:54that everybody was waiting to see how it would play out. Obviously I had my goals that I wanted
02:00to accomplish and although I didn't get to accomplish all of them I'm really thankful that I was even able
02:07to get back into the gym and start flipping again with confidence but it was a dream come true to
02:12compete
02:13in Paris and to be able to achieve some of the things that I never thought I might be able
02:17to do
02:17again so I definitely can't complain. It was super exciting and to have everyone on that journey with
02:24me meant the world. Oh my goodness well obviously redeeming ourselves in the team final was super
02:30exciting. I feel like we all knew deep down that we were capable of getting gold but it was just
02:37it came down to execution which we personally I think did beautifully and it was a success but
02:44again the all-around me and Rebecca Andrade head-to-head going at it and that was really
02:52nerve-wracking but it really pushed me to be the best someone that I could be. Oh my gosh my
02:57recent
02:58excitement I feel like for me American football is about to come back so my husband is at OTAs right
03:04now so that's really exciting but besides that coming up in like the near future I would say
03:09Laureus Awards tonight I mean it's kind of the pinnacle of sporting awards and so I'm really
03:15excited to see everyone and to celebrate everyone's success tonight. The future I feel like we've seen
03:21so much in the sporting world that we thought would never be accomplished so to keep breaking down those
03:28barriers being a light having a voice for sports and using that outlet for good um we can kind of
03:35achieve anything so I'm really excited to see where sports are going to go from here and it might be
03:40scary one day when we all have kids and to see what they're able to accomplish. Everyone loves to ask
03:45this
03:45question I feel like I'm not sure at what capacity I'll be there if it's on the floor or in
03:49the stands
03:50but I do anticipate being there. Oh it's baby Simone um I would tell her to have fun keep her
04:01chin up
04:01and just be you be yourself still be outspoken um and believe in your dreams and go after them.
