"My kitten, Mabel, discovered her shadow for the first time and tried to catch it," the filmer, Georgia, told WooGlobe.
In the clip, the kitten spots a dark shape on a wall and springs toward it, batting and hopping as the silhouette shifts.
She pounces and tracks the moving outline across the surface.
It is a small case of mistaken identity, with the lighting doing most of the work.
The moment was filmed in Gloucestershire, United Kingdom.
