00:16sorry you got voted out last night but it was in my opinion the best episode of the season so

00:25things uh it's always going to be a recipe for a fun polarizing uh night so yeah i mean i'm

00:34that i that i got voted out but at the same time you know it's destiny and destiny above all
00:39as the
00:39saying goes i was supposed to go out you know i think the longer i went in the game maybe
00:44the more
00:44i would have uh tarnished my legacy you never know and so i'm glad to be a part of the
00:49season joyous
00:50of a of a celebration of you know just like one big victory lap i went out there without anything
00:56to prove i went out there writing in my journal beforehand you know this is one big victory lap
01:02and i felt that to be successful on this season maybe i had to win but after the first day
01:08i'm like
01:08that's not it this season is about healing this season is about realizing that yeah the fans and
01:13the players love me and and i i have made a mark on this game you have across all four
01:18seasons you have
01:19this one included of course um in tribal before devins obviously pulls out the fake idol how did
01:24you feel in terms of the way the vote was going to go did you feel like you and chrissy
01:27were safe
01:29you know chrissy came up to me late in the day and she said coach i i think i screwed
01:33up i did what
01:33you did yesterday i played really aggressive and i'm like oh gosh we must be sunk now but i still
01:39think we had a 50 50 shot going into tribal and um i felt like you know it was good
01:46about the numbers
01:46i'm sure that sari also had conversations that said let's do coach next week you know like so
01:52that's always you know we're catching just a fraction of the conversation but during tribal
01:57when rick grabbed that idol you know it swayed it just enough if we were going into tribal 50 50
02:02then
02:02it became 60 40 if we were coming into tribal 60 40 then it became 70 30 and so you
02:08know i knew in
02:08that moment that we could be in trouble and that's why i played my shot in the dark yeah and
02:13we saw
02:14steph and joe specifically ended up flipping like you said because of the shenanigans with rick's
02:18idol how did you feel about those two people ultimately voting against you instead of with
02:22you well no you know like it is what it is i voted again i voted colby but it doesn't
02:26mean that i
02:26wanted him out you know it's like you don't want to be on the wrong side of the numbers which
02:30makes
02:30you know jonathan sticking by his word um pretty epic right i mean that was pretty epic that he said
02:39i
02:39don't care what the votes are this is how i'm gonna vote and so it it didn't surprise me at
02:43the
02:43end and uh there's no there's no uh hard feelings about that i assume when you guys were out there
02:49you were not aware of the suri ozzy rizzo trio what's your kind of response watching that back
02:54now and seeing those three being highlighted as much as they are yeah i mean hats off to them
02:59ozzy's playing a strategic game he's never done that in his life so you know like it's pretty awesome
03:04um to see that and and when when i it explained a lot yeah it explained a lot when i
03:11when i watched
03:12that and so yeah it's a good trio yeah do you feel better about your relationship with ozzy now that
03:19you guys have ended this season 50 chapter compared to when season 23 came to an end because i know

