00:04Hello what's up I'm Brian here doing another video for you guys and this time we got to see

00:08the reveal of the upcoming Transformers Studio Series Wave. This has been listed and rumored

00:13for quite some time so it's awesome to actually get to see the images. I really wanted to talk

00:18about Scourge for a moment because this figure is going to get re-released and it is just a

00:23straight re-release of the figure that we already have. I've got it right here here's the original

00:28release. The only thing I'm really hoping for this version is that the tolerances are a lot better

00:33on the backpack but yeah I thought the face would be a little different just looking at this image

00:39because it looked like the mouth was a little bit deeper it was a little more sunken in but I

00:43think

00:43that's just how the image presents itself. I think that's just the contrast. It's disappointing for

00:49two reasons. One they had the opportunity to remake this figure to make it so much better so much

00:54closer to the on-screen appearance because this one is more based on some of the concept art and two

01:01because they took the slot of another later class toy and re-released something that I don't know if

01:07anyone was really asking in particular so it just seems weird. I think I would have preferred I don't

01:12know the Bumblebee movie Megatron or just just something else other than Scourge but whatever this is

01:18what they're going for. Anyways let's move on to the Studio Series Thundercracker. Now I'm going to start

01:23with this because this figure has already been seen. We've seen the couple of images of the

01:28Thundercracker beforehand. We know that this is going to be a remold of the Transformers 1 Starscream

01:34you know from the same movie. I do like the triple blasters at the bottom there. It kind of reminds

01:38me

01:38of that War for Cybertron toy and I do like the wings. I'm not sure about the angles here but

01:43I think

01:43the wings look fine and I like that it's different. I like that they're not afraid to change up the

01:49shape

01:49because a lot of the Seekers did have a different shape and different elements to their chest, their

01:53wings, their blasters. Now for this image I want to point out two things. One I really like the

01:59particular shade of blue. I like the red stripes underneath the wings and then that kind of fits

02:04with that dark gunmetal or the black. And two he's seen holding the weapons which if you know me I

02:10don't

02:10like when Seekers do that. I like it when they're attached to the shoulders or the arms or whatever

02:14but for Thundercracker it actually kind of works because it's not the traditional null rays and I

02:20just think that looks nice. So I don't know. Thundercracker you could get away with it.

02:25Anyways moving on to the brand new reveals we've got the Transformers 1 Soundwave. So obviously this

02:32is going to be that weird alt mode the Cybertronian alt mode. He's not going to transform into a cassette

02:36player because that would make zero sense. I do like the angle of the screen at the front there you

02:42know that's the traditional chest. I do like how they expand out the legs to have those fins on the

02:48back. I think the legs look fine. I also like how the kneecaps kind of spike at the front there.

02:53What I don't like about this toy is the gap you can see from the sides. I'm sure in person

02:58it's going

02:59to be totally fine but just seeing from this initial image you could see the insides and how it's just

03:05like you could see straight through the toy. Also it seems like there's a different shade of blue on the

03:11top there. I'm sure it's not going to be too much of a problem. I'm sure it's not going to

03:15be a big

03:15deal but you can kind of see that it looks like a different shade compared to everything else.

03:20So I'm not sure about that in person. Taking a look at the robot mode that looks very cool.

03:25Very streamlined. His body actually looks like it's in proportion. Now he's turned to the side so I

03:30imagine that when he's actually facing forward with the chest you could see how wide that chest is

03:36actually going to be but I think proportionally he doesn't look as awkward and I do like the shins.

03:44I like the gray and then this dark blue. The head looks very wide but it looks pretty accurate. It

03:49looks nice and they even colored the toes which I think is kind of cool. You've got the traditional

03:55red and gold elements throughout the body and then he does come with only one accessory. It's the

04:00shoulder cannon which will be able to pop off. You could actually see that from the alt mode

04:04but I don't mind that he only includes that. It would be nice if he includes some sort of rifle

04:09or handheld blaster but he did only have that in the film so I could let that slide. I think

04:15this

04:15figure looks fantastic and I'm curious to see how it's going to scale with some of the other

04:19Transformers 1 characters in Studio Series. Anyways moving on we're going into Age of Extinction with

04:26Bumblebee. So Age of Extinction is going to play a big part in Studio Series moving forward mainly

04:32because we're getting the Titan Class Dinobots. We know that we're getting the rest. Now because of

04:36Bumblebee I'm going to guess that the next one is going to be Strafe. I could be entirely wrong on

04:40that but considering that Optimus Prime was released and then Grimlock came out and it's meant to

04:47associate with those figures. You know you're meant to plug the Optimus Prime or the Nemesis Prime

04:52onto the Grimlock. We're getting the Bumblebee. I'm sure they're opening up so that this figure

04:58will be able to attach to Strafe somehow. So I think that's the order that they're going to get.

