00:00Every side of the fence you're on, we've had an exceptionally good debate on this, and it has to conclude
00:06with Councillor Kidney, I'm afraid, sorry Alan, but Councillor Phil Kidney.
00:13I remember, just to pick up a couple of points, when Michelle may go back to the decision, it's the
00:22promises, Michelle, that's what bugs us, it's the promises.
00:25If the council had come two days, two weeks, a month after the fire and said, look, look at things,
00:31it may be different, but they didn't, they've handled it badly, and that is the crux of the problem here.
00:39Now we are meeting the diocese on Tuesday, Councillor Miller says, you know, we're not going to build a school
00:46for 28, we're not going to waltz away without a big, signing a big check there either, and then you
00:51have another dilapidated building, or a building,
00:55an empty building on the landscape. Now is that the legacy we want to create for our dark constituents? I
01:00would say no.
01:01A couple of figures I should have put in for that Sharon want to be able to mention, there's 43
01:07% of the children in there have got ANN.
01:11Freescore and meals as a percentage is 25.4, Welsh average is 22.9.
01:16What this shows is the deprivation in our area, you know, and it is bad. Now we've put these children
01:23who need help, we've put them through a terrific trauma.
01:26Not their fault, not the staff's fault, not the bear's fault. We've created that. Now we, it's about time now,
01:32we need that.
01:34We don't, we need to put the trust back into politics. Believe me now, if you vote, you're not voting
01:41just for the policy, you will vote in to close one of your school, which has been treated appallingly.
01:47Now it's about time we're still up, we're going to have to pay something, you know, it's nonsense to think,
01:53we ain't, we're going to waltz away from there and move out building entities.
01:56It ain't going to happen. The down seas are going to play hardball on this, and quite rightly so, they
02:00feel aggrieved.
02:02Now, let's put the trust back into politics, so when we go out knocking doors next year, the Senate members
02:08come this year, we can say we're trustful politicians, when we say something, we do it.
02:13And let's get these kids back into school.
02:16Thank you very much for being so concise on that point.
02:19Right, members, we're putting the vote, it's going to be an electronic vote, obviously, and that is for the recommendations
02:25which have been moved on page 84,
02:29and you can see it's to authorise the Director of Education to publish a statutory notice to discontinue Maniple Church
02:36in Wales voluntary controlled schools.
02:38You're for it, you're against it, or you're going to abstain. Thank you.
02:52Members, 52 votes were cast in totality, 29 were for the recommendation, there were 20 votes against, and there were
03:00three abstentions, so the recommendation is carried.
03:04We're having a five-minute break, our very talented translator, who never gets the kudos she deserves, she needs to
03:15leave and collect her headsets.
03:17So we can have a five, ten-minute break before we resume the agenda.
