00:08Northumbria police raided the premises on Ocean Road and dismantled the cannabis farm
00:12over the weekend.
00:13The sophisticated set-up contained more than 1,300 plants across three floors and was valued
00:21at around £700,000.
00:24Officers said they were tipped off by local residents who reported a strong smell coming
00:29from the building.
00:31They also said the electricity had been bypassed.
00:34Inspector David Herron said it was without doubt the largest cannabis farm found in South
00:40Tyneside in recent months and praised the public for reporting concerns.
