00:00So welcome team toaster to the team of two INS. It is an absolute pleasure to have you with us
00:05support today.
00:05Thank you so much. Thank you very much.
00:06So firstly in Dallas I saw the trailer. It looks very intriguing.
00:10It's a bit different from now on.
00:12And all the content in the market is a bit different.
00:15You will also see it from the audience perspective.
00:18Thank you. The film is way better than the trailer.
00:21So please watch it.
00:22Sure.
00:22So I just want to know that firstly,
00:28talking to you three,
00:29if you could tell us more about your characters.
00:32And also,
00:34basically tell us about your characters.
00:36It's very simple.
00:37It's Ramakant.
00:38It's a very sweet person.
00:40Why do you pay so much in life?
00:44You can save it.
00:45You can always do it.
00:47But, you know, people always say it.
00:51It's very practical.
00:52It's very practical.
00:55That's why you don't want to do a child.
00:57Yeah.
00:58Right.
00:59But, what about your character?
01:02Shilpa is a Judo player.
01:05He is a Judo player.
01:06He is a Judo player.
01:06He is a Judo player.
01:07He is a Judo player.
01:07He is a Judo player.
01:24If I could ask,
01:25how much is Ramakant very similar to Raj Kuna?
01:31Not at all.
01:33I think the only similarity is that he also loves his wife immensely.
01:37That's the only character trait that is similar.
01:41Yeah.
01:42Apart from that, no.
01:43I think Ramakant is, like, can be irritatingly sweet.
01:50But, because of his conjuciat.
01:52But, no.
01:53I have Raj level of conjuciat.
01:55Right.
01:55And, would you vouch on the same?
01:57100%.
01:58Raj is not conjuciat.
01:59I don't know.
02:00I am conjuciat.
02:02So, you are Ramakant in real life.
02:04Not that level.
02:05Not that level.
02:06Not that level.
02:08Yeah.
02:08Unachievable.
02:09Yeah.
02:10Film banane mein de den do any condition.
02:13That was the two more.
02:16So, sir, if I had to ask you that Jabi's story.
02:19Sir.
02:20Sir.
02:23Jabi's story, Akiva Sai.
02:24So, what made you select them and Jabi's?
02:28They selected me.
02:29I didn't select them.
02:30It's the opposite.
02:31They, Raj and Patra, they came to me with the one pager.
02:36So, I said, are you guys sure you are?
02:38And, I am going to pull it off.
02:39And, they have showed that immense faith in me.
02:42And, of course, he has been working in ad for a very long time.
02:45He has been in ad for a long time.
02:46So, if you go to the VDC, you can go to the ad word.
02:49You can go to the ad word.
02:49No.
02:50No.
02:51So, I was very very fortunate that they got this script to me.
02:57And, it was a lovely lovely script to do a debut.
03:01And, the set of actors.
03:05And, these set of actors.
03:05I mean, these, this Sanya, Raj and the late ensemble we have, the Baki characters in our film.
03:12That made my work very very very simple.
03:15So, actually I had to, I could concentrate on a lot of other important stuff.
03:18Not just, he acting me or he or he or he or he or he or he or he.
03:22It's not even in the question in this film.
03:24They are all very talented.
03:25So, I am very excited for the 15th.
03:28Absolutely.
03:28Yes.
03:28But, you know, when you say that, I personally think that if there are easy actors, it might be easy
03:34to direct them.
03:35But, when actors know their job very well.
03:38So, what does a perspective of the director's perspective when you look at them?
03:41I mean like, see, I mean like, you need to have great actors.
03:47That is non-negotiable, you know.
03:49And, an actor and a director actually need to come onto the same page.
03:52So, I mean like, this is the character, this is the scene I feel like.
03:57And, if we are in agreement, then I think it's great.
04:00And, whatever the actor gets into the table, it just elevates the scene or the film anyway.
04:05And, both and all the other actors have done the same.
04:08So, you will exactly resonate with what I am saying.
04:11Absolutely.
04:12Patra, we have a discussion for you.
04:14I think, in the past 6-7-9, your debut was in a lot of things.
04:18As a mother, as a producer.
04:20So, firstly, I wanted to know that, what made you choose, yet step in with the choose of a producer.
04:25Also, why did this feature happen?
04:28I wanted to become a producer much, much earlier.
04:32I, we were, both I and Raj.
04:35Since 2017, we were actively thinking of opening up our production house.
04:39And, then the pandemic happened.
04:41And, then we got Hazeera Talais.
04:43And, then the story actually came to Raj.
04:46And, Raj really connected with the story.
