Transcript
00:00I mean, this really has been a week of firsts, hasn't it?
00:03I mean, Israel and Lebanon have held their first diplomatic exchange since, I think, the year 1993.
00:09That happened at an ambassadorial level on Tuesday.
00:13I mean, let's start by talking about that.
00:15How significant is dialogue at this level, do you think?
00:19I think it's very significant.
00:21It's obviously connected to what is happening between the United States and Iran.
00:26And, of course, the American president, of course, is very sympathetic to Israel's security needs,
00:31but apparently asked for de-escalation, which I think prompted Prime Minister Netanyahu
00:35to respond to a longstanding request by the Lebanese president to sit down
00:39and not try to iron out their differences with a ceasefire
00:42and then seeing what more can be done to disarm Hezbollah and beyond.