05:03I also think that's probably the reason why we haven't gotten Age of Extinction Crosshairs yet

05:07because that would be super easy to do but considering that they want to mold that to where

05:12it will properly attach to Scorn I feel like they're delaying that. I'm curious to see who's

05:18next exactly. I mean we could get Drift. We could get Crosshairs. We could even get Hound because the

05:24Last Knight one is coming out so maybe they're just doing that to get that figure out of the way

05:29so that the next one is going to be Age of Extinction Hound. I guess we'll have to wait and

05:33see.

05:34Anyways I do have the original Age of Extinction Bumblebee. This one came in the two-pack with the

05:39Legends toy but it's the exact same thing and there are certain things I like about this one in

05:44particular more than the other one which we'll talk about in a second but one thing that I really

05:48do like about this alt mode in particular is the painted rims. I think that looks nice. This one's

05:55just black. These ones are silver so that looks very nice. It makes it stand out. I also like the

06:00shade of yellow here. I mean I love this shade. This looks nice. It's kind of like a if you're

06:06a

06:06Bionicle fan it's more like a Ketorange kind of like an orangish yellow shade more deeper into the

06:12orange. I think that suits it but for this in particular I think that's better for Studio Series

06:17because this one looks more closer to the other Bumblebees even though this is a different Camaro.

06:22This is the 2014 Camaro. It's still similar to the other Bumblebees that we already got. I like the

06:28black stripes. I like that they're very prominent. I like the metallic blue for the headlights. You

06:33can get the little light on the side there that's painted in. The black stripes on the bottom of the

06:38car look very nice and prominent. It even has the black for the spoiler so I really like how this

06:43turned

06:44out and also the panel lines aren't too bad because the original one it had a lot of panel lines

06:48that

06:48looked very ugly. This one doesn't look too bad and then we take a look at the robot mode. Now

06:53one

06:53thing that I do like about this is finally we're getting the pairing of Stinger and Bumblebee. Some

06:59people speculated that it was going to be a remold of Stinger and that does not seem to be the

07:03case

07:03here. I'm kind of glad for that. I am growing to liking Studio Series Stinger a lot more nowadays

07:11but I'm kind of glad that they decided to go for something else. Another thing that I really like

07:16is that well we already have the Age of Extinction Optimus Prime so I'm sure he will stand very nicely

07:21with him. We got some of the other Autobots. I mean we got the Helicopter Drift which I'm sure

07:25they're going to make the car version that will actually attach onto Slug. But anyways just taking a look

07:31at this Bumblebee in particular. Again there's certain things I like here more than the original

07:36toy but I can't really say it's a downgrade. I can't really say that it's an upgrade either.

07:42It just feels like they're two different figures and what I mean by that is it feels like if you

07:49had

07:49two different designers make the toy at the same time you're going to get these two different results.

07:55One thing that I do like is the shoulder pads. I kind of like how that hangs off there.

08:00I think that looks a little bit better compared to the original. I think the chest looks a little

08:04bit better too because it's a little more outgoing. This one just looks very sleek and slim and I'm not

08:11sure how well that really translate with the rest of the toy because everything seems to bulk out.

08:16Another thing I like about this in particular is that it doesn't have the backpack hanging off.

08:21A lot of that kibble is being used for the legs and so you don't have this giant cape here.

08:27But at the same time and this is where we're getting into some of the problems

08:32the legs look very chunky. They look like these giant boots made out of just panels and

08:39it doesn't really look that good. I know everything has to go somewhere and I think for the Age of

08:47Extinction designs in particular that's going to be a lot harder because they didn't really

08:52think about translating the toy designs from those movie designs. You could definitely tell

08:59there's a very huge disconnect. They were like okay movie design make a toy out of it and it's like

09:06that's really difficult. There's a reason why the Age of Extinction Optimus Prime had a hard time

09:11after all these years. But I think that it just doesn't really look right. I'm not sure if they

09:17needed the clearance on the back because maybe he'll be able to sit onto the strafe. Although I feel

09:22like it would have been fine if he was standing on there. I do kind of like that they added

09:26the shin

09:27but I feel like it needed something below that section to kind of flesh with the feet. And I don't

09:33think the feet are helping either because there's no black on it. It's just pure yellow so it hides

09:38into that. Also the arms are completely gray except for that yellow hinge. So that doesn't really look

09:44right. I wish they painted some of that because if they paint the chest why not paint that. The

09:49blaster the mold for that looks better. I do like the original toy and how that was able to flip

09:55out

09:55but that was not an accurate design. This one definitely is. And I like that you do have the

10:00hand there but it's all just pure yellow with silver in for the barrel itself. But I guess it does

10:07throw in

10:08a little bit of yellow there. I also really like the head sculpt. I think the head sculpt looks better

10:12than the original. Although the original also had that bow mask gimmick so again it's kind of a

10:17toss-up. One thing that I really do not like is the wheels. How the bottom ones just stick out

10:23and

10:23then the top ones are just up like that. I think they stick out a little too far and not

10:28only that

10:29they're not the shurikens. So the stinger one had the shurikens which is totally fine. That was

10:34something from the original concept that he never actually used. But for this one they decide not to

10:40go with that. And I think that's kind of lame because we just have the wheels sticking out.