03:24guys were not on good terms after south pacific yeah i i regret calling him a whiny little b when
03:29i
03:30when i did on my interviews um ozzy's been through his own personal struggles right he said he's he's
03:36come face to face with that and talked about it openly um we're like brothers you know good times
03:42bad times love each other hate each other um i i i i owe him a thank you for telling
03:51me the very first
03:52day and he meant it that i thought i should have won south pacific like that was magnanimous of him
03:57to do and then of course it went south you know hour later um but it is what it is
04:02we're in a great
04:02spot now in fact he and i have talked uh multiple times since the show wrapped up and just you
04:08know
04:08and i actually said to him that comment about being brothers and he was like yeah man i left it
04:12in a
04:12long voice text that he could get the true sentiment of it and he was like yeah you're right it
04:17really is
04:17it really is like that was it very much your goal to kind of stick with old school and try
04:22to get that
04:23whole group like the pre-new era group uh as far as you could you chrissy steph like was that
04:28very
04:28much your plan going into the season you know my my plan into the season was was actually to keep
04:34my
04:34options open ben catsman said something to me right before i left you like just always keep your options
04:38open um and so i had amassed a huge army you know camilla i mean i'm camilla's favorite player we
04:46were
04:46like had an amazing connection she told me that i got it camilla to me you're her fave yeah i
04:53mean
04:53like we were thick uh mike white and i great relationship uh charlie and i great relationship
05:00uh angelina and i we can do each other back and forth um we had talked briefly just about her
05:06leaving her child at home and uh and you know it's like we had a great bond as well and
05:11i'm watching
05:11this huge army that i've amassed and no rhyme or reason it's not like somebody's saying this is a huge
05:16alliance it's just there's a lot of luck in survivor and so i'm watching that just get get
05:21picked off one by one i thought that for me you know going in the ultimate would be to have
05:26somebody
05:27like camilla somebody like kyle somebody like colby right the three sounding names and uh i just made
05:34that up right there but uh yeah i thought you know like those people that would be great because
05:38you've got somebody strategic like camilla and you've got somebody that's old school like colby
05:42and you've got somebody that's you know uh magnanimous and also gregarious like uh like
05:48kyle so i that was kind of like what i was looking for but those got stripped away uh and
05:53then i got
05:53kind of pigeonholed into hoping that people would just play uh that older school game i didn't set out
05:59to be that but when i had those cards dealt it's like at the merge what am i going to
06:03do all right
06:03emily let's go to the end you know and i wasn't like trying to promise a lot of people that
06:07like i have
06:08in past seasons i did make a few promises but i think the main thing on this one was not
06:12making
06:13promises that i couldn't keep uh down the stretch and that's what integrity is all about i you know
06:18people give me a lot of flack for that and it comes out the wrong way it's the one commodity
06:22that i have
06:22out there i'm not a good challenge uh you know beast i'm not a strategic player and so what i
06:28have
06:28the currency that i have which is what i got so upset about ozzy for saying that i agreed to
06:33not take
06:33the key was that that's my currency and you're devaluing it but when i talk about integrity i
06:38mean obviously i've got messy obviously i messed up obviously you know tiffany asks me well who said
06:44my name and i'm just such a bad liar and i'm just like uh my wife's like last night she
06:48was like did
06:48you really just pause like that that makes you look so bad i said i did but i'm not a
06:52good liar but
06:52it's like look i have that commodity right but the integrity is going into a vote and sticking by what
07:01i tell people i've never ever yeah gone and do a vote and done what i wasn't going to say
07:06i was
07:07going to do and so that's what i mean when i talk about honor and integrity i'm sorry i didn't
07:11mean
07:11to pontificate you're good yeah no i appreciate what you're saying because obviously there is a
07:15lot of talk about are you playing with honor integrity are you not so i appreciate you kind
07:18of clearing the air on that um another thing to clear the air on is there's been so much talk
07:22about
07:22the zoom alliance were you in a zoom alliance was there a zoom was it a phone call what what's
07:27your
07:28kind of response and reaction to all that yeah i mean i think it's kind of sad there's been made
07:32a big deal because it's like if i were to say hey man the sky is blue you're not going
07:35to report on
07:36that in a returning player season is there going to be talk pre-game of course there is uh you
07:41know
07:41did i talk to people absolutely um there were i i think that there was a facetime between a few
07:48people but guess what i've got an android i don't even do facetime so your hands your hands are clean
07:53you weren't involved in that yeah and actually it was funny because that day that i got mad
07:59and i'm talking about nobody's going to win this game with you know with without honor integrity i
08:03was actually referring in part to people talking about that and about how somebody just made up
08:10that there was this you know the zoom alliance or whatever so anyway i you know i mean i think
08:16it's
08:16kind of a waste of time to talk about it i mean when uh you know d said she talked
08:19to rizzo
08:20before reminding me of when poverty talked to rizzo before season 20 you know there's always
08:24shady stuff going on beforehand and people are going to reach out and try to feel if there's
08:27that comfort zone to other people i tried to you know minimize my talks before the game but it also
08:34is very comforting you don't want to screw yourself by going out there and not having talked to anybody
08:38i'm very aloof and very elusive i don't do events you know i haven't done a survivor event
08:44for 16 years until i started doing the rock shows with ben i don't do events and so like i'm
08:49not
08:50connected with people out there and so for me to feel a level of comfortability and talking to
08:55to some people before the game yeah you know that's great what do you think about i don't know if
09:00you've
09:00seen this but twitter says has been calling that group the maga alliance do you have a reaction to
09:04that no i think it's funny right i mean people are always going to grasp at straws um i wrote
09:10in my
09:10name in the last election i put up with coach ben wade and checked the box for myself um do
09:15i think
09:15that you know trump's doing a great job with our country hell no um you know so people can say
09:20what
09:20they want to um i don't pay attention to that my my total time last week on social media i'd
09:25like to
09:25challenge everybody in america and the world to to match my time was 28 minutes on social media for
09:30the entire week i think if everybody spent 20 minutes on social media we'd be in a hell of a
09:35lot
09:35better place than we are right now i need to learn from that that's actually a good lesson to take
09:39from
09:40this chat is just to be on social media less i think i think everyone of all ages actually should
09:44take
09:44something from that i'll tell you what i'll tell you what you know just since we're talking about
09:48it i changed um uh several years ago it's actually during covid um and it's a gift i'll give to
09:55anybody that wants to listen to it um and that is i was getting caught up on my phone and
10:00stressing
10:00about things and and so i said you know what the 15 minutes before i go to bed i'm going
10:04to put my
10:05phone in the other room and the first 15 minutes when i wake up i'm going to leave it in
10:08that room and
10:09at night i sit there and instead of making a list for tomorrow and stressing about things
10:13i say two good things that happen during the day and i make my kids say it as well and
10:17what happens
10:17is the synapses in your brain fuse together differently during your REM sleep and so you
10:22actually wake up with a better attitude you wake up more positive and then the 15 minutes before my
10:27day starts i have uh i read some scripture it doesn't matter what you believe in look up a quote
10:32of the day look up scripture look up whatever i read scripture i pray and i meditate and so in
10:37the
10:38afternoon i'm freaking crushing like there's no stress there's no joy i mean there's no stress
10:43there's no anger there's no any of this other stuff that the world feels it's joy it's kindness
10:47it's love it's like that's what we've been born with that magic right but then we get beat out of
10:51us
10:51first 15 minutes of your day actually patterns your brain scientifically as to what's going to happen
10:57physiologically and so those that 30 minutes has changed my life and i i encourage anybody to just
11:02take 15 minutes a night and 15 minutes in the morning and uh it'll change it'll change you for
11:08sure i'm gonna start replicating that tomorrow coach i swear you may have inspired me here and
11:12just before we got to wrap up just before we go do you feel at peace with your survivor journey
11:16i mean
11:17four seasons you've had a hell of a run do you feel good to close a chapter are you still
11:21hoping that
11:22there's more to come for your survivor journey yeah man i'm ready to go another 30 minutes with you man

