00:00Good afternoon. I am here today to announce new charges that are being filed against Michelle Marie Price and Stephen
00:10Ramirez in connection with the death of their two-year-old daughter, who tragically died of a fentanyl overdose after
00:18being exposed to fentanyl by both defendants.
00:22These two individuals were previously charged after the death of their daughter with child endangerment, possession of a controlled substance,
00:30and possession of drug paraphernalia.
00:32We have now filed a motion to amend those charges now that we have received the medical examiner's report and
00:39other evidence to add homicide to the complaint with respect to both of those parents.
00:46This is the first homicide case that we have filed in connection with a fatal overdose due to fentanyl.
00:55And I want to be clear to parents who may be struggling with substance abuse disorder.
01:01First and foremost, we must protect the children in San Francisco.
01:07And this is a job that I take extremely seriously.
01:11We cannot have environments where fentanyl is left available to young children, to any children in our city, that results
01:23in the tragic fatal overdose like we saw in this case last month.
01:28And so I'm happy to answer any questions that you have, but we will be moving forward with these charges
01:33tomorrow.
