00:11We are meeting today at the moment when geopolitics is reshaping supply chain, supply chain decisions
00:22as profoundly as cost or engineering capability ever did.
00:31A war in West Asia, termed as the Middle East, is sending tremors through global markets,
00:43driving energy prices up and pushing capital, pushing capital out of some markets.
00:51Yet in recent weeks, global funds bought over $2 billion in Malaysian bonds.
00:58This is great news for Malaysia. The highest inflow in 10 months.
01:04The ringgit has been Asia's best performing currency for two consecutive years.
01:10Our economy grew 5.2% last year. And Malaysia has also attracted record levels of investment, driven by manufacturing,
01:23semiconductors and aerospace, largest from United States to China to Germany, Europe and other parts of the world.
01:34None has arrived without effort. We have relentlessly committed ourselves to policy reforms and sustained engagement with firms and fund
01:47managers,
01:47many of whom are spoiled for choice as to where they put their money and their manufacturing.
01:57That work continues. And we will pursue it with discipline.
02:04They have seen a government that follows through on what it commits to.
02:09They have seen an economy that held its ground while conditions around it deteriorated.
02:17And they have seen something that Malaysians ourselves do not say often enough.
02:24That this country makes things the world genuinely depends on.
02:30One Malaysian-owned company holds Tier 1 supply status with a leading global aero engine manufacturer,
02:42producing here in Malaysia components that only a small number of countries are trusted to make.
02:51I wish to take this opportunity to directly speak to many defence and aerospace companies in this hall.
03:00What has placed Malaysian manufacturers inside the most demanding commercial supply chains in the world is precisely what is relevant
03:11to you.
03:12The culture of precision and accountability that satisfies the most exacting commercial buyers do not change at the boundary between
03:25civil and defence aerospace.
03:28In the vast majority of platforms, it involves the same discipline applied by the same people and in the same
03:39facilities.
03:40In the vast majority of employers, it is prepared to expand their jobs,
03:42in the vast majority of countries in the world.
03:43It is one of the most important things that's going to be key to independence.
