00:00I wanted to start with that karaoke cover of somebody I used to know because you both
00:03brushed it. And I know that's a hard song.
00:20So is that really the two of you singing? Did you have any input on what song that would be
00:24for
00:24that scene? I think no, we didn't. They had already picked the song. But I think Paul went in there
00:29and put a little auto-tune on his voice. A little. I put a little something on there.
00:34No, we were both very much singing. You went to the studio like, I don't know, a week before
00:38in this kind of little studio in Australia. Just sang the song and had a couple of hats.
00:43I will say though, like watching the movie, I've watched it once and the karaoke scene turned
00:49out really funny. I think it's because seeing his face, this sour face of like, I can't believe
00:55I have to do this shit. And then like kind of zooming or panning out to see my character
01:01is very much like ex-musical theater. He's relishing it. Like that juxtaposition is super
01:06funny, I think.
01:08Absolutely. I want to see the full song. Did you guys do the full song? I want to see
01:10that footage on the DVD or something.
01:12We did do the whole song.
01:13Probably. Yeah.
01:14Yeah.
01:14The scene where you guys are shoving condoms of cocaine into your mouth was making me gag.
01:19So I can only imagine what it was like to film. Can you both tell me about filming that?
01:23Mark said he didn't even have a gag reflex. He's just swallowed about five of those things
01:27and then he told him, slow down. He really enjoyed the scene from what I could tell.
01:31Yeah. He was just like, wah, wah, wah, wah. Like man, right down. He didn't even have
01:36a gag reflex, poor guy. That scene was very difficult.
01:39Mine's EGI. I didn't do any of that.
01:41That scene was very, very difficult actually because it's funny. So you want to laugh, but
01:46then also like you are, you are having to push that in pretty, uh, pretty deep, pretty deep.
01:55But then by the time we got to the raft, you were a pro.
01:59Yep. Yep. The scene with the fish retrieving it from, uh, well, I went a little method.
02:06No, I, we, we had, we had a lot of fun shooting those absurd scenes. The biggest hurdle is genuinely
02:14not laughing, especially in front of Sacha Baron Cohen. We have such a history of watching
02:18him and stuff. It's like almost surreal having Borat in your face, improvising. It's crazy.
02:23I wanted to bring that up because he has so much fun with pronunciation in this movie. And I was
02:27wondering if there was a word that really got both of you. For me, it was fuchi ball.
02:31I care about the fuchi ball. I don't give 15 shits about a fuchi ball. In fact.
02:38Fuchi ball. Yeah. Fuchi ball. There was a couple of other ones. The mass, the mass gravy.
02:44He would say the mass gravy instead of gravy. Yeah, the mass gravy. And then, uh, hollandaise.
02:50Hollandaise. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. When I'm trying to swallow the condom, he had, he had an
02:53improv where he's like, would you, would you like a condiment or whatever? And I'm like, I don't think
02:58it's the condiment that'll help. And then he goes, hollandaise sauce.
03:02I fully understand. Hollandaise?
03:05I think this is both your first time working with Peter Farrelly, right? So tell me about working
03:09with him, especially on kind of a classic Farrelly comedy like this.
03:13We had a lot of fun. I was doing, I was imitating Pete all the time to Paul.
03:19Oh my God. Getting direction.
03:21So bad. Because Pete would get very over exaggerated reads on something. He'd be like,
03:26you're looking at this crocodile and you're like, and then Mark would be behind two or three other
03:33people going, yeah, Paul. And I was like, oh God, it was so bad.
03:38Oh, he's so funny.
03:40He would, um, what I love, and I've worked with a few directors who are willing to do this.
03:45They're, they're not worried about embarrassing themselves or anything. They're willing to try
03:49anything and act things out for you if they're looking for something specific. And so, uh, we really
03:54had a blast. It'd be such a funny guy. And we trusted him because you watch Dumb and Dumber.
03:59There's something about Mary green book. It's like, this dude's a killer. And, um, you know,
04:04you, you hope for that, uh, in a director is somebody you can trust and, and not be afraid
04:09to try stuff or, or refine it with somebody like that. Both of you, what TV or movies you're watching
04:14on streaming these days, my website covers things you can stream. So we'd love to get your
04:18recommendations. I know two of mine right out the gate. I'll say real quick. Um, I watched
04:23paradise on Hulu starring Sterling K Brown, my buddy, Julian Nicholson. Unbelievable. I was blown
04:29away at how much art and intricacy they got. Love that show. And then I saw it. Yeah,
04:36Marsden is so sneakily good. He's underrated. I think, um, genuinely. Do you see him in jury duty?
04:42Do you watch jury duty? Oh my God. Do yourself a favor. It's one of the funniest things I've seen
04:47in my life. Um, uh, but the other thing I want to mention is my buddy, David Oyelowo, uh, fellow
04:54Jesus guy, David, David O, uh, who everybody knows played MLK in Selma. He just did a movie
05:00with Nate Parker called newborn. And it's about the, the, um, PTSD the prisoners have after undergoing
05:08isolation, um, being, what do they call it? They call it, um, solitary confinement. Yeah, solitary
05:15confinement in the hole, the hole. And, um, the performance David gives is, uh, unforgettable. So
05:21I'll shout those two out. I watched a lot of ESPN in the morning while I'm in the gym. And
05:25then my wife
05:26usually doesn't give me the remote. So she's got a lot of, uh, Real Housewives of Salt Lake and, uh,
05:32everywhere else. And it's like, yeah, but they start fighting and they don't want to,
05:36I'm trying to go to sleep and I don't want to hear fighting and screaming while I'm going to sleep.
05:40So I always ask her to change it. Two, two women made up way too much for Tuesday after.
05:45Mad and going to the other room. But, uh, but, um, no, I think, uh, once I go back to
05:51work,
05:51that's when I have much more time on my hands to start, you know, watching different things and binging.
05:56Although I did just see the, uh, the match fixing scandal around FIFA and, uh, the World Cup.
06:02Is that a doc? Yeah, FIFA. Yeah, the FIFA doc.
06:04Let me, I just want to ask really quick. Cause I am curious. Cause you gave me a bunch of
06:08good
06:08movie recommendations. I was very unschooled on early cinema and he was telling me all these
06:12different movies I need to watch. What's one that you go back to that you watch every year,
06:17a few years that you're like, I got to watch this. God, so many, uh, 400 blows being there.
06:25I mean, there's a long list. Why do we not have being there? Why do we not have being there
06:30on our
06:31list of four best comedies? Brilliant comedy show, McClane, Peter Sellers. How do you do that? Unbelievable.
06:36And now I'm going to tell everybody about it.
06:37And look at the viewing of the video.
06:37I love to look at the viewing of the video.
06:37Bye everyone.