10:44It's not prominent. There's nothing special about it. It's just the wheels had to go somewhere.

10:50So let's just stick them out of the back. See if they were the shurikens at least I feel like

10:54there's

10:55a reason to have them as outgoing as they are. I don't love the shurikens on the original toy but

11:00at

11:01least he had them because they were from the original design. So it's kind of a toss-up. I think

11:05I'll

11:06eventually get it mostly to pair with the Age of Extinction Optimus and because of the Dinobots

11:11going forward. But I can't say I'm not disappointed. Anyways moving on we've got the

11:16Voyager class toy. This is the Age of Extinction Evasion Mode Optimus Prime. Now if you knew back in

11:252014 Hasbro seemed to have loved the Evasion Mode Optimus Prime because they could not stop

11:34releasing it. Pretty much every store had an exclusive version of the Age of Extinction

11:41Evasion Mode Optimus Prime. You had Toys R Us. You had probably Kmart had something. Takara had

11:47something. Just everything had a version of this toy. Whether it was just a re-release or a re-deco.

11:55I have two of them in my collection. I've got the original one and then the one that came with

11:59the

11:59classics Optimus Prime. I never got the rusty one with the tan and I was kind of interested in that.

12:04But I will say I think the colors are much better here because you can kind of see that red

12:10and the

12:10blue faded in. But it's not as prominent as the original initial release. And I think that's a

12:17nice compromise. A couple of cool things about the mold here. I love the dents. You can see that at

12:22the

12:23top rim there above the window. You can see that on the bumper. You can see that hole in the

12:28grill which

12:29is kind of a big deal for Optimus Prime in the original movie. You know he had that. And then

12:34you

12:35can see the dents and scratches on the side here. I say the shoulders but that's not technically

12:40laid the shoulders. But traditionally for Optimus Prime that would be. He's also got the single

12:44smokestack. Now what's really cool about this toy is you can see that the feet are flipped up.

12:50Now when you turn this around it's probably going to look bad. But what's cool about it

12:54is the fact that the feet aren't slapped on to the very back for the trailer hitch. Because that was

13:00something from the original toy and I did not like that. So again we have a truck that looks better

13:05from the back than the Age of Extinction Studio Series Galvatron. You do have the gun that can

13:12plug onto the back which is totally fine you know. That's something from the original Invasion. Or no

13:17it wasn't the Invasion Optimus Prime. Although I think you could do that for the original toy.

13:22But yeah because originally you could plug that onto the top of the truck. But yeah I think that the

13:29alt mode looks fine. Take a look into the robot mode. I think it almost cleans itself up a little

13:34too much.

13:35And the reason why I say that is because you look at the chest. You look at the legs.

13:39And it just looks kind of basic. It looks simple. It doesn't look like it has any

13:43cool transformation tricks. Maybe it does in person. I can't say for sure. But just the initial figure

13:50just looks kind of basic. He also looks kind of wide at the shoulders. Which kind of reminds me of

13:55I think it was the Revenge of the Fallen Optimus Prime from Studio Series. It almost looks like an

14:00in-between between that and the first movie one that they did later. Which I don't mind. I'm just

14:06pointing out that he does look a little wide. At least from this image from what I could tell.

14:11I mean he's turned to the side much like Soundwave. I also like that they painted the or at least

14:16colored these barrels on the shoulders in red. I just think that's kind of nice to bring in that

14:22red and blue at the top there. They did color the torso pretty well. You've got the blue right here.

14:27the red around it for the windows. Obviously it's going to be the fake windows. Which I totally

14:31understand. The wheels do stick out and you can see the smokestack poking out of the leg. Which

14:37does look kind of awkward. It looks like he's got a hangnail. But I think it's fine. Now you do

14:43see

14:43the backpack. And you can kind of see this cape being formed from the front of the truck. You will

14:48be able to flip that up. Because you can see that on the back of the packaging. It does flip

14:52up. So

14:52that's totally fine. The blaster looks kind of dull and gray. And I'm not sure how I

14:57feel about the gray in general. I think in some places it's fine when there's actual color being

15:02thrown in. But then you can see the hands and it just looks very dull. You can see the feet

15:06look

15:06very dull. But because this is kind of a dull Optimus Prime because it's the rusty look. I

15:12guess it kind of gets away with it. Also love the fact that it's got the red or the rust

15:16on the top

15:16of the head. I think that's cool. So with that out of the way. That is the Studio Series Wave.
