00:02Do you feel a bit rusty? Yes, very rusty. Definitely need a WD for our day. I need some
00:09help. It's hard out there. I am very single at the moment. I've run out of swipes. I've
00:16completed Tinder. In the heart of Britain's most romantic city, Fred and his team, this is Captain
00:26Fur Potato, are matching hopeful singletons. We're getting married, Merlin. In a place
00:32where love is always on the menu. I've got a bit in your finger. You didn't go that far down
00:37the strip.
00:40These daters. He probably thinks I'm having a poo or something. Are searching for the one.
00:49Would you chase me around the bedroom? Absolutely. Get your coat. I'm in. For some,
00:54stepping into the unknown can lead to surprising sparks. I work in the adult industry. Do you
01:02have an office for that? I have a dungeon. But finding a connection. A love story is about
01:09to begin. Shut up! Isn't always easy. Please tell me you actually last longer than three minutes.
01:18Help me! In the end, it comes down to one big question. Would you guys like to see each
01:30other again? This isn't at all quick, is it? This is the First Dates Restaurants.
01:45I'm single. I'm always waiting for the right person. And it's really about chemistry for me.
01:51Get your coat on your board. Which is kind of exciting. Yes. Boom. Let's go.
01:59It's just so tangible. That body language when you can see two people at a table.
02:05I'm more of a lover than a foyer. All right, Rocky.
02:07It's like a full on three part drama. Is this a swoon moment?
02:12Do you know what I mean? It's grey. I've not felt that, like, igniting spark and, like,
02:20the butterflies in my belly for an extremely long period of time. And that's what I'm looking for.
02:26One, two, three, four. 27-year-old yoga teacher Nicole runs two businesses and is looking for a
02:33man who doesn't think in cliches. Guys see it as she's a yoga teacher, she's going to be flexible,
02:38she's going to be getting in bed. But I'm actually quite a nice person as well.
02:43Place one foot forward facing that way. Are you going to join in?
02:47I don't know. What are you doing?
02:48Doing a warrior pose. Doing a warrior pose.
02:49Oh, my God. Yes.
02:51Bit of yoga before the date. I mean, you do what you got to do.
02:55Open up this right arm and take it up to the sky.
03:01Do you ever do yoga? Sun salutations like this.
03:08And then you're supposed to bend over.
03:10Like, like, really? Oh, God. Can you touch your toes?
03:14No, not today. That's how you're going to hand drinks over to people now.
03:19It's, yeah. Over this part, certainly.
03:22I've actually put all of my love into running both my yoga businesses.
03:26Now I'm happy. I want to be happier with someone.
03:29What are your thoughts about a mystery man?
03:31I'm looking for a man that can scoop me up and make me feel like a princess.
03:37I love, like, Paul Maskell. I just love his vibe, facial hair, his, like, scrappy hair on his head.
03:44Even if he's got a bit of a mullet, I'm okay with that.
03:50I would describe myself as quite a calming presence, maybe.
03:5524-year-old mindfulness teacher Matthew is here to manifest his dream woman.
04:00Natural beauty is important to me.
04:02I think my ideal woman would be at least my age or a couple of years older, emotionally mature.
04:08And if they had a spiritual side, then that would be a massive plus.
04:12You look so chilled.
04:14Ah, thank you so much.
04:16I have seen some relaxed walk, but this is a very zen walk.
04:23Let me take your coat.
04:24Thank you so much. Thank you.
04:33Hello.
04:34How are you?
04:35I'm good.
04:36Lovely to meet you.
04:37Lovely to meet you.
04:37Oh, it's so nice to finally, like, actually see you.
04:40What's your name?
04:41Nicole.
04:41Nicole.
04:42Yeah.
04:42Matthew.
04:43Matthew.
04:44How are you feeling?
04:45I'm really excited.
04:48Isn't it beautiful, by the way?
04:49Thank you so much.
04:51Hello, buddy.
04:51What can I get you?
04:52A passion fruit mojito or something?
04:53I can do that.
04:54Yeah.
04:55Cheers.
04:56Mojito it is.
04:57You're with mojito?
04:57Yeah.
04:58Speaking my language.
04:59Yeah.
05:00By the way, your eyes are, like, beautiful.
05:03Blue?
05:04Yeah, they're, like, a blue, sometimes grey, sometimes green.
05:08Very nice.
05:08Yeah, I love it.
05:10Cheers.
05:10So let's finally meet you.
05:11Lovely to meet you.
05:16Returning to the restaurant is Kerry, a retired police detective whose last date wasn't arresting,
05:22but she's still on the case.
05:25I was in two minds about coming back, but it's got to get better, surely, anyway, so you're right.
05:31Where are you from?
05:32Originally New York City.
05:33I love it.
05:34Have you been to New York?
05:35No, it's full of Americans, isn't it?
05:40I'd say it's the worst date I've ever been on in my whole life, ever.
05:45The bare minimum that I wanted was a laugh and a nice experience, and it didn't happen.
05:51Hello, Fred.
05:52How are you?
05:53I love your twins.
05:54You scrub up well.
05:55Oh, thank you.
05:57So what happened last time?
05:58No connection, no conversation, no flirting.
06:02Flat.
06:03Yeah, absolutely.
06:04Dry as a bone.
06:05Right.
06:05All right, let's go to the bar.
06:07Thanks, Fred.
06:08Will you win some, you lose some?
06:11And we're all in some.
06:12Oh, hello, then.
06:12We are your wingmen.
06:13You're back.
06:14I couldn't wish for two better wingmen.
06:15I'm back.
06:16Sit down.
06:16Get comfortable first.
06:17Let's get you a drink.
06:18Um, a lovely limey gin.
06:21Lots of ice.
06:22Lots of ice.
06:22With tonic.
06:23Yeah, that's the one.
06:25What happened, man?
06:26He was quite rude to the waiter.
06:28Oh, oh.
06:29I wore my special dress.
06:30No compliments.
06:31Last time it was black vamp leather.
06:34Yeah.
06:35Today, I've gone for a different look.
06:36Right.
06:37Sunday school teacher.
06:38Okay, but that's not going to change your personality though, is it?
06:40No, absolutely not.
06:41Well, there we go.
06:42No.
06:42Right.
06:43This date, I've actually set my bar really low.
06:46One more go.
