00:00It's the rematch we've all been waiting on for a little over a decade.
00:04Mayweather, Pacquiao, live in Vegas September 19th.
00:07The man, the legend, Manny Pacquiao is blessed in the studio
00:11because he's here in New York and he's ready to rumble, but it's Mayweather.
00:15Welcome back to New York, man.
00:17I saw you in the Bronx at Yankee Stadium throwing out that first pitch.
00:21How's New York treated you so far?
00:23No disrespect, right, from the New Yorkers?
00:26Unbelievable.
00:27It's a great experience to watch the game of Yankees,
00:32which is one of my favorite teams.
00:35And also, nice to be back here in New York.
00:38Absolutely.
00:38I got to get you in some Mets colors, man.
00:41I'm a Mets guy, you know.
00:42So hopefully you can go out, you know, Citi Field,
00:45throw a first pitch out there as well.
00:48But let's get straight into this champ.
00:50Cool if I call you champ, right?
00:52All right, champ.
00:52Formal agreement for a pro fight with Floyd Mayweather.
00:58Looks like he's dancing a little bit when it comes to if it's going to be a real pro fight
01:03or an exhibition.
01:04A lot of people in the boxing world and the casuals out there are ready for me to ask you,
01:10is this fight going to happen September 19th?
01:13Well, both of us signed the agreement, the real fight, and both of us received the advance.
01:22So there's no reason that this fight is not posted.
01:26So what do you think is the holdup on his side, on his camp's side?
01:31Because a lot of people are saying at 50-0, he's trying to protect his legacy.
01:35That's why he doesn't want to make it into a formal fight.
01:38What do you think is the holdup from the Mayweather camp?
01:41I don't know what his drama right now, but he knows, and I know that he knows what he signed.
01:49I mean, a real fight, and we get our advance, and that's it.
01:57I mean, we're waiting for the big day on September 19th.
02:01So what if this doesn't happen?
02:03What if you guys can't come to some sort of formal agreement, and he doesn't want to fight on your
02:08terms?
02:09I mean, Netflix has already came out with the graphic.
02:11It's already been announced.
02:12And like you said, money was already exchanged.
02:15What's your plan B or C?
02:18How do you pivot?
02:19We don't have a problem with that because we have a plan B, plan C.
02:23But the thing is, if he don't fulfill his commitment to this agreement, he will face the consequences.
02:34The consequences that he's going to face is not really easy.
02:38It's going to be a big problem for him, not for me, because I'm ready.
02:44I'm willing to fight.
02:46So we have plan B, plan C.
02:48So we're not worried about, but still, that date, I have a scheduled fight.
02:56In sports, we all have our rivals.
03:00Pacquiao, Mayweather, is one of the biggest rivalries in sports competition.
03:05You bought or in the process of buying a gym that was owned by Floyd Mayweather out in Hollywood.
03:12Is that like real beef or is that just like a good business type thing?
03:17Because that's like Kendrick Lamar times Drake type beef type stuff right there.
03:22Are you buying so much gym?
03:23I think it just happened that the place is so nice in the center of the business and it's available.
03:33So why not?
03:36Our plan is to put up Pacquiao Prime Boxing.
03:42So not only in L.A., but all over America.
03:49Elite athlete, senator, politician, entrepreneur, businessman, you're a dude that wears a lot of hats, man.
03:56And all right, so let's shift from the whole Mayweather talk and all.
03:59Let's go into some of the things about boxing that make you smile right there.
04:04Like kind of talk to us through, because you've, I mean, 47 years old, 62, 8 and 3, 39 knockouts.
04:10We grew up, we watched you, you know, us people who watch and consume and love the sport.
04:16Kind of take us through some of your proudest moments as a boxer, as a fighter.
04:21And when was that moment where you knew you could do this?
04:25When I became champion in second division.
04:30You can.
04:30Yeah, yeah, yeah.
04:31And that's the moment that, oh, I can, I can be a champion in different with division.
04:36So more, more, more, more.
04:38So that's why I able to capture, became a champion in eight different with division.
04:45But that's it, because 154 is too much.
04:50Okay.
04:51And yeah, that's the last one.
04:52So the state of boxing right now isn't what it was when I was growing up.
