00:00It's time to protect the biodiversity of Colombia from the Academy.
00:03Every time, it's become more known that Colombia is the second country
00:07most biodiverse in the world and is among the 12 mega-diverse nations of the planet.
00:11Species such as the Oso Andino, the Cóndor, the Lagarto Azul de Gorgona, the Jaguar or Pantera Honka,
00:17the Orquídeas and the Palma de Cera are only some of the endemic species that live in our territory.
00:22A territory that has 67.000 species of fauna and flora registered,
00:26according to the Sistema de Información sobre Biodiversidad.
00:29Colombia, by being a tropical country, has a large variety of species that make their natural natural a native.
00:35But nothing of the geography geography with which it is today, would be what it is without the existence of
00:40the Areas Protegidas.
00:41Here we have a space to give a little bit of context.
00:44What are the Areas Protegidas and how they were born?
00:46The Areas Protegidas are a strategy of conservation of international character
00:50and are amparadas under the Ley 165 of 1994, a law that was ratified thanks to the Convenience on the
00:57Diversidad Biológica,
00:58which combines the biological diversification in all its levels,
01:02whether ecosystems, species and genetic resources.
01:05That is why it is said to say that these areas are destined to be fulfilled
01:09the objectives of conservation and its role is fundamental in the care of the biodiversity of the country.
01:14And that is why it is more than important to begin saying that today the Academy has listened to people
01:18and talked to the realities of thousands of citizens.
01:22And this is what we say today because the University of El Bosque has a post-grading
01:26that seeks to sum up efforts for the protection and the care of the biodiversity of Colombia.
01:30And that is what has achieved thanks to the Master in Gobernanza in Areas Protegidas and Gestión of Biological Resources.
01:36But, why do we say that the Academy, and in this case, the University of El Bosque has heard and
01:41understood the realities of the country?
01:43As said, Daniel Castro, Director of the Master in Gobernanza in Areas Protegidas and Gestión of Recursos Biológicos of the
01:49University of El Bosque,
01:50these areas are the reflection of that, always in the public service,
01:54there is considered the care of the natural resources.
01:56Daniel, as director of this post-grading,
01:58says that these areas protegidas sí can frenate the loss of biodiversity thanks to three factors.
02:04The first one, according to Daniel, because it allows the conservation in situ,
02:08which is the possibility of conservation of species in their own ecosystems.
02:12The second one, and that is very linked to what the Master in Gobernanza in Areas Protegidas and Gestión of
02:17Recursos Biológicos,
02:18is that these areas protegidas have allowed to work with all the local actors in these territories.
02:23And the last one of these points is that these areas protegidas have been claves to implement and implement solutions
02:30in the time.
02:32For this, finally, the implementation with success of policies that protect the biodiversity only when governments, companies and academies unen
02:41esfuerzos.
02:41And this post-grading program responds with success to that need to contar with professionals
02:46that can diagnosticar and evaluate the reality of each territory,
02:50and so, with their capabilities,
02:52logren brindar solutions that attack the conflict socio-ambiental and help prevent the loss of biodiversity.
02:57That's why it's time to talk about the program.
03:00How does the program work?
03:01The Master in Gobernanza in Areas Protegidas and Gestión of Recursos Biológicos of the University of El Bosque
03:06is divided in four semestres.
03:09In the study plan, which includes some semestres of 16 credits and others of 17,
03:13the charge académica is put in a virtual mode.
03:17That's it, once a month, the students of the Majestad will have activities in the field.
03:22The first step in the field is different because they lead to the students from this post-grading
03:27to have a direct contact with the entities that are in different territories.
03:31This contact is very valuable because it is made from experience.
03:35The students will be able to travel to territories like San José del Guaviare,
03:38in which currently there are effective solutions from the governance.
03:42And then, in the field, they will begin to practice all the knowledge.
03:46The Master in Gobernanza in Areas Protegidas and Gestión of Recursos Biológicos.
03:57And it is focused on those who seek to have better tools for the conservation of biodiversity
04:03from multiple fields such as the legal field, the communities,
04:08even from how to relate power in each territory.
04:11Do you have a perfil de egresado?
04:13The Gobernanza as an area of study is a discipline that is linked to the social sciences,
04:17more to the range of sociology and the Derecho,
04:20as Daniel said.
04:21However, in order to be immersed in power, government,
04:24and to be in different territories,
04:26appear in biology, ecology, environmental, environmental, forestal,
04:30and what this program does, explained Daniel,
04:33is to find points in common in all these disciplines
04:36that traditionally can be in multiple directions.
04:39For this reason, this program is created,
04:41to allow all these professionals of different areas of knowledge
04:45to have tools from the academy that allow them to diagnose
04:48and evaluate the reality of each territory.
04:51The responsibility of knowing, preserve and administrating
04:55our natural resources is a task of all.
04:58And in this process,
04:59will be the key to the conservation of the biodiversity of the country
05:02the professionals that have the best tools and knowledge
05:06and in this, the University of El Bosque,
05:08with her Master in Gobernanza as an areas protected
05:10and Gestión del Recurso Biológico,
05:12is doing already the task
05:14and putting their grain of the arena
05:16in the task of the planet.
