President Trump has announced a 10-day ceasefire in Lebanon after what he called "Excellent Conversations" with Lebanon's president and Isr-@-el's prime minister.
The truce takes effect at midnight Thursday. It will be followed by the first Isr-@-eli-Lebanese summit in decades, set to take place in Washington next week between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Joseph Aoun.
The deal is linked to parallel US-Ir-@-n peace negotiations. A Hezb-0-llah lawmaker said the group would respect the truce as long as Isr-@-el halts all hostilities. But key issues remain: Isr-@-el wants Hezb-0-llah disarmed; Lebanon demands full Isr-@-eli withdrawal from southern soil.
Meanwhile, Israeli bombing continued throughout Thursday's talks—striking an ambulance and blowing up the last bridge into the city of Tyre, cutting off 30,000 residents. In less than seven weeks, at least 2,196 people have been killed in Lebanon.
The Pentagon says a US naval force has turned back 13 vessels, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned Ir-@-n that US forces are "Locked and Loaded". Hegseth repeated Trump's threat to target Ir-@-n's energy industry.
The paths to peace in Lebanon and Ir-@-n remain interlinked—and fragile. 🕊️🇱🇧🇮🇱🇺🇸