04:49And, then he was like, you know, read this up.
04:52And, what do you think of it?
04:54And, when I read it, it was funny.
04:56It was something that, I thought, is not so serious.
05:01It's, it's fun.
05:02It's a comedy.
05:03Which, I figured, comedy is way, way more difficult a genre to make.
05:08Because, this book was really funny.
05:12But, that's not necessarily, importantly, that it's going to translate into a movie.
05:19But, I'm glad we chose this.
05:21Because, the most difficult thing is to make a perfect laugh.
05:26And, I hopefully, Toaster is going to do that.
05:30But, yes, becoming a producer, it's great.
05:34And, it's a difficult job.
05:36But, my most important thing that's happened to me in my life, is becoming a mother.
05:41And, it's the most fulfilling experience.
05:45And, I'm just so blessed.
05:48That, because, I was always contemplating.
05:50Oh, maybe, I don't want to become a mother.
05:52Maybe, you know, it's.
05:54But, just having her around.
05:56It's, just, I think, I am my best boyfriend right now.
06:01Right.
06:02You know, we've seen a lot of actors, actresses especially.
06:04When they choose motherhood.
06:06Right.
06:06They kind of, take a sabbatical from you.
06:08Yeah.
06:08But, with you, it's the other way around.
06:09It's the other way around.
06:10Right.
06:10But, I'm also really happy, because, there's something called postpartum.
06:14Hmm.
06:14That happens to women.
06:16Not everyone, necessarily.
06:18And, also, because motherhood is a black girl.
06:21Hmm.
06:22And, I feel like, because of Toaster and Ravdar.
06:26And, I'm glad that the universe supported me this way.
06:30I didn't feel it so much.
06:32And, I feel like, I'm a better mother to Parvati.
06:36So, thankfully, it's a good space.
06:39It's so beautiful.
06:41Rav, this question is for you.
06:43That, you know, we've seen, we have seen Patran Ikha.
06:47From, and you've witnessed as well.
06:49From an actor, to girlfriend's face, to wife, to mother, to now producer.
06:55Is this the toughest time concert out?
06:57Like, how much, how tough is she to crack in which department?
07:02And, how is the journey been in your works?
07:04No, it's been beautiful.
07:05I think it's been fantastic.
07:06Whatever work she has done, there have been so many moments in her performances, that I feel, I watch sometimes
07:15that I get so inspired.
07:17But, like I tell her time and again that her moment in ICA24 and that scene where it tells that
07:22there is that, you know, can you, can I call my, can you call my father?
07:26I think I don't know how she did that, how she did that.
07:28In City Light there are so many moments.
07:31And in Phule there are so many moments.
07:33I think I've seen her journey, of course, and likewise she has seen my journey.
07:36But for me, the transition of, you know, Patulekha, the brave, you know, independent, beautiful Patulekha, that this when I
07:45saw her as a mother, how she became this very sensitive, timid, fragile girl that I saw when I first
07:56met her.
07:57You know, it was beautiful to see that, because motherhood makes you do that.
08:02You don't, you don't care about anything else in the world but that baby.
08:07That's why I think others are so special, you know, for all of us.
08:12So, and I'm seeing her every day now.
08:15It's beautiful seeing her transitioning with me, her work as a producer, as an actor and then also to be
08:22available for Parvati.
08:24It's, it's, it's way more tougher for, for women.
08:29Yeah.
08:29Physically and then emotionally also way more tougher.
08:32But, but of course for men also it's tougher emotionally, not physically that much.
08:37But women go through a lot.
08:40Yeah.
08:40Sure.
08:41Also they said that when there's a girl child in the house, there's a lot of luck that comes along
08:44with her.
08:44Right?
08:45How has it been in your case?
08:46I mean, after I remember you won Shrikant, awards for Shrikant in life.
08:50Yeah.
08:50Of course, the day she was gone Patra, Patra won for Kule best actress.
08:55Yeah.
08:55So like 14 November itself?
08:5715.
08:5715 November.
08:58Yeah.
08:59Okay.
09:00And then she's brought in, I'm sure she's going to bring in her.
09:03Yeah.
09:03But there's no pressure.
09:04Yeah.
09:04It's quality control.
09:07Yeah.
09:07It's our luck.
09:09It's our destiny, our hard work.
09:11Yeah.
09:11She's her baby.
09:12She's her daughter.
09:13She has her own journey.
09:14Yeah.
09:14She has her own journey.
09:15Yeah.
09:16So I think this question is for you that when you look at your area of works that you have
09:21done, we see that your selected projects are very relevant and not just haywire.