06:47I'd love to meet somebody where there is a spark, but I'm not going to have these high
06:51expectations because it's possibly going to lead me to disappointment.
06:56Hiya.
06:58Kerry's date is Andy, a tennis coach hoping today's match scores love all.
07:04Someone said to me the other day, I'm like a neon light sparkling away.
07:07Feels so good.
07:09I still believe in old-fashioned romance.
07:11You lying here next to me.
07:12I still believe in flowers.
07:14I still believe in opening doors for ladies.
07:18So flirting is a big thing for me.
07:20That flirting begins straight away.
07:25He's a rock star.
07:27How are you?
07:28I'm very good, Fred.
07:29I'm very good.
07:30Nice to meet you.
07:31What an entrance.
07:32Thank you very much.
07:33It's no.
07:35Okay, your date is at the bar.
07:37Brilliant.
07:37She is really great.
07:39I'll let you in.
07:40Take care, man.
07:41Thank you, Fred.
07:41Enjoy.
07:42Enjoy.
07:42That's for you.
07:43Hiya.
07:44Hello.
07:45Hiya.
07:46How are you doing?
07:46How are you doing?
07:47You look lovely.
07:47These are for you.
07:48Oh, wow.
07:50That's showing off, isn't it?
07:51Wow, that's one of the best.
07:52I'm Andy.
07:53Nice to meet you.
07:53I'm Kerry.
07:54Nice to meet you.
07:55That is just phenomenal.
07:56I love your dress.
07:57Oh, thank you.
07:58I chose it especially.
07:59It's the Sunday school teacher look.
08:01Are you a Sunday school teacher?
08:02No, I'm not.
08:03Far from.
08:04Hello, man.
08:05Hi, Merlin.
08:07Andy, really nice to meet you, Andy.
08:09That's a fantastic jacket.
08:10Isn't it?
08:10Thank you very much.
08:10I love that.
08:11I'm impressed.
08:12Yeah, I love it.
08:12Merlin, look.
08:13And flowers.
08:14Oh, we're getting married.
08:18Kerry's on the sherry.
08:19What about you, Andy?
08:21I'm going to ask you for a slow, comfortable screw.
08:23Yeah, cool.
08:24Because why wouldn't you do that?
08:25I wish I knew.
08:26We could have had one together.
08:29I am well impressed with the flowers.
08:30That is a nice touch.
08:31Last time I went on a date and took some flowers was probably 20,
08:3430 years ago.
08:35Blind date, I think I've only ever been on two.
08:37One was when I was in the police.
08:40Are you a policeman?
08:41Not now, but I was.
08:43Do you know what?
08:44I'm ex-copper as well.
08:45Are you really?
08:46Yeah.
08:46So what do you do now?
08:47I'm a tennis coach now.
08:48Lovely.
08:49You play tennis?
08:49No, crap it.
08:50I don't know.
08:51You could teach me something new.
08:52I don't know.
08:53Merlin, you're a star.
08:55Thank you very much.
08:55My mind is blown.
08:56Cheers.
08:57Cheers.
09:02Great yogurt for me is what I have every single breakfast.
09:04Same.
09:04Great yogurt.
09:07Look at these two over there.
09:09I mean, it's clear they've got chemistry.
09:11It's not like how when I want a Greek yogurt girl for breakfast.
09:13You want me for breakfast?
09:14No, I don't want it.
09:16There is a sexual attraction.
09:18There is the intellectual attraction.
09:20It's clear they've got it.
09:21Yeah, because it's almost like there's just a thing connecting them.
09:26So what's your job?
09:27Like, yeah.
09:29I own a yoga business.
09:31And then I actually have my own wellness venue now.
09:34It's a 24-foot yurt in the South Downs National Park.
09:39I literally run wellness retreats for living.
09:42And it's so weird.
09:43One day, my dream would be to open a retreat center at the South Downs National Park.
09:47Stop.
09:47Yeah, I haven't told anyone then.
09:49Yeah.
09:50Wow.
09:51Love it.
09:52I've just got to take some tablets as well.
09:55That's OK.
09:55Yeah, of course.
09:56Yeah, no worries.
10:00So I actually have cystic fibrosis.
10:02OK.
10:03What is it, if you don't mind me asking?
10:04Yeah.
10:05It's a lifelong condition.
10:07You're born with it.
10:07There's no cure.
10:08It's a deteriorating condition.
10:10So I was quite a healthy child up until I was about seven.
10:15OK.
10:15I was suffering from a chest infection that lasted about three years.
10:18And I was in hospital every three months.
10:23Having cystic fibrosis is a really isolating condition.
10:26Because when you go into hospital, you're in your own cubicle room due to cross infection.
10:30You're physically poorly, but then you're mentally stuck in a box.
10:34It's like prison.
10:35I'm taking about 30 tablets a day and I do different physiotherapy.
10:39But as you get older, maybe there'll be spells in hospital or battling a new chest infection or FOMO.
10:46Fear of missing out is not a great one for me.
10:48My parents were told that I'd only live until I was 16.
10:51I think I have mentally blocked it out as a way of coping.
10:58In 2020, this brand new modulator therapy came about and it kind of was a big turning point for me.
11:04And touch wood, I've been pretty well ever since.
11:10Last year, I started paying into a pension.
11:12Oh, really?
11:13So, I'm like, I'm going to be old.
11:17I've always had to pick myself up, but I would love a partner to say to me,
11:22don't worry, I've got that.
11:23Don't worry, I can help you.
11:25Because I've not had that.
11:27You're quite an independent person, I feel like.
11:28You come across as, yeah.
11:31When actually, I want to feel like a princess and looked after.
11:34Of course.
11:34How old are you?
11:35Guess.
11:37You're 29.
11:39I'm 24.
11:40I'm 24.
11:4124?
11:42You're 24?
11:45You've shocked me.
11:46Yeah, because I thought you were older.
11:48Interesting.
11:53So, what do you do for fun then, Kerry?
11:56I touch myself.
11:58Are you all right there, love?
12:00You just say, I thought I heard you say that.
12:02I thought you were hoping I said that.
12:04No, you did say that.
12:05You did say that.
12:06I like that.
12:06That is a dirty laugh.
12:08I like that.
12:15Come out, Cho.
12:17He's the guy I saw at the fucking train station.
12:20You're the train station?
12:22You're the front door.
12:24So, I said I bet he's my date tomorrow.