04:57You know, we had the Mayweather Pacquiao's.
05:00We had, I remember, Sugar Shane Mosley versus Oscar De La Hoya.
05:03I think I was in like the eighth grade then.
05:05I got suspended from school and my parents almost didn't even let me watch it.
05:10I had to sneak out the house to go to a friend's house to go watch that.
05:13But now, my kid, my son turns three in two weeks.
05:16He's going to grow up thinking like the exhibition boxing and the Jake Pauls and those guys.
05:22That's real.
05:23That's the real sport.
05:25What is your thoughts on the state of boxing right now as where it is?
05:31When we talk about boxing, boxing is boxing.
05:34You know, for me, boxing is the oldest sport.
05:38Way, way back century.
05:40How many centuries?
05:41Boxing is boxing.
05:43So if this exhibition boxing, just like entertainment for the people.
05:48But boxing is a fight.
05:50I mean, a sport that fight each other.
05:54You know, giving satisfaction to the fans.
06:01You spoke at the UN at the Sports for Peace and Development.
06:06Again, you're a man that wears many hats.
06:09You're the athlete that I kind of look up to as like more than an athlete.
06:13Why was that so important for you to go there and to speak at that conference, that event?
06:21It's really an honor for me to speak at the UN to promote sports, to promote peace.
06:30Because I believe that sports can develop, you know, can resolve the problem of, you know, not understanding each other.
06:41So sports can build relationships.
06:45Sports can be, you know, united.
06:50We can be united through sports.
06:51So I think sports is the best way to enable us to understand each other, whatever language you are, as
07:02long as in the same sport we're together, we're one.
07:05Well, we got Holga Benito, as Pele used to call it, the beautiful game.
07:10We got the World Cup coming to the United States this year.
07:12You think that football, a sport, can kind of ease some of the tensions that's going on throughout the world
07:20right now?
07:21Or do you see that being a conflict?
07:23Oh, yeah.
07:25When you see a game of football, look at the people.
07:30It's united, cheering, you know, cheering in the same goal, to win, to win.
07:37So building friendship and then they're together, unity, you can see unity.
07:45So I think for me, that's why I promote sports in the U.N.
07:52Is this the year the Knicks end the drought and finally bring the city a championship?
07:58Oh, big chance.
08:00Yeah.
08:00Big chance for the Knicks this year.
08:02So I hope that they will win the championship this year.
08:09Lastly, when we were walking up into the studio, a lot of people stopped you on the streets.
08:13You're taking pictures with fans.
08:15You're a man of the people.
08:17There's your camera right there.
08:18Like, what's a message to your fans, man, that have been rocking with you and been supporting you throughout your
08:24entire journey?
08:24Like, what would you say to them?
08:26Well, all I can say to the fans is, Mani Pacquiao is for you guys, I mean, for the people.
08:32Because I wouldn't be here without your support, you know.
08:37I wouldn't be a Mani Pacquiao if without their support.
08:40And because of their support and, you know, watching in every fight, I became Mani Pacquiao.
08:53So that's something that I'm grateful to the people, of course, from God also.
09:01Well, I was, I got introduced to you as Mani Pacquiao, the boxer.
09:07But the more you read about you, the more that you see the work that you're doing, not only in
09:11politics, but just global peace, just entrepreneurship.
09:15I respect Mani Pacquiao, the man and the legend, man, because what we do off the field or off the
09:21pitch or out the ring, I feel like that's where our legacy truly grows.
09:25And also for you to do everything that you're doing outside of the ring, man, I definitely appreciate that.
09:30And I definitely appreciate you coming in.
09:31My goal is, like, we as people who are influencers or popular, we should be united and promote peace to
09:42the whole world.
09:43Yeah, yeah.
09:43Because we have, we can, we can influence people, we can, we can encourage them to build peace to each
09:51other and relationship with each other.
09:52Yeah.
09:53Well, you got to do that, can knock out everybody watching this interview right now, promoting peace.
09:58So that should tell all the tough guys out there, like, ease up, ease up.
10:02We're just trying to have some fun here and live life.
10:04Mani Pacquiao, ladies and gentlemen, thanks for coming into the studio.
