00:00Bob, why you do that to Mary Beth? I like Mary Beth, man.
00:04Come on, man.
00:05All she wanted you to do was get the right colors for the yarn.
00:09Romeo, do you see a lot of movies?
00:11Yes.
00:12Do you see, like, weapons and horror films?
00:15Yes.
00:16So here's the deal.
00:17You get how fun that kill is, right, with Mary Beth.
00:22See, I'm telling you something.
00:24I don't see a lot of horror films.
00:26And so some of the kills in this movie, Normal, you know, which were choreographed and built by both Derek
00:33Colstead, our writer, and Ben Wheatley, the director, they said they're like the movie Final Destination.
00:39Do you know that?
00:40Yeah.
00:40So I don't know that stuff.
00:42But poor Mary Beth.
00:44I think she went out the way she would choose to.
00:46Number one, Normal is not normal.
00:49That title is the opposite of the film.
00:53But number two, I got to call my partner Bob an action star.
00:56You're a whole action star now.
00:59Well, look, man, I've trained for years now, and I still go to the stunt gym.
01:03I was there last week twice.
01:05I go to the stunt gym.
01:06I train with Daniel Bernhardt, one of the great stunt actors in the world, has trained me for years now.
01:12Now, look, the stunt guys are way better than me, and they make me look good.
01:16But I can do basic stuff.
01:19I could show you, like, how to build a choreographed fight.
01:23I've learned enough now after three movies to feel some confidence doing it and to enjoy it even more.
01:29What did you like most about Normal?
01:31Because I noticed it goes from zero to 100 quick.
01:35But it's fluid in the motion.
01:37Like, every scene makes sense.
01:40Watching you guys from the bank on, I'm like, this is crazy.
01:45Like, was it the writing, or was it more of the action sequences that you fell in love with most?
01:52Well, it was the writing first.
01:53You know, your point is a good one, and I think your point indicating, too, this, the fact that the
01:59movie kind of has this, it's like this opening chapter that's really kind of sweet and kind of, like, comic
02:07and gentle almost.
02:09You know, this guy's tooling around town, he's talking to the townies, they're having really nonsensical arguments.
02:17He's noticing some things are not right, but he's kind of turning away from that.
02:22You know, they've got way too many guns in the police armory.
02:26They've got C4 explosive, which you should never have, ever.
02:29So it had these chapters to it that have different tones, and I like that a lot, because as an
02:36actor, the great joy is to have range, is to go play a quiet scene where you're doing, you know,
02:45sort of self-awareness is coming out, and you're sharing feelings or a story.
02:50And then, you know, two days later, you're doing a screen fight with guns and punching and stuff.
02:58I like that dynamic range, which this movie has tons of dynamic range.
03:04I mean, you know these scenes in the bar where he's confessing this horrible thing where he didn't handle his
03:11job right, and then, you know, whatever, 10 minutes later, shit's blowing up all around him.
03:17And so that's what attracted me first.
03:20But I've got to tell you, when you add the director into the mix, right, Ben Wheatley, who directed this,
03:27he envisions these scenes more fun and more, he's got a vision that's better than even what you read.
03:34And so it's like all the action is way more fun than even what I read.
03:39The way he built that world with Greg Rementer, our second unit director, and all the fun stuff that happens
03:46and the way people take each other out, that was just more comical and more entertaining than anything I ever
03:54envisioned.
03:55You never really know what you're going to get in the end.
03:58This movie is way more entertaining, funner than anything I imagined it would be.
04:09This movie is way more entertaining, funner than anything I imagined it would be.
04:10This movie is way moreindi.
04:10This movie is so fun and very wanting to anticipate that movie is the week that was going to be.
04:10And so it's like the movie is all good and a couple other things that I asked you today about
04:10Bismarck Solomon with.