12:26Ooh.
12:27What's he like?
12:28He's gorgeous.
12:29He's got beautiful blue eyes.
12:31He's so nice.
12:32How old is he?
12:34He's 24.
12:38He's 20, he is 24.
12:42Sweaty hands.
12:44I love you.
12:45Go and spread your magic, honey.
12:46Love you, bye.
12:48Bye, bye, bye, bye.
12:49Bye, bye, bye.
12:49Bye, bye.
12:51Hello.
12:53Hello, again.
12:54I'm Andy, nice to meet you.
12:55Andy, I'm Gerald.
12:57Gerald, I love the accent.
12:58Where are you from?
12:59I'm originally in New York City.
13:00I love New York.
13:01For me, it's home from home.
13:02I love it.
13:03We had this conversation before, yes.
13:05This is much better than us.
13:06Yeah, it wasn't good.
13:07And drinks, are you good for drinks?
13:09I'm going to have another one of those.
13:10I'm going to have one of those as well, please.
13:12A slow, comfortable screw.
13:14Okay.
13:15Thank you, Gerald.
13:15I'm coming back.
13:16Right, so tell me that I want to know all about you.
13:19So, you've been married?
13:20Yeah, married twice.
13:22Yeah, me too.
13:23Divorced twice.
13:24Me too.
13:24I exited a toxic relationship and I lost a lot of money
13:27and lost a lot of myself in that.
13:32I bought the ex-girlfriend a brand new SUV, trips to Marbella and stuff,
13:37but the relationship was toxic.
13:39And when I stopped being a service provider, that's when it all went wrong.
13:44Money has always attracted the wrong people to me.
13:47I've been in a relationship and I've lost 130 grand,
13:50or I've lent someone 15 grand and haven't paid it back.
13:53I've chosen to be in that relationship and I've ignored signs
13:56because of not wanting to be alone.
13:59So, 2021, I nearly died of COVID.
14:01It was tough times, you know.
14:03Over the last few years, I've realised the true value of time.
14:07None of us know how long we've got.
14:09For me now, I spend time where it's appreciated
14:12and where it's reciprocated and it comes back.
14:15Now I understand that life is for living.
14:18Yeah.
14:19I'd rather spend time on my own rather than putting that into someone
14:23that just takes it for granted.
14:25So I won't waste my time with someone and I won't waste their time either
14:29on something that's not got what I need from it.
14:34Now I'm at the point where I'm quite happy being on my own.
14:37I have a good life.
14:38Don't foxy with me under the table.
14:40Sorry, is that you?
14:41Sorry.
14:41You don't have to apologise, it's fine.
14:44Your boots, nice.
14:45Yeah.
14:45Do you like my tights?
14:46Oh, hello.
14:47Right, they look like old granny ones.
14:49I did say I've gone for the Sunday school look, haven't I?
14:51And granny tights.
14:52I've never seen a granny wearing those.
14:54Sorry, I don't care.
15:00So, tell me a bit more about these mindful retreats.
15:02How have you been doing it?
15:03Where?
15:04Tell me everything.
15:04So, yeah, like two years ago, after university,
15:08I decided not to go into investment banking,
15:12was the original plan.
15:13And in third year, I did a full 180.
15:17I was at university during lockdown,
15:19and I really struggled to connect with the people there.
15:22And my mental health just dipped so much that I ended up having depression and anxiety.
15:28I literally would just sit in bed every day with the curtains closed,
15:32take sleeping pills to not think about how much I wasn't happy with my life.
15:38Nothing was working out.
15:39And I was like, actually, I don't want to do this for the rest of my life.
15:42I want freedom.
15:43I want to do something that I actually care about.
15:46It was in a place where I didn't know how to channel this negative energy inside of me.
15:53I came across a book on mindfulness and living in the present moment.
15:56It really spoke to me.
15:58I was like, this is my calling.
16:00This is what I love.
16:01I spent some time living in a monastery in France,
16:04like learning their way of life.
16:06And then I was like, how can I make this my career?
16:08Wow, what an experience.
16:10I actually learned how to channel my mental health
16:14to become more resilient, more positive about my life.
16:18Just being who I am now is like my biggest accomplishment, I think.
16:22Slow pace, calmness, enjoying life, you know, because what else is there?
16:26Yeah.
16:26Yeah.
16:27I wouldn't want to settle with someone who I didn't believe was the right person for me.
16:32But if the right girl comes, then obviously, it'd be amazing.
16:36Do you know what? I'm going to be honest.
16:38Go on.
16:38I have a feeling I saw you yesterday.
16:41Getting off the train. We both got off the same train.
16:43No.
16:44You had a suitcase, didn't you?
16:45Yeah, yeah, yeah. I knew it was you.
16:46I knew it was you.
16:47No way.
16:47And I walked away and I thought, how funny would it be if that's my date?
16:52No way.
16:52And I said to my girlfriends, oh, my God, he looks like Paul Mezcal.
16:58Oh, that little headshot.
16:59I'll take that.
16:59He is my celebrity crush.
17:06Hey, boss lady.
17:09How is it that every day you just look so sharp?
17:12I'm just trying my best.
17:13Just, yeah.
17:18Here to ignite her love life is 32-year-old firefighter
17:22Abby.
17:23So what's scarier, running into a house fire or going into a first date's restaurant?
17:28A first date's restaurant, for sure.
17:32How are you, Abby?
17:33I'm very good, Fred. How are you?
17:34Yeah, I'm very good.
17:35So tell me, what's gone wrong with dating?
17:37I'm actually not too sure, to be honest.
17:38I've been single a year.
17:40How do you meet somebody these days?
17:42So far, it hasn't worked?
17:43Not yet, no.
17:44And before that, were you in a relationship or...?
17:46Yeah, before I was in a relationship, I'm a very relationship kind of person.
17:50Right.
17:51My friends call me a cream egg.
17:53On the outside, I'm a bit of a hard exterior.
17:55But once I crack, that's it.
17:57I'm, like, really soppy inside.
17:59What would you like?
18:00I love rum.
18:02You'd like probably one of these, then.
18:04That would be perfect, please.
18:05Why, what do you do?
18:06Um, I'm a firefighter.
18:08You're a firefighter?
18:09Yeah.
18:09I've still not rescued anybody yet, so...
18:11Have you not?
