New Jersey governor Mikie Sherill explains why train tickets to World Cup games are rising.
Transcript
00:00You may have seen some recent headlines about transportation costs for World Cup games in
00:04New Jersey.
00:05So, let me tell you exactly where things stand.
00:09Our administration inherited an agreement where FIFA is providing zero dollars for transportation
00:16to the World Cup, zero.
00:18That leaves New Jersey Transit with a $48 million bill to safely get 40,000 fans to
00:25and from every game.
00:27At the same time, FIFA is making $11 billion off of this World Cup and charging fans up
00:35to $10,000 for a single ticket for the final.
00:38I won't stick New Jersey's commuters with that tab for years to come.
00:43That's not fair.
00:44So here's the bottom line.
00:46FIFA should pay for the rides, but if they don't, I'm not going to let New Jersey commuters
00:50get taken for one.
