00:00Not everyone's on the Ozempic train and honestly your stomach doesn't have to
00:03know the difference. Hi, I'm Carly Stern. I'm not a doctor, but I know one. Let's go
00:07ask an expert.
00:14I have heard that there are some foods that are basically nature's Ozempic that
00:17are gonna speed up your metabolism. Is there any truth to that?
00:20That's a great question, Carly. So actually GLP-1 stands for glucagon-like
00:24peptide 1, which is actually produced in your small intestine. And every time you
00:27eat, so anytime there's nutrition in your body, GLP-1 gets released. So all foods
00:31when you eat cause the release of GLP-1. So there are no magic foods, but what can
00:35people do to feel fuller for longer? So even without GLP-1 medications, we can
00:39optimize our satiety and reduce our hunger and really keep track of our
00:43metabolic health. So let's talk about some of these strategies. Yeah, give me the
00:46tips. Alright, so the first tip I have is actually to focus on protein and fiber as
00:50the prime of your meal. So these are nutrient-dense and they actually can help
00:54you feel fuller for longer. The second tip I have is actually to strategize on when
00:59we're hydrating. So if we hydrate prior to our meals, that can help us stay fuller
01:02for longer, but also we can help you distinguish the difference between thirst
01:06and hunger. The third tip I have is to actually pay attention to your food while
01:10you're eating. So be mindful and avoid distractions. And the fourth tip I have is
01:14actually about sleep. Ooh, I love sleep. Tell me more. As you should. So if you don't get
01:18enough sleep, actually you can have a reduction in your satiety hormones that
01:22actually keep you full and an increase in your hunger hormones like ghrelin. So
01:25it's really, really important to get good sleep. Okay, so basically go to bed, eat
01:29less. Go to bed, your hormones keep you in check, and it helps you stay fuller for
01:33longer. Awesome. Thanks so much for the tips. Have more questions? Check out NYU and