18:12Not yet.
18:12I've rescued a cat, I must admit, I have.
18:16It's not the most flattering picture, and I'm definitely not a cat person.
18:21And have you always been a firefighter?
18:23I have been for the past year.
18:25Yeah.
18:26Before that, I was a footballer.
18:28Who did you play for?
18:29I did Man City, Man United and Leicester.
18:32Oh, you were a footballer?
18:33Yeah, a footballer, yeah.
18:34You were a footballer with a capital F.
18:37Kind of.
18:39Tell me, what are you looking for, then?
18:41Yeah, I'm looking for a nice, pretty woman.
18:44Someone that I can chat to, connect with.
18:46Right.
18:47A nice smile.
18:48Nice smile.
18:48A nice little glistening in their eye.
18:54Hi.
18:57Abby's date is Charlotte, a dental nurse from Leeds whose love life needs a polish.
19:03Do you feel a bit rusty?
19:04Yes, very rusty.
19:06Definitely need a WD-40.
19:10If you were to choose one word to describe yourself, what would you choose?
19:15Unique.
19:18Oh, that's another thing.
19:19I'm really weird.
19:20Not like a bad weird.
19:21I'm just different.
19:22I'm one of my own.
19:23I'm a cat.
19:25How are you, Charlotte?
19:26I'm good, thank you.
19:28Very good.
19:30Oh, my God.
19:31What's going on?
19:32You can't find a woman?
19:33No.
19:33Why not?
19:34Just unlucky in love.
19:36Oh, really?
19:37Not to make it a soft story.
19:39Sometimes I do feel like Bridget Jones.
19:42Really?
19:45Yeah, I am.
19:47So you've been dating much lately or...?
19:49I haven't actually been on a date in about a year and a half, so this is quite new to
19:52me.
19:53It's quite fresh.
19:54Your date is at the bar.
19:54OK.
19:56Obviously, they've got to be somewhat attractive.
19:57But, yeah, the main thing is I don't want them to have gum disease.
20:00They can't have gum disease.
20:02Basically, if they've got good oral health, I don't care.
20:07Hi.
20:07Hello.
20:08You OK?
20:09Yeah, I'm good, thanks to you.
20:09I'm Abby.
20:10Nice to meet you.
20:10I'm Charlotte.
20:11Hello.
20:11Nice to meet you.
20:12You look lovely.
20:13You do too.
20:15What have you got?
20:16I've got this one.
20:18Rum is what I drink.
20:19Do you like rum?
20:20Do you really?
20:22I'm from Leeds.
20:24Oh, OK.
20:24Where are you from?
20:25Manchester.
20:25Oh, not too far, then.
20:27How old are you?
20:2932.
20:29All right, OK.
20:30Oh, how old are you?
20:31I'm 28.
20:32What do you do?
20:33I'm a dental nurse.
20:34What about you?
20:34Oh, I'm a firefighter.
20:36Oh, you've got lovely teeth.
20:38And a good job.
20:39Do you do it?
20:40I love it.
20:41It's really good, to be fair.
20:42Do you like cats?
20:46No.
20:49Do you love cats?
20:50Yeah.
20:50I thought you were telling me you don't like cats.
20:52Oh, I love cats.
20:53I have two.
20:56Sorry.
20:56So I've got the cruise cat lady.
20:59You have.
21:05Have you got it?
21:09Is it tasty?
21:10That's good.
21:12So, I've mentioned to you that, obviously, like, you look very much like my celebrity crush.
21:15Like, you're very good looking.
21:17Don't gasp me too much.
21:18What was, like, your, like, top things you were looking for in a relationship or, like, from a person?
21:23I actually said I wanted someone who had the confidence that they don't need me in their life, but they
21:28want me as a bonus, you know?
21:30Independent, strong women.
21:31Which I think you are.
21:33Yeah.
21:33Yeah.
21:33That's actually me spot on.
21:35I liked his face.
21:37Is that too much to say?
21:41Look at that.
21:42Smooth.
21:43But then I was definitely shocked by his age.
21:45I've only dated guys my age and over.
21:48So, I don't know.
21:50Okay, so I'm going to give you a plane ticket.
21:52You're going to give me a plane ticket?
21:53Where are you going?
21:54I'm going to go.
21:56Central America is definitely, like, the next place I want somebody to handle.
22:00What?
22:00Why?
22:01Why are you laughing?
22:01That's my answer.
22:04You're taking all my answers.
22:07Hello.
22:12Well.
22:15I love that you have the same answer.
22:17Yeah.
22:17I thought you were laughing because it was so random.
22:19Yeah, my head was like, for fuck's sake.
22:24So, would you like to see each other again?
22:27Do you want me to go first?
22:28Oh, go on, yeah.
22:29Yeah, I would like to see Nicole again.
22:33Yes.
22:35I would like to see you again.
22:36Thank God, Philip.
22:37Yeah.
22:38Nothing might come out.
22:38Let's just try it.
22:40Oh!
22:43Yay!
22:45Thank God, Philip.
22:46Yeah.
22:47That pause.
22:48I was like...
22:49Oh, sorry.
22:50Time is still.
22:51Right, I'm going for it.
22:53I'm just, I'm just fingering.
22:55Just fingering the jelly.
22:57I love your outlook on life.
22:58I'm very mature for your age.
23:01And I was pleasantly surprised how many things we had in common.
23:04This one must be your one.
23:06I couldn't work out which one was which.
23:07We actually could change.
23:08We could swap coats.
23:09I love your coat.
23:10That's amazing.
23:11There was no awkward moment from start to finish.
23:13It was just so much fun.
23:15Yeah.
23:15I had the best time.
23:17Yes.
23:19Amazing.
23:20Love it.
23:28Imagine you being a policeman.
23:29What are the chances of that?
23:31I know, right?
23:31Because a lot of people go, oh, no, I can't see you being a policeman.
23:34They say that to me.
23:35And then other people go, oh, yeah, I get that.
23:36Yeah.
23:37The best job.
23:38So you were CID, do you say?
23:39Yeah.
23:40It was all I knew, really.
23:40And, you know, it wasn't a great experience or the circumstances when I left.
23:46I got run over.
23:46Did I say that?
23:47Not by a police car?
23:48No, by a bad man.
23:50Oh, right, OK.
23:51I don't talk about it now.
23:52Yeah, no, cool.