09:27Right?
09:27When you talk about toaster, what is that particular element that made you take up the project and
09:32what goes in your mind when you're selecting such selected projects?
09:39I did Toaster because it's very fun script and as an actor I was also looking for something
09:46where I just wanted to have fun and of course I wanted, I duly wanted to work with Raj.
09:54I have done two films with him.
09:55Yeah.
09:56I have done Ludo, which I haven't seen with him and then we did Hit.
10:01Hit which was also you know it was not for me it was not a very blendy path.
10:08But when he called me for Toaster and he told me that they are making it, it was an instant
10:14yes for me.
10:15I knew that if they are attached to something then it has to be good.
10:20And I loved watching films like Toaster as an audience and I wanted to do a film like Toaster
10:27as an actor.
10:28I wanted to do a film like Toaster as an actor.
10:28I wanted to do comedy.
10:31Of course when Raj is there I know if they are producing it, if they will get really good
10:36actors together.
10:38I wanted to do a film like Toaster as an actor.
10:40So these were the things that I wanted to do in my head when I was offered.
10:44Right.
10:44And how was the experience working with Patrilik as a producer?
10:47You know she is an incredible producer.
10:51Why?
10:51Because she is also an incredible actor.
10:54When we were trying to find Shilpa, she was really helpful.
11:00There were times when I didn't know what I wanted for her in terms of look.
11:05She really helped me.
11:08It was her idea.
11:14The color.
11:15The shape.
11:16And I am so glad that I had her because there are times when you are trying to figure out
11:20a character and you think what the look should be.
11:23Because she is such an incredible actor.
11:25She is really helpful in that.
11:27Right.
11:27And how was it for both of you?
11:29How was it to reunite after such a long time?
11:32It was fun.
11:33I think because I have been seeing her journey.
11:35I have seen her work and she is phenomenal in whatever she does.
11:37And when you have good actors on screen who are also, you know, who are also friends.
11:42And I like her because she, she laughs on my stupid jokes.
11:46Yeah.
11:47It I shouldn't.
11:48It I shouldn't.
11:49It I shouldn't.
11:50We have a great audience.
11:52Yeah.
11:53She is a great audience.
11:55So I think when somebody is immensely talented then it makes your job so easy.
12:00Especially in comedy you need that timing.
12:02Yeah.
12:02And I told this in an interview before that you know when people will see her in Toaster,
12:07they would be so impressed with her comic timing.
12:10Because very, very few actors both male and female together have that kind of comic timing.
12:16Yeah.
12:17Right.
12:17Also, when you read the script, Sanya's character is written a certain way.
12:23But the way she's translated the whole character when you watch the film, you know,
12:30is really refreshing.
12:33Not many, men, women, both.
12:37I'm not going to say that.
12:41It's, it's really difficult to make people laugh.
12:44Yeah.
12:44You know.
12:45And, they're not playing to a gallery, you know.
12:54It's very situational.
12:56And that was very interesting to even watch it on while we were shooting.
13:02Yeah.
13:03Yeah.
13:03Absolutely.
13:04I mean, it's reflected in the trailer.
13:06I'm sure the movie will do it.
13:07Oh yeah.
13:07So, the last question for all of you that if you had to give one particular reason why
13:12everybody should watch your movie and why does it make, why is Toaster very stand out from
13:17others, what would that be?
13:20It's a comedy and if all of us would love to laugh while you're watching something.
13:26So, I think just to be free from all the stress around the world and in your life for two
13:31hours.
13:32Just watch Toaster because it's got some really wonderful actors.
13:36Vivek's beautiful debut, Patra's beautiful debut as a producer.
13:38And just laugh out loud.
13:40I think it's a fun time.
13:41It's a crazy ride.
13:41Do you know what's opening up?
13:42You want to spend some good time with the film.
13:44And trust me, we haven't seen anything in the trailer.
13:46Yeah.
13:46There's so much more apps in the film.
13:49Yeah.
13:49Yeah.
13:50Just Iqnam Sazal, why do you choose an OTT platform for it and why not theater?
13:54Is there any specific reason for it?
13:57I think some stories are-
13:58Meant for.
13:59Meant for.
14:00You know, yeah.
14:01Yeah.
14:02So, there's no specificity?
14:03No, there's no specificity.
14:04Yeah, it's not that we wanted to do theater but we're doing it.
14:07It was always a personal decision.
14:09Day one.
14:10Day one.
14:11Yeah.
14:12Thank you so much.
14:13Thank you so much for your time.
14:14Thank you so much.
14:15That's my biggest mess.
