00:00A German mega-construction project set to deliver on schedule?
00:03Frankfurt Airport has nailed it.
00:05Its new Terminal 3 is ready after 10 years of construction, as planned.
00:10Cost?
00:114 Billion Euros, as planned.
00:13That's not a given for large-scale projects here in Germany and elsewhere.
00:17And that despite crisis from the Covid-19 pandemic to the war in Ukraine, both of which
00:22disrupted supply chains, making construction steel scarce.
00:25Up to 19 million passengers are expected to pass through the new Terminal 3.
00:30An increase of 50% for Frankfurt International.
00:33But does it work?
00:34Well, that's what thousands of test passengers are currently trying to find out before the
00:38official opening on April 23.
00:40So far a total of 8000 on 36 test days.
00:44Their luggage is transported along 13 kilometers of conveyor belts, computer-controlled, so that
00:49every suitcase finds its way to the right plane.
00:51For once, Germany's reputation isn't just efficiency in theory, but also in practice.