23:52But my kids are older.
23:53I've got two boys.
23:54They're 22 and 25.
23:55Yeah.
23:56And they're doing their thing.
23:57And, you know, I've got a whole life ahead of me.
24:00And I can either sit in and wait till I die, or I can get out there and go and
24:05find out
24:05what's going on in the world.
24:07I do get lonely.
24:08I've got to get a grip of things because I need to be with a man who lets me be
24:14me
24:15and celebrates me being me.
24:18I don't like being on my own.
24:19Don't you?
24:20No, I'm a people person and I'm a looker afterer.
24:22And I want somebody that's going to show me a little bit of attention.
24:26I've got a lot of love to give.
24:27Yeah, you can see that.
24:28Yeah.
24:29I like being in a couple.
24:31If I'm at a party and I'm the only one dancing, I don't want somebody that's going to hide
24:36in shame that their woman's on the dance floor.
24:38I want them to be the one clapping or up there dancing with me.
24:41Someone that cheers me on and celebrates my quirkiness and loves me for that.
24:48You're a ray of sunshine.
24:49It's a lovely thing to say.
24:50I know you walk into a room and everyone looks around.
24:52Oh, stop it.
24:54Don't make me cry.
24:55Why does that mean to cry?
24:58It's a nice thing to say.
25:03I like being in a relationship.
25:05What's the things you like about it?
25:07See, if you're in a relationship, you've got somebody to offload onto.
25:11You know, I want to be in love and cook and, like, chop carrots together and stuff.
25:15So you're a good cook as well then?
25:16Oh, I love cooking.
25:18Oh, don't you think dancing in the kitchen is really sexy?
25:20Well, it depends how big your kitchen is.
25:21How big's your kitchen?
25:22I've only got a little one.
25:23Have you?
25:24Kitchen.
25:26Plenty of work surface, don't worry.
25:27So, how big is yours?
25:29Kerry, you're a one.
25:31You're a one, you are.
25:32You are a one.
25:41It's Gerald.
25:42Here we go.
25:42Hello, my love.
25:43With his passionate kiss.
25:45Beautiful.
25:46I hope you enjoy your screws.
25:49And your passionate kisses.
25:51Do you want to get a passionate kiss, Gerald?
25:52Oh.
25:53Come on.
25:53I mean, I would.
25:55I would, I would, I would.
25:57Oh, right back at you.
25:59There we go.
26:00There you go.
26:02Thanks.
26:03I've been Andy, actually.
26:09How old are the cats?
26:10Colin's birthday is at the end of March, so it's in like the next few days.
26:14OK.
26:14I need to get my cake.
26:15What?
26:16Oh, no.
26:16Cat-friendly cake?
26:17Yeah.
26:17Then I put number one candle on his cake.
26:20I've got a video I'll have to show you.
26:22OK.
26:24They're literally, like, attached to me.
26:26Do they go in your bed?
26:27Yeah.
26:28Do they?
26:29But they don't sleep with me.
26:30Do they moult?
26:31No.
26:32I mean, I do have a lip roller.
26:33Yeah, but...
26:35Good to know.
26:35It is.
26:37I've saved a car at work before, you know.
26:39See ya.
26:41Have you been a firefighter for, like, a year?
26:43Yeah, yeah.
26:44Yeah, yeah.
26:44What did you do before?
26:45Erm, I used to play football.
26:48So it was, like, football your job?
26:50Yeah.
26:50Yeah, I did.
26:51Ten years at City, two years at United, and then two years at Leicester.
26:55Oh, wow.
26:56I played football from a very young age because I've got two older brothers and my dad played
27:00football, so football was always on the TV in our house.
27:03My brothers would play on the street and shove me in the net, and that's literally how
27:08football became, like, a passion of mine and a love of mine.
27:11I loved being on the grass.
27:13I loved putting my boots on.
27:14I loved kicking the ball around.
27:16So was you like, I don't really get football?
27:19Were you, like, signed?
27:20Do you know football?
27:22Signed.
27:22The World Cup in France represented England, which was the highlight of my career, for
27:27sure.
27:28You got in the stadium, you're singing the national anthem, which was incredible.
27:31Looking up and your mum, dad, your brother, like, my partner at the time was in the stadium,
27:35and you're like, whoa, this is, like, magic.
27:39Erm, I broke my leg about two and a half years ago.
27:41Right.
27:42The surgeon basically said that you won't play football again, so...
27:44had to sign off football.
27:47It ended my career, which was heartbreaking.
27:53I'm going to get upset now.
27:55Erm, sorry.
28:03It took me a while to accept it.
28:05I tried so hard to come back to football.
28:07It was a passion and a love, and I miss it.
28:09But I've had the best time doing it.
28:12Aw, it's a shame you broke your leg, but at least you have a good job now.
28:16Yeah.
28:16Tell you what, I live right next to Ellen Road Stadium.
28:19Oh, do you really?
28:19Are you a Leeds fan?
28:20If I had to be a fan of football, then it would be Leeds.
28:23All right, shall I leave now?
28:30OK.
28:32Oh.
28:33Emergency.
28:35Dr. Kenny is searching for the cure to her lonely heart.
28:39I'm like a social media docfluencer.
28:42I talk all about embarrassing body issues.
28:45The more embarrassing, the better.
28:47In-grown hairs, sagging skin, chicken skin, bum with tons of acne on it.
28:52Nothing phases me at all, but blind dates, I haven't done before.
29:03You're Kimi, right?
29:04Yeah, yeah.
29:04Tell me, what kind of man are you looking for?
29:07So cheesy, but I'm just looking for, like, a lovely heart.
29:11A kind soul, no stress.
29:14I've had a lot of, like, miserable experiences, I can't lie.
29:18I feel like I just attract the F boy, but I'm a hopeless romantic.
29:23I need the flowers, I need all the affection.
29:26I'm a doctor on the outside, but on the inside, I'm like a pure lover girl.
29:30So now I would just love, like, a sweetheart.
29:33A marshmallow.
29:34A marshmallow.
29:35Yeah.
29:35OK.
29:36Yeah.
29:37You want to be in love.
29:38I would love to be in love.
29:39I've just got a good feeling that something is around the corner.
29:42Hopefully today.
29:43The butterflies have been ordered.
29:45Thank God.
29:45Thank you so much.