11:37think that you know like yeah i'm at peace with it you know regret is a wasted emotion i could
11:41have
11:41done things differently um but you know what a blessing and a joy uh to be on season 50 right
11:48what an honor and to know that there's going to be 16 people that you don't remember from this season
11:52but i'm not one of them it makes me feel like i've won when somebody comes up to me and
11:57they don't
11:57know me and they don't know survivor and they're like oh well sorry i've never watched did you win
12:02and i said yeah i did i've won all four seasons so you know i feel like i have been
12:07really blessed
12:08uh in the producer's eyes i would watch coach 5.0 and i think many people would we'll say we'll
12:16say
12:17i told jeff and matt both yeah do not ask me to come on the show again man i but
12:22they're like
12:23my parents you you know you want to please your parents and so when they call it's just like
12:27it's casting calls i'm not interested no i'm not interested but when one of those two calls
12:33i'm just like ah and i really did tell them i said please don't ever ask me back again and
12:38they're like
12:38oh season 70. they have a way of sweet talking you apparently huh yeah coach thank you so much it
12:45was a pleasure chatting with you watching you and how we get to see you on the jury at least

12:49and let's i'm i'm hoping for some good fits that you pull out every wednesday you ready for this gq
12:55should do their spring wardrobe and mimic what i've got going on because it's going to be epic