29:49Digital nomad Alec is a software engineer hoping to hack the algorithm for love.
29:54There's certain girls out there who love a nerd.
29:56Some people like a guy who can solve a Rubik's cube fairly quickly.
30:02You're kind of a hot nerd.
30:04Am I a hot nerd?
30:05Oh, thanks.
30:06I appreciate that.
30:08That's like shabby chic.
30:09Hot nerd.
30:12I can see you looking very happy.
30:13I'm always happy.
30:14Are you?
30:15Pleasure to meet you.
30:16Pleasure to meet you, Alec.
30:16Have you got something up your sleeve to impress your days?
30:19I can juggle.
30:20I'll give you some lemons.
30:22I've always been a slightly hopeless romantic.
30:24I think that's really nice to have that kinship with just one person.
30:27The most basic things just become incredible.
30:30I wish we could feel like that forever.
30:32Voila.
30:33Hello there.
30:34Oh, hi.
30:35Nice to meet you.
30:36What's your name?
30:37I'm Kemi.
30:37Hi, Kemi.
30:38Alec.
30:39Pleasure to meet you.
30:40Pleasure to meet you too.
30:41What can I get you?
30:42Zero percent beer would be fantastic.
30:44Sure.
30:45How's it going?
30:46I didn't have an alcoholic drink either.
30:48Do you not normally drink or is that just...
30:49Oh no, I drink a lot.
30:51Okay.
30:52My stomach was a bit nervous.
30:53High pressure situation, eh?
30:55Yeah, it is, it is.
30:56Well, do you know what?
30:57We're in the same boat together.
30:58Where are you coming from?
30:59So, at the moment I live in East Sussex.
31:01Okay.
31:01But I'm from London.
31:03Oh, nice.
31:03So I grew up in Bromley.
31:04Oh, I'm from Croydon.
31:05You know the IKEA with those big funnels?
31:07Yeah.
31:08Yeah, that's what my dad used to do.
31:09I used to work in IKEA.
31:10That particular IKEA.
31:11No way!
31:12And it was actually...
31:13Yeah, that was me every single day.
31:15Like every day.
31:16Honestly.
31:20When's your birthday?
31:21November.
31:22November of what?
31:2421st.
31:24Shut your face.
31:25Why?
31:26When's your birthday?
31:27November.
31:28When?
31:2821st.
31:29Oh, shut up.
31:30I swear in my life.
31:31Where are we going to go for our birthday?
31:33Oh, I don't know.
31:34New York.
31:36Honestly, it was like innuendo bingo.
31:38As a tennis coach, it was like...
31:39We were just throwing them over the net to each other.
31:42And it was fun.
31:43I've had an amazing sight.
31:46Brilliant.
31:47Did I fancy him?
31:48All right, did I fancy him?
31:50Yeah, he's hot.
31:51Go on then.
31:55Yeah, he just got that really nice aura about him.
31:58Yeah, definitely fancied him.
32:00Yeah, without a doubt.
32:00I can't get over it.
32:01We've got the same birthday.
32:02And you have the same birthday?
32:02Exactly the same day.
32:05Hiya.
32:06Hello.
32:06You all right?
32:07You're thinking.
32:10Hi.
32:12Grab your coat.
32:14You're cold.
32:16Would you like to see each other again?
32:21Do you want to go first or shall I?
32:23You go first.
32:24Okay.
32:26I've had a wonderful time.
32:28You're amazing.
32:28I think it's been great.
32:30We've had a lot of laughs.
32:31So much in common.
32:32All my days.
32:33Same birthday as well.
32:3421st.
32:35What's the odds?
32:36Unbelievable.
32:38Yeah, I think I'd like to see you again, but I don't think, for me, I think we're on slightly
32:45different trajectories with where we're at in our romantic lives at the moment.
32:51But I'd love to take you out for a game of tennis and show you how the place.
32:53Oh, for sure.
32:54I'll come up to Essex.
32:55We could go, faulty love.
32:57Faulty love.
32:58Faulty love.
32:59Thank you for the flowers.
33:00Let me go.
33:01There you go.
33:01Oh.
33:02Stop it.
33:03Careful on the stairs.
33:04Careful on the stairs.
33:05Come on.
33:05Come on.
33:06Here she goes.
33:07Out of control.
33:08Had a lovely time.
33:08They've given me faith.
33:09Back in men.
33:10There are good ones out there.
33:12Yeah.
33:12Do you want to hold my hand?
33:13Yeah, go on.
33:13Go on.
33:14Go on.
33:15There you go.
33:16There you go.
33:17There you go.
33:19There you go.
33:24Lovely.
33:24Thanks for paying for the meal, but I'm now going to take you out and get you drunk.
33:29Don't be slipping anything in my drink.
33:33Oh!
33:34Okay.
33:34You were the goat's cheese, right?
33:35Yeah, thank you.
33:36And the nourish bowl.
33:37Thank you very much.
33:39I wanted to think about what I was eating because I didn't want to, like, get it all down
33:42me.
33:43Oh, you'll be fine.
33:43Don't worry.
33:46So, like, are you happy being single?
33:49Yeah.
33:50I'm happy, like...
33:51You feel like it doesn't bother you?
33:51Yeah.
33:52No, like, don't be wrong.
33:53I'm ready to, like, meet somebody.
33:54What about you?
33:55Erm, well, I've been single for two years now.
33:59What was your past relationships?
34:01So, my last relationship lasted for, like, over a year.
34:05We just seemed to be getting along.
34:07And I don't know if it was, like, an age thing.
34:08Because she was...
34:10A bit younger.
34:10No, older, actually.
34:12Okay.
34:13She's 60.
34:15Are you joking?
34:19You are joking.
34:21Why did you read me so well?
34:23She's definitely not 60.
34:26No.
34:27She was, like, ten years older than me.
34:29What was your longest relationship?
34:31Erm, my longest lasted about three years.
34:33Oh, well.
34:35My mental health went great and it kind of, like, messed it up.
34:37What is it with your mental health?
34:39Am I allowed to ask?
34:39No, no, no, it's fine.
34:40It's more, like, anxiety...
34:42Okay.
34:42..than anything.
34:43I've suffered with it from being, like, probably, like,
34:45all my life, basically.
34:46But I'm in the best place that I've ever been now,
34:49which is why I'm here as well.
34:52I am, like, a pretty chill person now,
34:53but I feel like I'd be even better
34:56if I had someone to balance me out, sort of thing.
34:59But I've made the mistake three times in the past
35:01of rushing into relationships
35:02and I'm not going to do that any more.
35:04Because you're rushing it,
35:05you don't really know the person fully, do you?
35:07Yeah.
35:07I need someone to be open and honest
35:09and communicate with me.
35:12Yeah.
35:12What about if you, like...
35:14So I've been single for about just over a year.
35:17Yeah.
35:17It wasn't my decision to break up with my ex.
35:23When I changed my job,
35:25I went through a little bit of a hard time
35:26and we just couldn't figure it out
35:28and then I drank a little bit too much,
35:30was a bit of an arsehole, not going to lie.
35:31But we all learned from those mistakes.
35:32Oh, yeah, 100%, yeah, yeah.
35:35Like, the next person I get with,
35:36I kind of want to, like,
35:38know that I want to marry that person as well.
35:40Like, that's it.
35:41I can't be bothered any more.
35:43It takes a lot for someone to understand
35:45how I am as a person, so...
35:47I want someone that can get me
35:48so I can be my true self.
35:55I prefer to be sat here, like, talking the truth
35:57than being like...
35:58Exactly.
35:59..you're perfect.
35:59Yeah.
36:00I like that.
36:00I'm very honest, by the way.
36:01Oh, yeah, good.
36:02Sometimes it can be a bad thing.
36:04Good.
36:05Sometimes it's a good thing.
36:06I'll take it, cos you told me you've got nice teeth, so...
36:10Was that the first thing you looked at when you walked in?
36:12Yeah.
36:13I don't know why, but I always look at teeth and hands.
36:15Oh, OK.
36:15I just look at your hands.
36:17Amazing.
36:18Do my hands fall?
36:22What do you, like, what do you think,
36:24when you feel like you've got a connection with someone,
36:26what does that feel like for you?
36:28Erm, it's...
36:29It's a weird sense, but you can always feel it.
36:32So, like, hypothetically, if I was on a date now
36:36and I had a connection,
36:38or accidentally, like, touching feet underneath the table,
36:40I feel like cos you're trying to get closer to each other.
36:43Is that what you do on the first date?
36:44You're touching one's feet?
36:46No, like...
36:47If there's fatigue going on, they're getting connected.
36:53All right, lovely people.
36:54My God, we're so bad.
36:55I'm ready. Have you not?
36:57I could probably go now.
36:59I could pick a hand.
37:00You know what?
37:01I'll go for the salon's sake.
37:02Could I please go for the sea bath?
37:05Okay.
37:06I always want what someone else gets.
37:08I'm that way too.
37:10Thank you so much.
37:11Okay, perfect.
37:12So, what do you do?
37:14I work as a hospital doctor.
37:16Wow!
37:17What kind of medicine you practice?
37:18General medicine.
37:19Okay.
37:20But it's, like, hospital general medicine.
37:21I love that.
37:23But actually, I'm leaving the hospital life.
37:27Okay.
37:27Like, I think a lot of people don't realise, like,
37:29being a doctor is, like...
37:32Hard and difficult and...
37:34Yeah.
37:34Yeah, yeah, yeah.
37:35Like, it's starting to be really tough on me.
37:38I'm quite, like, jaded now.
37:41Especially when you work in a hospital.
37:43Like, you see all aspects of life,
37:46which can be truly sad.
37:49I've started to realise I'm really struggling.
37:52And it's, like, intense.
37:53And I feel like it's a lot of responsibility.
37:57Sure.
37:57Yeah.
37:58I mean, no one dies when I make mistakes in my job.
38:01I'm, like, really, like, ready to step into something completely different.
38:04So, I have a start-up, which is what I'm doing now, yeah.
38:07What's that?
38:08What's that involved?
38:09Kind of, like, awkward and embarrassing body care concerns.
38:12Wow.
38:13I secretly love it, which is so gross.
38:15No one gets it.
38:17Yeah.
38:17Now that I quit my job as a doctor,
38:20I've got time to date, time to meet people.
38:22And I think this is the year that I'm going to find love, definitely.
38:25I just, there's a feeling in the air.
38:27It's all about, like, just kind of getting out of your awkward era.
38:31Those things that people don't say out loud kind of thing.
38:34Okay.
38:34That's, like, the whole energy behind it.
38:35That's some really cool branding.
38:36Yeah.
38:37And it's, like, I'm really excited, you know,
38:39I feel like I'm finally, like, not to sound, like, really cringe,
38:42but, like, living my dreams in a way.
38:44Yeah, yeah, for sure.
38:44I feel like I'm finally doing the thing that I was always supposed to do.
38:47Um, I actually don't have a degree.
38:50Okay.
38:51So, um, I did go to uni, but I dropped out.
38:56Mm-hmm.
39:08Calm it down.
39:09How red is my face, by the way?
39:11A little bit red.
39:12Why is it so red?
39:16I've had my date.
39:18She's a really nice girl, actually.
39:21What can I ask her?
39:22What good questions can I ask her?
39:24I've done the holidays.
39:25Yeah, I've done the holidays.
39:27I've done the meals.
39:30Yeah, like, with Ivy, I think, like, we've got a lot in common.
39:33Do you know what, though, Janey?
39:35She doesn't like cars.
39:46I hope things are going well.
39:48Yeah.
39:48Nice happening.
39:49We never know.
39:50The vibe feels good.
39:52Yeah.
39:52Which is always a good thing.
39:54I don't want to, like, give too much away, though.
39:56I'm like...
39:56That's right.
39:56No, no, no.
39:57Gotta keep my cars close to my chair.
39:58Keep the car, you know?
40:00Yeah.
40:01For sure.
40:01Perfect.
40:02Good stuff.
40:02Your food should be ready in moments.
40:04In moments.
40:05Fantastic.
40:06Perfect.
40:07When I went to the bathroom, I pretty much nearly ended leaving the restaurant.
40:13I just went the wrong way.
40:16For a second, I thought you were, like...
40:18No, no.
40:18I just went the wrong way.
40:20Okay, that's fine.
40:22When I said moments, I meant moments.
40:24That was so quick.
40:26Thank you very much.
40:27You're very welcome.
40:30So, what is your job like?
40:31So, I'm a software engineer.
40:33Oh, amazing.
40:34So, I'm self-taught.
40:35I'm a little bit ADHD.
40:37Yeah.
40:37So, I kind of struggled with, like, university.
40:40Mm-hmm.
40:40So, I was...
40:41But I can, like, hyper-focus on really specific things.
40:44Yeah.
40:44I used to work for Meta.
40:46What was Meta like as well?
40:47It was good.
40:48Got to go to Silicon Valley a few times.
40:50It's so amazing that you did it all by yourself as well.
40:53Like, self-taught.
40:54Yeah.
40:54It's, like, my proudest thing.
40:56I love that.
40:57That's so cool.
40:58It was hard, but I can't imagine really doing anything else.
41:01Most of my relationships have gone downhill because I've focused a bit too much on work
41:06and not giving them as much of my time, which is something I'd love to apply to a new relationship.
41:12All my relationships kind of dropped off the table because I've been traveling around so much.
41:18I've been alone for three years now, and I think it would be nice to have someone in my life
41:22to share experiences with.
41:24I would definitely hang up my digital nomad shoes to the right person.
41:27I'd like to come back to London.
41:29Oh, amazing.
41:30Settle down a little bit.
41:31Do you want children?
41:32Oh, yeah, for sure.
41:34Yeah.
41:34I just don't know, like, when it would happen, but I would love to.
41:37Yeah.
41:38I have a dream of, like, two girls.
41:40Yeah?
41:41Okay.
41:42You're going to plan that out.
41:43I planned it, yeah.
41:44Everyone says to me you'd be a really good dad.
41:46Yeah, I can tell you're a softie.
41:48Me?
41:48Yeah.
41:49A softie?
41:49Yeah.
41:59Have you had, like, braces?
42:01I've got a metal bar there on my teeth.
42:02Have you?
42:03Yeah.
42:03Like a fixed brace?
42:04Can you tell?
42:04I can't tell.
42:05I can't see it, but your teeth look straight.
42:07Yeah, I've got a...
42:08You don't understand how happy I am, though, that you've got a nice set of teeth.
42:11I just want someone that's got good oral health, at least.
42:14Do you get all your mates discounts, though?
42:16So, if I want to come to the dentist, I'm fucking in.
42:19I can get you on NHS.
42:21That's right.
42:22I'm actually, like, a really thoughtful person, so I'm actually...
42:24Are you really?
42:24Yeah.
42:25But I'm also really bad at flirting, so...
42:26Are you really?
42:29Yeah.
42:30I don't know how to do it.
42:32Are you?
42:33You put yourself down a bit, don't you?
42:35Do I?
42:36Yeah, a lot of bit.
42:36People do say that.
42:40Yeah, it went pretty well.
42:43I was very relieved, because I'm so attracted to her, for starters.
42:47I liked how, like, she was so open, and told me about her past struggles and stuff, and just vibed.
42:53Like, there were just no awkward silences.
42:54It was just very smooth.
42:57Hopefully she likes me back.
43:06Bit your own finger.
43:13Would you like to see each other again?
43:16Go first.
43:17You go first.
43:18Go on.
43:19Ladies first.
43:19Ladies first, go.
43:20Are you not a lady?
43:21Yeah, I am.
43:22You're not a lady.
43:24Yeah, I'd like to see you again.
43:26Yeah, same.
43:27Somewhere closer to Manchester, I'll leave next.
43:29Yeah.
43:30Bit of a trek to Bath.
43:33I'll get this, please, if that's okay.
43:35It's fine.
43:36I want to pay that.
43:37I promise you.
43:38I'm happy to pay it.
43:39No.
43:42I'm not going to lie, the crazy cat lady was a little red flag, but I think you've changed
43:46it to green, so I'll let you off.
43:47Yeah.
43:48I mean, I'll make you like my cats.
43:51I think you will.
43:52I'll stroke Colin and Lily.
43:54Don't worry.
43:54Bye-bye.
43:54Thank you, bye-bye.
43:55Bye-bye.
43:56You too.
43:58Can we go to the Irish pub yet?
44:04So do you have any hobbies or anything?
44:06I have some really unusual hobbies.
44:08Tell me.
44:09I'm really good at juggling.
44:10Juggling?
44:11Yeah.
44:12Okay.
44:12I'm really good at solving a Rubik's Cube.
44:14Okay, really?
44:15It's really odd.
44:16I have all these odd hobbies that aren't useful in the real world.
44:19Yeah.
44:21Brad said he would give you lemons.
44:22That you can juggle.
44:24Thank you for lemons.
44:25And here are lemons.
44:26All right.
44:26Watch this lemon in someone's soup.
44:30I think she's an attractive girl.
44:33And super smart.
44:34I love an intellectual conversation.
44:35I love people who are driving.
44:43Hello again.
44:44How's it going?
44:45How's it going?
44:46Now, if she doesn't fall in love with you...
44:49I mean, I don't know what she needs.
44:50No, right?
44:51Did you check his pulse?
44:52I can check his pulse.
44:55Let's have it.
44:55Go on.
44:56Let's see.
44:57Is it there?
44:58Am I still breathing?
44:59It's definitely there.
45:01Would you like to see each other go?
45:05Go?
45:06I'll let you go.
45:07I think it would be nice.
45:09I think it would be nice to see you in a different setting.
45:12Yeah.
45:12I'd love to see.
45:13Yay.
45:15Happy days.
45:17It's probably going to accelerate a little bit now.
45:19It's not accelerating.
45:19Cool as a cucumber.
45:20Yeah.
45:20Very good.
45:21Cool, calm and collected.
45:23I love a nerd.
45:24Yeah.
45:25A nerd is 10 on 10.
45:26Free that door.
45:27Okay.
45:27And we're done.
45:28You've hit a jackpot.
45:33The reboot skewer would like to know how to do that.
45:35Just flip around.
45:36Oh my god.
45:37Like this way.
45:37And then you're back this way.
45:39And then it's just learning the algorithms and then you're...
45:41That's crazy.
45:42You're away.
45:44You like Harry Potter?
45:45I'm a huge Potter.
45:46I love Potter.
45:47Really?
45:47I have no shame in admitting it.
45:49Shame!
45:59Say love me, leave me, let me be lonely.
46:02You won't believe me but I love you only.
46:05I'd rather be lonely than happy with somebody else.
46:10There's no love for nobody else.
